  • Well, I decided to start work on another project of mine while Yitria is a bit on the fritzy side of the brain. This project is Inferno Red, a remake (I'm not quite sure if that's the right word to even use anymore for this game) of Red Version, with some new things. That being said, there's not much left to do than post info on the game.

    Story/Plot:
    The plot is basically the same as it was in Red Version. Not much has changed, if anything, so I really am not sure what to put for this x.x;
    The game spans over a timeframe of 1.5 years, meaning it's plots and sideplots end within 1 year before GSC's frame of events.

    Features:
    * Kanto being totally redone in Gen II tiles (As best as it can... I've run into a few "small" snags along the way)*
    * Being the game is before GSC, but not that far before, Kanto has the expanded routes that were added in GSC. Ie: Route 26, 27, Tohjo Falls, etc.
    * 9 HM's, Whirlpool being HM 09**
    * MissingNo. will be available in the game, sans it's Red Version counterpart effects. Other glitch pokemon are debatable, at best.
    * /Only/ Kanto and Johto Pokemon will be catchable in this game. Should the game get longer somehow, Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokemon will most likely be implemented.
    * Some fathomable rumors that were proven false in Pokemon Gen I games are added. IE: Pallet Garden, Bill's Mountain Garden.
    There's probably a bit more I'm forgetting to add, but I'm posting this at 8 am EST, so I'm a bit sleepy x.x

    (If the images aren't good this way, tell me and I'll fix them. Same goes for if the links break x.x)
    Credits:
    Pokemon Essentials Starter Kit - Poccil
    GSC Tileset being used - I honestly don't know. I got it as part of the gadesx resource kit I downloaded (I've edited a bit to add tiles that were missing from the given tiles; I haven't finished ripping in the tiles) If anyone knows the owner, please tell me.
    (If I'm forgetting to credit anyone, please tell me and I'll add it as soon as I get the message)

    Anyways, I guess that's all. Feedback of any kind is appreciated and greatly welcome, even if its constructive criticism.

    Not bad. I've been playing my Gold/Silver games recently and those screen shots have really reminded me of what the older games where like.

  • Well I'm glad to hear that. I was trying to go for a true remake of RBY using the GSC graphics, as I felt very cheated of Kanto in the GSC games. All the routes were significantly smaller, and it felt so rushed that I wasn't able to really enjoy it all. With this game, I plan to bring back the feel of RBY, but with a little bit more stuff being added.

  • Just a bit of advice, use
    to show the pics; it's a bit easier, know what I mean? xD

    Now then, the premise is a fascinating one: redoing Red but with the information from GSC is pretty interesting, if you can pull it off xD
    Especially if you manage to make Cinnabar go boom and Mt. Moon collapse.

    Maybe you should consider also adding some elements from the latest games, like an island or two from the Seviis. Just a suggestion, of course, and seeing as you want to keep true to Red, you probably shouldn't use it.

    One last suggestion: since you'll be using GSC tiles, you should use GSC sprites for the overworld too. Why don't you try to find the character overworld from Red/Blue and color it?

    Well, good luck on this! =D

    I'll be sure to remember that x.x

    Also, I'm not sure about making Cinnabar go Boom or making Mt. Moon collapse. They are very interesting ideas, but I'm not sure.

    As for the Sevii islands, those'll be added in THIS game's remake, Endless Crimson - along with Johto. I've already planned out a bit of Endless Crimson.

    As for your final suggestion, I suck at recolors and decolors, and all that. I'd love to be able to use some Gen I/II sprites, but I'll need to find someone to recolor the Gen I ones.

    It's really not that hard xD

    I could try to do it sometime, and then sending it back to you.

  • If that offer still stands, I'll be more than glad to accept it. Since I doubt that you're still checking this thread, I may as well message you about it.

    Also, I am the thread starter of this thread (I still wish I was able to change my username as well :/), hence why I Necromanced this thread. If this is a problem with the admins, well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it (Hopefully I didn't get in trouble ;-; )

    Anyways, as for the year-long lack of delays, the dates are what explains everything. My last post here was August 17th. A few days later, School started. Now that I'm on Summer Break, I can finally resume work on my games. I've already worked on a few more maps and am currently finishing up Kanto. After that, I guess I'll have to make placeholder designs for the building interiors with the Gen III tiles, since I can't get my hands on decent Gen II Interior tiles.

    Anyways, yeah. Long story short, I return, woo-hoo, back to work doing whatever it is you all were doing.

  • Sorry, necro-posting after such a long period of time without including new assets isn't allowed, you'd be better off just opening a new thread.

    Anyway, I'll just be closing this now.
