perhaps your father was the owner of a mining company and he sacked one of the grunts/leader. that could be a good enough reason. or perhaps the leader of the group used to work for the professor but lost his job and wants to steal the profesors work out of hatred.

thats a good idea as well. The grudge could be something to do with school for instence you as the player got to work for the professor because you passed your exams, but the person who steals the pokemon could have flunked his exams and ended up without a job so he puts together a team to try...

@Ark_Silvanos You have a few good ideas unfortunatly i don't know about the story line yet but if i find out i'll tell you. Also i would just like to add that onces the storyline is complete if i could be told so i can start scripting.
