I concur, the problem is either nostalgia, ignorance, or fear of diversity. Gen 1 had just one artist and now they have 10 with different ideas. Maybe that could be a cause?

Think about it this way, with a corny analogy. It's better to have a train that keeps moving, so more people can get on, rather than have a train that stays in place with the same people.
