I found low encounter rate Pokemon to be persistently frustrating, even with emulator speedup. Unless it's meant to be a super-secret easter egg, I don't think any encounter should be rarer than a 1 in 10 chance. I also don't understand why a quality of life feature like buying bulk coins is...
- Glitch: NPCs walking from/to the bottom of the screen are rendered in front of the menu, sometimes blocking the "exit" option. This does not happen in vanilla.
- Suggestion: the mandatory Cut bush East of Cerulean should be replaced with a blocker Pokemon similar to the one in Vermillion...
- It's great to have an expanded options menu, but accessing it is confusing. Messing around actually revealed a vanilla functionality I wasn't aware of before: pressing Start enters/exits main menu options (including starting a new game). It would probably work better if "next" was a selectable...
Some sort of weight system would be good. Right now I have to save scum before every trainer fight, else I black out and lose half my money. It would also be nice if blacking out wasn't so expensive, but that's a separate issue.
I've been using randomized trainers, and I have to say that Snorlax is absolutely miserable. It starts with Headbutt, Amnesia, and Rest, meaning most Pokemon get walled by it indefinitely. Another problem is Gyarados, who starts with Dragon Rage and Hydro Pump. Fighting either of these in the...
There's a visual glitch with the man by the grass to the south of the Route 3 Mt Moon entrance / Pokemon center. When the player walks right, the tile beneath him flashes. This is on the dev patch.
The "secret" house holding the Fly HM on Route 16 always bothered me. You find two NPCs there, both congratulating you for the feat of reaching it. This is despite the location being completely trivial to find - it's impossible to miss the Cut tree on the main path leading there. I was thinking...
That's not how it behaves right now. Nuzlocke, level limit, and 60 fps mode all carry over automatically, while everything else resets. The other settings only carry over if you examine the settings menu before starting a new game, which is not intuitive.
- When starting a new game with an existing file, the text speed setting resets to default. This only happens if you press "new game" straight after booting up the rom - if you press "options" on the main menu beforehand to take a look, it carries over fine.
- If you have the Bike Voucher in...
Yep, works fine now. On an unrelated note, I would consider making 60fps mode the default mode for the hack. It works so well that I don't see any reason ever not to use it.
The new bps patches aren't working, it's giving me "This patch is broken and can't be used". I tested FLIPS with an unrelated bps patch as control so it's not a problem with that.
- The current Lite ips patch release is the same as the full version.
- It also has TMs never get consumed. That part might be an improvement, since shin's placement of purchasable TM's is quite haphazard and hard to remember.
- When adding the PC to the daycare man, the sprite was also added...
The daycare man will not accept any pokemon with HM moves. I assume this was originally intended to avoid daycare-related softlocks, but I'm pretty sure that's impossible to achieve in RBY. That restriction should probably be removed for quality of life sakes'.
