I agree seeing Rattata may get boring, you could try randomized (Sprites, i think that is the right term) pokemon.

Sorry i've said this before but............nobody aggreed or disagreed. Get items that increase a chance of them joining your team. E.G. Farefeth'd, you need a leak. Munchlax, Food.

Maybe if you have something they like E.G Farefetch'd, you need a leak You'll get a better chance of them joining your team. And have on the device a (a farely basic boring thing) clock/time. Plus while exploring you can recieve different upgrades on your device.
