    Fallout 4
    Fallout 4 Wiki said:
"Fallout 4 is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios[2] and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth major installment in the Fallout series...The player is the Sole Survivor of Vault 111, who emerges 210 years to the day and time after the Great War. The setting takes place in Boston, Massachusetts. Famous local landmarks like the Paul Revere Monument, the USS Constitution, as well as the Massachusetts State House with its unique Golden Dome are included in the game world."
Considering the Automatron DLC just came out today, I thought it would be a good idea to gander some Fallout 4 discussion! What did you guys think about the Fallout game on this curreng generation of consoles? Did you think that it met the expectations made from it's predecessors, or do you think it fell short of the mark? What would you like to see come from the DLCs announced by Bethesda? Feel free to talk about any and all things Fallout 4 here.

I may not be the most hardcore of Fallout fans, though I have played classic Fallout, with some time invested in Fallout 2, but i will say that the First Person Fallout Era is actually just as good and as immersive as the classics. I am not any of those CRPG fankids manchild purists who run around and tell everyone that Bethesda ruined fallout by making it a First Person POV and real time combat, all of that crud. Heck I enjoyed Fallout even more as a First person RPG than the classic format did.

Just bought my first Fallout game today; Fallout 4. Plus the season pass, since the bundle was on sale for only $68 on the XBOX One. Downloading as we speak.

How would you compare the two formats, if you don't mind me asking?

    Did you buy it via the Spring Sale that's currently going on? (;

I'll only tell the most barebones.

Classic Fallout: (1, 2, and any of the games before 3)
Isometric view, turn based combat system.

The Fallout Format that most people are now familiar with:
First person view, real time combat system.

basically its a large difference in gameplay from Classic Fallout to Modern Fallout.

I'll be a little more honest here but I'll say that when it comes to this generation of Fallout, i can humbly say that it has surpassed classic fallout when it became the First Person real time RPG that we now know of the series. I simply love getting my hands on some really ridiculous weapons in order to blow off the heads of enemies. It was just so fun when I was able to get things going the way i wanted. I'll also say that Modern fallout is a lot easier to pick up and play for anyone. I remember playing the classic fallout games and it took me ages to get things right, and there are times that i just wanted to fall asleep because of the classic series having this uniquely slow pace.

But I'll also be a lil more honest, I do miss the really mature themes and overtunes that classic Fallout had such as the use of sex, drug use, and prostitution that were cleverly explored in the post apocalyptic setting of the series. It made me feel so immersed in this post apocalyptic world where the boundaries of good morals and right conduct were shattered. But again, both generations of Fallout where made different cultural periods.

    No, just no.

Bethesda did it a little better this time around with Fallout 4 in terms of moral ambiguity, but Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas have always been better. It's not just in terms of gameplay, it's in terms of overall storytelling. The classic Fallout games had really good storytelling, not to mention better overall freedom with how to complete quests.

Fallout 3 had binary morality for the most part (either Brotherhood or Enclave, no one else) and Fallout 4? Pfft, hey fuck you if you want to kill NPCs, we won't let you do that because Todd wants to railroad you into his latest subpar narrative. Screw that, if some a-hole is backtalking me, I want to be able to shoot him dead, not shoot him and watch him be cripple for five seconds, then see him get back up again. Talk about shallow C&C. Still, the gameplay of Fallout 4 did have some potential; can't wait to see what Obsidian (the ones who SHOULD own this series) does with the format.

So you think that New Vegas is better than Fallout 4? I always though of New Vegas as being very empty.

That's because Fallout 4 had the advantage of a slightly tweaked engine that already had a hard time rendering too many advanced character models all in one small area.

I still standby my opinion that if your 3D AAA open world game's engine in the year 2015 (Gamebryo, Creation) shits a brick over making climbing animations or generating a "city" with more than 20 people, you need to take it out back, shoot it like Ol' Yeller, and build something new from the ground up. Not tweak it slightly and slap a new name on it like they did with Skyrim.

Well in my opinion I was more making that comment about New Vegas in terms of Fallout 3. If you compared those two games, I felt that a lot of locations in New Vegas has little to no loot in them/really anything of importance.

I never ever got that impression playing it. There was still plenty of stuff to bolster the pat-rack simulator gameplay Bethesda's known for, even though Obsidian got irritated with it. Just play Old World Blues....that DLC alone was better than all of Fallout 3 in terms of interesting characters, fun story, and thrills.

My first few moments into the wasteland were marred by a headache. Looking forward to giving this another go on Monday, hopefully without the headache.

Fallout 4 is good but not as cool as Fallout 3 , the graphics are nice but gameplay and story aren't that good

I have only played Fallout 3, New Vegas and some of Fallout 4. I agree with Odin's comments about New Vegas which is why I replayed it over and over again. I also preferred it's baron wasteland to the ruined city in Fallout 3 because the underground got very annoying to me.

I haven't been able to fully commit myself to playing Fallout 4. I don't feel the same excitement and i feel a little limited. I felt the same about Battlefront. he orignal Battlefront games were up there with my all-time favourite games. Battlefront pales in comparrison in all areas except graphics. I hope this isn't going to become a trend in gaming.

Just curious, what about the story didn't you like?

Why did the underground annoy you?

I would get lost easily and end up spending twice as much time down there than I needed to and there are parts of the city that you have to go through the underground to get to. There's no avoiding it. If I was forced to go in there once or twice it wouldn't have bothered me but I had to keep going in and out of it. The first time I went in there I remember enjoying getting lost and being a bit creeped out by the ghoul noises. After the twentieth time it got to be a chore.

Pretty much exactly how I felt going from Oblivion to Skyrim. I'd imagine that a lot of it has to do with these games having shallow mechanics and relying on similar, albeit slightly altered ones in their successors. Mainly because most of the novelty of these games is in their open world, so someone who starts with Fallout 4 might have their breath taken away, while you've already felt that before so it isn't really all that new. Because I certainly remember how much fun I head playing Oblivion for the first time, and I don't think any Open World RPG has matched that since (because it was certainly one of my first).

And on that point I think, as a sequel, Skyrim isn't particularly all that good. Fallout 4, though? I...I mean...I think it falls into similar pitfalls that Skyrim does, but it does have a very distinct feel to it compared to 3/NV thanks to it's streamlining and emphasis on Action over RPG (very Mass Effect 2 in that regard), for better or for worse. I didn't really feel compelled to play through it for particularly long and some design decisions and changes were questionable, but I'll definitely fondly remember casually building up Sanctuary while listening to Diamond City Radio.
