I'll keep messing with the color until I find the right shade, I think I can fit another layer of shading. Also, does anyone know what's the max amount of colors I can use on the sprites so that I can still put them in the game? Is there a limit on how many colors I can use? I'm almost done...

Remember to use more than one color when re-coloring things :P At least they look clean.

Lol, well, you're going to have to hack a ROM anyway, that's basically all we're doing, modifying ROM files to our liking. I'm not sure how you would do it otherwise...
