    Just a quick question. If the first Pokemon of your type available is not able to level up on its' own, due to no offensive attacks at the level it's caught at, can you use your starter to level it up until it learns a damaging move?

    I'm pretty sure you can use your starter to train it until it can fight for itself. Or at least you could in the old thread, I'm not sure about this one. But I think you can.

    I had already finished a Steel MC in Emerald before I registered here and I want to turn it into a UMC. Can I do that?

    I also think you can simply
    copy and paste sprites if you're using IE. I might be wrong, though.

    Challenge: Ultimate Monotype.
    Version: FireRed.
    Type: Normal.

    Progress::


    • Ran into a sleeping snorlax. Used the pokeflute to wake him up, battled a little with my raticate Twister, and caught him. Nicknamed "Volcano".
    • Made it to Fuchsia City where I battled Koga and defeated him.
    • Played around in the Safari Zone for awhile. Wanted to stay long enough to catch some real exciting Normal-types, but lost patience. Obtained HM Surf and peaced out.
    • Taught Volcano HM Surf. Surfed down to Seafoam Islands for the training experience, but didn't stick around too much there. (Also reminded me that I have yet to get HM Strength...woops, better get on that.)
    • Flew to Pallet Town on my Farfetch'd, Ch'ding, and surfed down on towards Cinnabar Island.
    Current Team::

    Tempest: male persian, lv. 46.
    Monsoon: male pidgeot, lv. 45.
    Twister: female raticate, lv. 45.
    Quake: female fearow, lv. 37.
    Ch'ding: male farfetch'd, lv. 32.
    Volcano: male snorlax, lv. 30.

    Sure. Just sign-up for the steel monotype ultimate challenge, using the form, start with r/b/y or frlg, then do g/s/c/hg/ss, and then I will move the prior game you completed in emerald to your progress, so then you could move right on to d/p/pt. I will keep the emerald game in the single challenge section, until you complete gsc/hgss. Have fun!

    Started playing in Platinum before I read the reply, so I'll gonna pause it in favor of Gen I and II games.

    I also intend to hack a Beldum, Skarmory and Aron in FireRed. Can I do that?

    Well, I don't think you actually have to play FireRed for a Steel monotype, since it didn't exist in Gen I. (Dark type as well)

    Illuminaughty, your counsel is needed.

    But hacking should be allowed if you want to do the Kanto games.

    In the meantime, I'll go create a game in SoulSilver.

    Do the GTS glitch work in emulators? I want to evolve a Scyther.

    Can I also hack in SoulSilver, seeing that I only have emulators? I want to hack Piplup and Riolu eggs.

    Also, seeing that I've already started playing Platinum, can I play it simultaneously with SoulSilver?

    You can get your first pokemon before the first gym (trade in Violet City for the Onix, who evolves into Steelix), so per the rules you can't hack anyone in. As for evolving Scyther, GTS doesn't work with emulators, but you can either evolve him by editing him with Pokesav, or by using a Evolution Editor, which you can find pretty easily. Make sure you get one for HG/SS, and you'll need to use it for Steelix, too, hehe. I think the steel pokemon available in SS are: Steelix, Magneton/zone, Forretress, Scizor, and Skarmory. so you have more than enough options.
