    challenge
    now in version 2!
    original challenge and CSS by
    deku
    the concept
In this challenge, you are to use an official theme deck (official as in published by the Wizards of the Coast or by the Pokemon Company, not a deck you made yourself) and use the cards in the deck to build a Pokemon team to use in a game that you choose.

    the rules
    1. All PC rules apply.
    2. You must use Pokemon whose cards are in the deck that you choose.
    3. Any Pokemon is allowed as long as it is in your deck.
    4. Trading or hacking for Pokemon or eggs that can't be found in your game is allowed.
    5. Emulators are allowed.
    6. HM slaves are allowed.
    7. This challenge is for any of the main series RPG games (RBYG/GSC/RSE/FRLG/DPPt/HGSS/BW).
    8. Please update! We want to hear about your adventure.
    9. Have fun!
    10. This challenge ends when:

    • RBYG/FRLG: Defeat the E4.
    • GSC/HGSS: Defeat PKMN Trainer Red.
    • RSE: Defeat the E4, or Steven in Emerald.
    • DPPt: Defeat the E4.
    • BW: Defeat Champion Alder.

    choosing a deck
To choose a deck, go here and choose any of the English or Special theme decks. There are many to choose from, so you should be able to find one that suits you.

    now what?
Now that you have a deck, click on it and you will find a list of cards that are included in that deck. Any of the Pokemon listed as a card can be used in your team. You can only use the Pokemon are listed, and if they are not fully evolved you must keep it that way. The only rule that you must follow is the play through the game using only Pokemon in the deck that you choose. Some optional rules are to nickname yourself and your party based on the trainer cards in your deck, to not use legendaries even if they are in your deck, using moves similar to the move(s) on the card for your Pokemon, or any other restriction that you can think of.

Hey I'll give this a try also:

    Username: Ash&pikachuarethebest
    Game: Black
    Deck: Furious Knights

I will be taking my time with this challenge also since I will be playing it on my actual copy of Black as it might encourage me to actually complete the game as I have found it so boring lol.

  • I'll hack in Growlithe at the start of my game, is that okay?
So roughly this'll be my team at the end of the game:
    - Reshiram
    - Arcanine ( Hack in as Growlithe )
    - Persian ( Hack in as Meowth )
    - Chandelure
    - Basculin
    and Vannilite

  • Awright. So I hacked in the three Pokemon that I won't be able to get ingame (Dratini, Rattata and Wooper) very early on. I'll play with a team of three until I get to Fiery Path, which is where Koffing can be found.
    The team so far:
    Phon- Level 17 :P
    E_May.png

    Badges:2

    Rocket- Level 20
    Spr_3r_195.png

    Water Gun
    Tail Whip
    Slam
    Mud Shot

    Mussy- Level 20
    Spr_3r_019.png

    Tackle
    Tail Whip
    Quick Attack
    Hyper Fang
Item: Everstone (Raticate isn't in the deck)

    Komodo- Level 20

I've just realised i can't get any of my pokemon until just after the first gym and then after that i can get two of them straight away do you mind if i play the game till then? Because I also can't hack anything into my game unless anyone one has Pokemon Black AR codes but i will need the master code for it to work on my game as for some reason i can't update my AR with the USB wire??:-/

'Kay, I got started my challenge. I decided that I would count the number of:
    Potions Used
    Pokecenters Used
    Run Aways
I didn't set any limits, except for Run aways, I can only run away 20 times. So Far:
    8 Pokecenters used
    4 Potions used
    1 Run Away

I started out with a bashful lvl3 Chikorita, named Leaf.
As of now, it's the most useful, with the quickest grow rate, and most attacking moves. Right now, it's evolved and is a lvl 18 Bayleef. It has Pokerus, I do not even know what that means. I soloed Roxanne with this. It has Razor Leaf, PoisonPowder, Tackle, and Reflect. It's ability is Overgrow. I favor its Sp Attack and Defense.

My Snubbull is named Dogma, after a certain movie... It's nature is Hardy.
Right now, it is the least useful. It's not bad, it's just not as useful as the others. It has Tackle, Tail Whip, Charm, and Scary Look (or Face, or whatever it's called). Right now, it is lvl 14. I didn't use this in the gym battle against Roxanne. It's Ability is Run Away. I favor its Attack.

My Natu is named All Knowin, because it reminded of a seeing eye. It is of a Timid nature. It is lvl 15, and is more useful than Dogma, but less useful than Leaf. I didn't use this against Roxanne. It has Leer, Peck, and Night Shade. It's ability is Early Bird. I favor its speed.

I might also do the same as you and I agree limiting how many pokemon centres to use would be daft how ever maybe not your potions I'll think of something lol :-)

▸ Went to Dewford, entered the cave and caught an Aron, named it "Touken".
▸ Saved in Granite Cave while grinding once again, this time in hopes of evolving Kasei before the next gym.

  • I am very sorry, I have to clear up some time simply to do my current challenge, so can I withdraw? I am not very good at training and am not very patient so I will withdraw for now.....

If I do re-enter, I will pick a different deck and game.

  • I just completed my Overgrowth deck run on Red. Here are some screens of the hall of fame (sorry for quality my computer was having issues taking screenshots).

    My team was,
    Tentacles, the Ivysaur. Lv. 48
    143/82/93/88/102
Cut, Poison Powder, Sleep Powder, Razor Leaf

    Gem, the Starmie. Lv. 51
    139/100/111/142/122
    Swift, Psychic, Recover, Surf

Rawr, the Gyarados. Lv. 59 MVP
    209/193/138/136/145
    Thunderbolt, Dragon Rage, Strength, Surf

Overall i think it was a pretty successful run, not very hard but still enjoyable.

  • TCG Challenge (Team Magma Deck)
    Update #2 (Final Update)

▸ Decided just to go ahead and battle Brawly, actually won with only Touken (Mud-Slap + Iron Defense = Victory)
▸ Kasei evolved into a Houndoom before battling Brendan.
    ▸ Defeated Brendan.
    ▸ Defeated Wattson easily.
▸ Defeated Team Magma at Mt. Chimney.
    ▸ Defeated Flannery.
▸ Touken evolved into a Lairon after the gym battle.
▸ While looking for a Baltoy, I ended up running into a Shiny Cacnea. I caught it, but it's a shame that I can't use it.

    lolokay.png

▸ Finally found and caught a Baltoy, named it "Guujin".
▸ Trained it up a little before taking on the next gym.
    ▸ Defeated Norman.
    ▸ Defeated Team Magma again.
    ▸ Defeated Winona.
▸ Guujin evolved into a Claydol.
    ▸ Defeated Liza and Tate.
    ▸ Defeated Maxie.
▸ Touken evolved into an Aggron.
    ▸ Defeated Wallace.
▸ Did a little training before taking on the E4.
▸ The Elite Four were pretty easy.
▸ Steven wasn't too much of a challenge once Touken started using Iron Defense.
