Pokémon Sprite Discussion [from RBYG to XY]

Let's do Electabuzz!!

Spoiler:

Red/Blue:

I think this one's pretty good actually. A little fat looking haha.

Yellow:

Hmm, I think the RB one looked better. The hands look akaward.

Gold/Silver:

Gold's kinda reminds me of Hitler lol. And the Silver one looks like it's gunna jump out of the Gameboy and eat me...

Crystal:

It's a macho man. Fear it and its little electrical horns.

Ruby/Sapphire:

Wow, the color died. And the pose is boring.

Emerald:

Meh, the color is still dead, but the animation is ok.

FireRed/LeafGreen:

The color is back, but the pose is so LAMEEEE. And the shiny version looks like it got major sunburn lol.

Diamond/Pearl:

I thought that Nintendo did a good job with this one. The colors right, the pose is cool, good job lol.

Platinum:

No.

Heart Gold/Soul Silver:

Epic awesome. My favorite without doubt.

Electabuzz is an example of a pokémon whose sprite hasn't changed very much at all over the years :]

My favourite is the D/P one. Monkeybusiness!

Probably because of technology at the time, at least we got animations in the 3rd gen, some good some not so good

Pretty good, and he's aiming at the enemy this time! :D

A bit brighter than usual. And he's aiming upwards again.

I like this one, a lot more shading on him.

Pretty good actually, a nice recovery from the awful dppt ones.

My favorite magmar sprites would have to be crystal, frlg and hgss.

Let us examine Skarmory:

Gold, surprising not bad, doesnt have the red on its wings, but it looks decent.

Silver, if i may ask, what in gods name were they thinking?

Crystal, not bad, had the red wings and a decent sprite, but inferior to Gold Version.

Emerald, goes from gold sprite, to silver sprite, back to gold...

Diamon Pearl....awfully similar to Ruby/Sapphire...different shading and colors

Platinum, hope they didn't hurt themselves on that.

didn't know how to get R/S or FR/LG sprites, the site doesn't have their front sprites.

Nidoking

The face looks like a fish and he has boobs R/G

Best Sprite ever IMO R/B

Looks so stupid Y

Another awful Sprite, it looks like he's hugging the air S

Eh a alright locking one, much better than the Silver and Yellow G

Looks pretty good C

I hate all the R/S Sprites, and they made him way too light R/S

At least they dulled the color E

It would look alright if the head wasn't the size of a peanut, and it didn't look like it had Clefable wings FR/LG

Looks God awful and they made the color too bright again, almost as bad as it's R/G sprite D/P/Pt

Finally a good sprite after all that time HG/SS

I would have to say my favorite sprite for Nidoking is it's RB sprite.

Green, looks like someone brushed its vines downwards.

R/B, Tangela is quadratic :shocked:

Yellow, Too dark

Gold, were's its colour? This stupid green is awful

Silver, is it tripping or what?!

Crystal, Same Sprite as in Gold, but the colour is back!

R/S, Too much light. Looks like it is in front of a spotlight

LG/FR, Too much Light

Emerald, Poor animation, same thing with the light

D/P, Wow the first good sprite. My favourite.

Platinum, That one is good, too, but I like the other position better

HG/SS, that one disappears me. Its vines and feets shrinked! It looks like one of the first gen sprites.

I used to think red's back sprite looked like Mario.

Tangela looks like someone pulled his pants down and he's covering it up.:laugh:

Pretty much all Yellow sprites sucks a.. i'm not going to say that, but they are really, really bad. I mean, they may LOOK cool, but the coloring is just sad. I mean, yes, it is Pokemon Yellow, but that doesen't mean EVERYTHING HAS to be yellow! Jeez Nintendo, what's up with the yellow people, the yellow pokemon, EVERYTHING YELLOW?

Yellow must be the stupidest pokemon game ever. Especially since you start with Pikachu and you can only catch bugs, a flying type, and normal types that early. Seriously.. were you supposed to beat Brock the same way as Ash did in the anime? I don't think so. How did you do it?

Anyway, Yellow sprites may have looked good, but the coloring was lololololololololololololololollolololololololololfail.

@Moltres: Get a Butterfree.

A lot of Yellow sprites were coloured okay and didn't look yellow (at least not when I played them on my GBA SP) but there were some that looked terrible...

Okay, now Bellossom:

The flowers are flying from the head. The leaf skirt is too large. And the colors don't match with any of Bellossom's artworks.

Cuter, but that's what i call a BIG HEAD!!

Now the colors match, but why are those leaves red??!! Fall, maybe?

This is a cute sprite. The shading is a little overloaded but it's a good sprite.

"OMG! I'm falling, I'm falling! Whew... that was close... Oh, no! Not again!"

This is a Bellossom. Less shading, and also cleaner. The best so far.

This one is pretty too, and the animation is more dynamic. HGSS has the best sprites.
