For some reason on my brother's Soul Silver, while he was trying to catch Groudon it used Earthquake and it hit his Lugia. However, when he switched out and the second time Lugia came in, Groudon used Earthquake and it said "It doesn't affect Lugia" Gravity was not in effect.

I would probably try this with the Shiny Gyarados from Lake of Rage that I fully EV trained. However, I don't really want to restart my game :( Is beating the re-run sufficient? XD
