  • Hey. Not sure if I'm doing this right but here it goes.

I'm put together a Competitive Battling team but I hardly ever win a battle. Even though I have the advanced most of the time.

I was hoping if people would look at my team and see what is wrong with my team.

    Here is the Team:

    Charizard
    Spoiler:

    Ampharos
    Spoiler:

    Lapras
    Spoiler:

    Zoroark
    Spoiler:

    Metagross
    Spoiler:

    Staraptor
    Spoiler:

    So can people help me?
    Great Thanks :)

  • Fly is too easily played around competitively. It's not worth bothering. Here are much better sets for Charizard to use. Use physical moves only for Charizard X. The only physical move Charizard Y should use is Earthquake:
    -Dragon Dance
    -Flare Blitz/Fire Punch
    -Dragon Claw/Outrage
    -Earthquake/Roost/Swords Dance
    Nature: Jolly/Adamant
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite X
    Ability: Blaze

    Or
    -Fire Punch/Earthquake
    -Dragon Tail
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Roost
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 248 HP/84 SDef/176 Spe
    Item: Charizardite X
    Ability: Blaze

    Or
    -Fire Blast
    -Solar Beam
    -Dragon Pulse/Focus Blast
    -Earthquake/Roost
    Nature: Mild/Hasty/Modest/Timid
    EVs: 4 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite Y

You can only Mega Evolve one Pokemon per battle. Having two Mega Pokemon is inefficient. Instead this team needs Rapid Spin/Defog support for Charizard and Staraptor is preferred over Ampharos's slot. Use either one of these:

    Starmie:
    -Hydro Pump/Surf
    -Thunderbolt/Psyshock
    -Ice Beam
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Life Orb
    Ability: Natural Cure

    or
    -Scald
    -Rapid Spin
    -Psyshock/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt
    -Recover
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 248 HP/32 Def/4 SAtk/224 Spe
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Natural Cure

    Excadrill:
    -Earthquake
    -Rock Slide/Iron Head
    -Rapid Spin
    -Swords Dance/Stealth Rock
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Air Balloon/Chople Berry
    Ability: Mold Breaker

    or
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head
    -Rock Slide
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 120 HP/136 Atk/252 SDef (Adamant) or 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe (Jolly)
Item: Assault Vest (Adamant)/Choice Scarf (Jolly)
    Ability: Mold Breaker

    Mandibuzz:
    -Foul Play
    -Roost
    -Taunt/Whirlwind
    -Defog/Toxic/Knock Off
    Nature: Bold/Impish
    EVs: 248 HP/216 Def/44 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Overcoat

    Crobat:
    -Brave Bird
    -Defog
    -Roost
    -Taunt/Toxic
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 168 HP/136 Atk/4 SDef/200 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Infiltrator

    Tentacruel:
    -Scald
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Rapid Spin
    -Toxic/Knock Off
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 252 HP/224 Def/32 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Liquid Ooze

Really, Lapras isn't that good. Its defensive typing is poor, leaving defensive stats out of the equation. Wash Rotom is a better alternative because it counters Talonflame:
    -Volt Switch
    -Hydro Pump
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Pain Split/Rest
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 248 HP/216 Def/44 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Chesto Berry

    Or
    -Volt Switch
    -Hydro Pump
    -Thunderbolt/Pain Split/Hidden Power Ice
    -Will-o-Wisp
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 228 HP/60 SAtk/220 Spe
    Item: Leftovers

    Or
    -Volt Switch
    -Hydro Pump
    -Thunderbolt/Hidden Power Ice
    -Trick
    Nature: Timid/Modest
    EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Choice Specs/Choice Scarf

Really, I don't think that Zoroark is that viable anymore because of its Fairy weakness. Bisharp is a better alternative because it threatens Fairies:
    -Sucker Punch
    -Knock Off
    -Iron Head
    -Swords Dance/Substitute
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Black Glasses/Dread Plate/Leftovers
    Ability: Defiant

Metagross is best played as an Assault Vest user. But I think that having 2 Steels is kinda problematic since I suggested Bisharp because of how Bisharp and Metagross share weaknesses. An alternative is Goodra:
    -Draco Meteor
    -Fire Blast
    -Thunderbolt/Sludge Bomb
    -Focus Blast/Dragon Tail
    Nature: Modest/Quiet/Sassy
    EVs: 248 HP/252 SAtk/8 SDef
    Item: Assault Vest
    Ability: Gooey/Sap Sipper

If you want to keep Metagross, use this set instead:
    -Meteor Mash
    -Bullet Punch
    -Earthquake
    -Zen Headbutt/Pursuit
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 SDef
    Item: Assault Vest
    Ability: Clear Body

Aerial Ace is a weak move. It only sees use on Mega Aerodactyl because it benefits from Tough Claws. Staraptor is best used with Talonflame, as both can wear down each other's counters together. But if you insist :
    -Double-Edge/Return
    -Brave Bird
    -Close Combat
    -U-turn
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item Choice Band/Choice Scarf

And just saying but you don't need to say your Pokemon's IVs, stats and characteristics. Only the natures and EVs matter.
