When first playing Red I followed some of the type match ups in the anime and felt quite dumb for it later. I also decided to only level up my Squirtle, EVER. Needless to say I DID lose a few Gyms but after a while, Even Surge and Erika went down without a fight.
So far the game for me the game looks great. But of course everything has it's ups and downs.

Pros:
-The new "Pick starter, battle rival" beginning where you battle the other 2 starters you didnt take. I thought that was rather cool, but it also disappointed me because when...
I kinda dislike how the Elemonkies are looking at becoming a "second Starter" of sorts.
And though I like Choroneko and it's dark type, resisting the Bites of 2 of the more common starting out pokemon, it really is not something for taking OR dealing damage.

Just out of curiosity who else out there has ever tried out the type matchups constantly made in the show? Like when Ash used Pikachu to take down the Ryhdon. When I was young and saw that episode I was like "Gee thanks, Anime, I will use that tip!". And when it failed I kinda stopped trusting...
