Not an unknown error, thankfully. You'll need to make sure you're patching a genuine FireRed v1.0 (maybe something along the lines of "1636 - Pokemon Fire Red (U)(Squirrels)", I dunno) :-D

Can't play Beta 2, stucks at the part after choosing Rival's name. I am 99% sure i have the correct rom, i.e Fire Red 1.0, since i have been able to play all the Fire Red hacks with this.

I'm not big on following every beta of a hack. I usually just wait until the hacker is finished the whole hack or quits the project until I download. But for this hack, it's worth it. This hack is really well done. I'm definitely gonna give V2 a shot.

    Hi, I've just started playing this game (didn't play the Beta 1), all I can say is that I'm having fun playing this hack, it really remind me the unfortunately unfinished hack Apollo (which let's you play as a team Rocket Grunt too), aside of that, I'm playing on Visual Boy Advance, and sometimes I experiment freezes (permanent black screen when I'm getting out of a house in Celadon) or game reset (It happen to me twice, one by going downstairs on a roof in Celadon, the other when flying to Mt Moon, I try again and it goes without reset but I find it quite surprising). Othen than that, I continue playing, great job making this ! :) ;)

    I don't know if it's on purpose but :

The man who sell you a Magikarp for 500$ at Mt Moon calls you "ladies", and since you're a man it's kinda akward x)

    Finally I've finished your Beta 2, it's really a good hack, the story is deep, I can clearly see some fan-theories coming to life, and there a lot of things I liked during play, but I will keep it for me to not spoil anyone ;)

    Aside from the general thoughts, I have a couple of suggestions for you, of course you do whatever you want with them, but I think it could help the overhaul immersion :

- Everytime you steel a pokemon after a fight, the gender may change, for exemple, in Lavender Tower, I stole three pokemon and all of them became female althought they were male during the fight, it would be great to make them stay the same gender as they were. {D:}

- Concerning the bounty on our head because of crimes, I find it somehow awkward when you talk to any police officer with even a high bounty (mine was 114 000 by the end of the beta) and all he does is telling you that you need to trade a lot to shut down the bounty, but as an officer, he just lets you walk off like you did nothing instead of trying to arrest you. ~_~

- As for the stealing part, it would be nice if people have some after-stealing dialogue, because everytime I've stolen one, they've just talked to me like they would normally to a random trainer. They should threat you, yell at you or things like that, it would feel more real, at least to me :)

- As for the pokemon center, isn't that awkward that, despite you being a criminal of a renowned gang, they heal your pokemon just like that. In my opinion, adding a dialogue to bribe them, or paying the heals would feel more suited. {:3}

- Again, for the bounty, the fact it is at zero despite all the stealing you made before Cerulean City is kinda strange, assuming that after Lance's speech, every single stealing add to a bounty, if would make more sense to have already a bounty before the speech if we are a criminal who steals pokemon. >:)

- Last thing that come to my mind, when Red attacks the Team Rocket HQ in Celadon City, you can talk to everyone to see they were ruthlessly beaten, but there are stairs in the HQ that leads to the labs. During all the beta you can't access it, but Red should have taken care of people in those labs, doesn't he ? o_O

    Well, that's all I have to say, I haven't encoutered any other freeze during gameplay, nor bugs, even though I've literally swept the floor with the face of every single trainer present in the beta, including Red at Mt Moon (by the way, hilarious winning quote {XD}). And I've laughed even more with the ending scene {XD}

Full disclosure (and a slight tangent): I actually tried several times for Beta v1 to make the stealing function such that the stolen Pokémon would have the victim's OT name, but my ASM skills were simply not up to snuff (Bad eggs upon bad eggs upon bad eggs, I'm telling ya...)

The plot-based explanations for the inconsistencies with the bounty system (without revealing too much...) might have something to do with Lance not really caring all too much about criminal justice so much as wanting to appear as if he does. Of course, it is a game mechanic first and foremost, and if the precise logic behind it comes out a little shoddy then I figure that's okay.

Also health care in Kanto is public. They have no right to deny any citizen care according to their need. (I came up with that right now.)

    Well, you're welcome about the feedback :) Personnally, I hate not to have constructive critic on my own work, so I do everything I can despite English not being my native language, to make myself as clear and precise as possible, oh and, I edited my post to make the picture viewable (under spoiler of course) since I couldn't see it. Anyway, feel free to PM me anytime if you need some tests ;)

    Aside of that, your explanations about what I suggested are kinda convincing and I understand that if would be difficult to give the victim's OT, so don't worry about that ;) Fun point, it must be my lack of luck but I had to retry like 70 times to get a female Eevee {XD} Oh and, when the next Beta will be out, I'll probably restart a new save to play as a good guy since your hack satisfy all my bad boy's instincts :)

It's been a long time since i've done this... bear with me please!

I figured tonight i'd start this Rom Hack because A) It intrigued me, and B) I love hacks that have some correlation with being the bad guy, it was why I even joined PC in 2009 to begin with.

Onto my opinion of the game; It was a stellar play through; I won't lie, I used a bit of Fast-Forwarding to get through some training as the leveling curve was a little rough at some points, but I feel around the third mission that some of the stolen Pokemon make up for the lack of decent EXP around the 1st and 2nd Missions.

Let me explain some issues I felt could be improved /slightly/

I will put this in a spoiler as to not spoil the story for anyone who hasn't actually played through the game yet.

Okay, this was really only something I picked out fairly quickly. There was an optional event involving the underground after the third mission; before heading to lavender I decided to see if the two NPCs had left/moved yet, as I was curious, upon getting there, there was an event to get this Hoenn girl back for some old man in the Underground leading to Lavender from Celadon. I decided to help him out and go beat the "Cooltrainer" and he absolutely wrecked me the first time, I didn't have an easy team to beat, I had a Raticate at level 22, a Poliwag at 20, Spearow at 19, and Scyther (from the third mission) at level 24. I absolutely got demolished. I spent about 30 minutes of fast-forward grinding to beat him, came back with my whole team at 25, and a Fearow and Poliwhirl, and because of this; I had completely made myself able to beat Fuji unintentionally. He was no longer a challenge for my team by the time I had gotten to the top, and knowing the beta was going to end after that mission, I was slightly disappointed.

So, after reading the spoiler, which I recommend people don't read unless they absolutely desire to, I would like to suggest blocking off this part of the game until after finishing the 4th mission, seeing as it was completely optional for this Beta; It would make more sense at least to me that it be an optional event for after the 4th mission.

Okay; I think I can honestly say, I'll honestly be playing this more and more as you update it, although I know how it works here, updates don't come fast, but they sure are enjoyable when they do.

ColonelSalt; please don't give up on this. I was devastated when Ckret2 never came back with Toxic Purple, and I was very sad when my favorite hack artist (Cutlerine) left the Pokecommunity Scene.

You've got a loyal fan in me, this rom hack is definitely one of the few hacks I can honestly say I am excited to see complete.

Great job, colonelsalt. I've played through beta v2, and it was sure fun managing the team at such a harsh start. The "Unbeatable Red Fight" seemed like a challenge, so I ended up selling some stuff (like PP Up), using my newfound resources to get a Great Ball, catching and grinding a Growlie and a Vaporeon and so on, all to teach that Ashy-boy a lesson! It was sure worth it, even if it wasn't part of the storyline.

And, man, even after that one big grind, Mr. Fuji was sure powerful! Somehow the stolen Marowak ended up two levels lower, though (I think?).

I really liked the darker world you presented, even though I don't agree with some fanfction-y parts of it (Gary's Ratticate). Regarding the morality system, which quests does it influence? I've seen Mr. Psychic reporting me to the cops and raising bounty, but what about the Fishing Guru quest, or the two pimps? I helped the younger pimp, and the bald one swore revenge, will there be continuation? Is morality only based on my relation to the cops? Because, eh, not sure how moral it is to give those guys bribes!

Now, one decision I don't quite understand is turning Team Rocket into some sort of Kanto nationalists. Considering that they hold strong operations in Sevii and Johto themselves, and the stated goal of "taking over the world", I'd thought them pretty much globalist. Heck, if I were to give them a sympathetic side/goal that necessitates what they do (like Blue said), I'd give them more of a World Order goal, where they eliminate separate nations entirely and spread themselves.

Of course, it's your game and your decisions, but I wonder why did you decide to make Rockets specifically the Kanto patriots.

As for the bugs, the only one I've found is that the first bug catcher in Mount Moon will sometimes freeze the game during the encounter. So, uh, save up, folks!
