The title threw me a little bit because I always considered ROM base to mean the ROM you're hacking (e.g. Red or Gold), but yeah, I agree with the microwave analogy. It gets the job done, but it's not as good as the real thing. Also, (slightly offtopic) Banjora Marxvile, I love the NW5 theme...

I read about it in a magazine (I think it was called 'Pojo Pokémon' or something like that). I've still got the magazine, but I cut all the screenshots out when I was a kid.
