If you have spare time, go watch the following:
1. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: Just an awesome anime. Great world, great characters, great plot (the last two seem hard to find in an anime).
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - A television show by Joss Whedon (also did Dollhouse, Firefly, Dr. Horrible). Again, awesome characters. It takes a bit of time to get going (as in, it really doesn't get insanely amazing until halfway through season two). INSANELY RIDICULOUS PLOT!
3. Death Note - An anime available in subbed or dubbed format. The first season is sooo good. The characters are well-developed and the plot is, like Buffy, INSANELY RIDICULOUS AND AMAZING!
