Originality is long since dead. If you want to make it these days... it's all aboit ingenuity. There isn't much left to find, so it's how you use what you got that counts. Because being honest here, no matter how "original" you are, there is at least one other piece of work that has the same concept or displays very similar themes and goals. You would not consider Lord of The Rings Thundercats, but they are both stories that follow the travails and triumphs of traveling warriors. Pokemon and Digimon are not the same--but the basic premise is using monsters that evolve to battle for you. No originality between these pieces.... the beauty comes in in how they decide to weave this tapestry, not the subject of it.

  • Probably the first season of Digimon. Seven kids at summer camp getting sucked into another world with monsters and high-tech devices to help their monsters fight? GENIUS!

All ideas are inspired by something. I think that's okay. It's not where you take things from, it's where you take them to.

Yeah, but what's the most original? Like, how much did they take their idea and stretch it out?
