The other thing I can say is to make sure that you have all the files extracted and are in that same exact folder. The game won't work if the exe is outside of the folder with all the additional files in it. If the exe is still inside the folder with the other contents and still doesn't work...

The only thing I could think about is trying to delete the save file if you have an essentials save file. This seems like an issue with the program itself.

I'm unable to recreate this glitch. I'm able to save and load both versions of the game. By chance, do you have a save file for any other essentials type game. If so, loading that file onto the game may be the result in that error.
