Shadows in the dark...

It was a haiku, albeit an ominous one. A young boy sat near the bookshelf from which he had pulled the dusty old tome. He flipped through the rest of the book, but the long paragraphs and small text were a bit much for his 7-year-old mind to focus on after the strange book's introductory haiku. After what seemed to him like an eternity of contemplation, he risked to read the peom aloud...

Immediately, tremors occured across the world, causing widespread panic, including this child in Sootopolis City. These tremors centered on Mt. Moon and Cerulean Cave in Kanto, the Ice Path and Mt. Silver in Johto, the Cave of Origin and Meteor Falls in Hoenn, and Mt. Coronet and the Celestic Town Ruins in Sinnoh. For several days afterwards, an ominous mist rose from these caves; it seemed that a calamity was nigh. None came. The mist receded, and several experience spleunkers soon gathered the courage to check the caves. Oddly, they found nothing amiss. The ordeal slowly disappeared into memory.

As for the boy in Sootopolis City? Fearing the book and its powers, he took it from the library and hid it in his home, lest someone else find it. He never spoke about the book to anyone. At last, he too began to forget...

One by one, the explorers who investigated the afflicted caves fell ill. One night each month, another of them would fail to wake. It was not death; the slipped into a comatose sleep that nothing would seem to wake. This continued until each of the explorers had fallen. A curse? Perhaps...

Seven years later, an Oreburgh coal miner found a strange black plate in the earth. He read aloud, unaware of the suffering he would cause, the white text engraved in the back of the plate:

"Here all things shall end...
Silence; no mortal shall bear...
Shadows in the dark..."

The tremors began, as though a seal had been broken. Across an ocean, a teenage boy dashed horrified to his home to dust off a long forgotten book. It seemed old wounds had been opened...

Long ago, I said I'd make an RP when I got in touch with my creative side. Here it is, with some uncreative rules.

Appearance: Jake tries to keep a menacing appearance, and does a good job of it. He has deep brown eyes and nearly black hair, a startling contrast to his paale skin. Shadows beneath his eyes add a finishing touch to his dark look. As for clothes, Jake wears a dark grey cloak tightened at the waist with a light chain. The hood of the cloak usually reaches his hairline, but he often pulls it down to shade his face. Under this, he wears grey jeans and a grey T-shirt, with simple black shoes. He is never seen without the cloak, though he occasionally removes the chain to throw it back as a cape for dramatic effect. Jake stands at about 5'8" and weighs around 115 pounds.

Personality: Despite his sinister appearance, Jake is shy, almost paranoid. He often examines a person for several minutes before he is willing even to speak. He tends to make sarcastic remarks when annoyed, which often gets him into trouble with impatient people. When relaxed, he is actually willing to talk quite a bit, but he doesn't usually start conversations. He also has a habit of changing the subject when he feels uncomfortable. In dangerous situations, Jake's primary aim is to end the situation, although he isn't an "at all costs" kind of guy. Though usually calm, he becomes extremely volatile if upset, with violent changes of emotion until he reaches total fury. Though he rarely shows it, he is a veritable expert on Pokemon myth and legends. He doesn't usually use Pokeballs due to a traumatic event that he avoids speaking of. He avoids speaking of his past, to anyone.

Background: (Since other characters actually wouldn't know this, I think it would actually make more sense to reveal it over the course of the roleplay.)

Misc: Jake exhibits strange abilities when infuriated. On an unrelated note, he sometimes uses the chain on his cloak as a makeshift nunchuck. On yet another unrelated note, he has a bird call to get a lift from his dad's Pidgeot.

Appearance: A red hat atop a full head of light brown hair, with the hat symbolizing the top half of a Pokeball. Light brown eyes and a plain white T-shirt, that only slightly stretches over the area of his belt area. Dark blue bands on his wrists, and light blue pants, with Pure black shoes that have dark blue laces. He stands at about 5"9', and on the thinner side, weighing about 109 pounds.

Personality: A rather lonely trainer at times, he often goofs off most of the time, and he can't stay still, he is always looking for something to do. He loves the adrenaline rush of being in a heated battle, or even is few serious moments, making a small joke out of the situation. However when truly needed, he goes all out in battles, serious in truly bad situations, his attitude is, "I'm not gonna give up!"

Background: Ever since he was 11, he has been knocked around by other trainers and people, though he usually proved himself stronger in battles. He came in Second when he has 12 in the Kanto League Finals. However two years later, he traveled around in the Johto region, hate dawning upon him winning the Johto League Finals. He got in a fight at a club once, gaining one of his most trusty Pokemon after being over powered in a fist Fight, Absol. A year later he decided to travel around in the Hoenn Region, not to compete in the League but to explore.

Misc: Call him Patrick, and he will be mad.

Charizard-
Obtained: While Pat was traveling around in Kanto, after Gym Two, he came across a wild Charmander that was looking for fights with all Pokemon it could overpower. Without hesitating, Pat battled it with his Pidgeotto. He threw a Pokeball at it, catching it. Later that day, while training, it had already enough experience battling other wild Pokemon, so it evolved into Charmeleon. It later evolved while facing the Gym Leader Ericka.
Personality: Rather confident of its own power, but usually overpowering most opponents, and serious is bad situations.

Absol-
Obtained: Shown in personality.
Personality: Serious at all times, angry in bad situations or when losing. Its power goes through the rood if it is battling a fierce opponent.

Gyrados-
Obtained: Before getting Gym Badge one, Pat knew he couldn't win with a Pidgey. A Magikarp salesman tricked him into buying a Magikarp, but it soon evolved because Pat decided to train the Pokemon, and it easily overpowered the Pewter City Gym. Gyrados has been one of Pats strongest Pokemon ever since.
Personality: It knows the bounds of its power, and never pushes anything in any situation too far, it never gets confident of its overpowering abilities in battles.

Appearance: The phrase "dragged through a hedge" springs to mind. Permanent morning hair jutting from underneath a worn blue and brown beanie hat, a plain suit jacket over a red t-shirt, and frayed jeans. He isn't unattractively, he just doesn't take pride in his appearance. On his feet, he wears something that looks like a cross between hiking boots, and running shoes. Not oddly tall at 5'11, and a bit on the thin side at 107 lbs. No piercings or tatoos, and he wears a plain silver chain tightly around his neck. He will usually have an earphone in, listening to some obscure indie music , but still managing to keep focused on the conversation/task at hand.

Personality: In accordance with his odd dress sense, Chres has some odd tendencies. He never takes off his hat, except when sleeping, and likes to keep as much on as possible. He is very protective of his personal belongings, not very willing to share with other people. He got his strange nickname by introducing himself as "Seven T. Seven" at parties until people began thinking it was his real name. Slow to anger, but when the fuse is lit, he is like a herd of angry Tauros. He left home at 12, after a huge argument with his parents, which culminated in him putting his fist through their television and kicking down the front door on his way out. Other than these rare outbursts, he is a calm and friendly person, easy to talk to, with a good (if a little offensive) sense of humor.

Misc: Will often try to relieve awkward and tense situations by cracking a bad joke, or singing loudly

Pokemon: Kadabra ("Ferdinand"), Linoone ("Rico"), Pidgey ("Flomp")

Ferdinand: Tends to abuse his Psychic abilities, and can be obnoxious and rude. He will often project your thoughts to other people, allowing them to basically read your mind. To combat this, Chres keeps him in a custom pokeball, which blocks his the source of his abilities, Alpha waves.

Rico: Like most of his species, Rico is jumpy and eager. Doesn't like battling, as it involves too much sideways movement

Flomp: Acts as Chres' messenger, lookout and recon. Very well trained as a homing Pidgey. Chres often talks to Flomp as though the Pidgey could understand him, and through the way Flomp replies, Chres tries to decipher an English reply.

Appearance:AJ is average height and weight, he is Hispanic male which means his skin tone is dark, a tannish kind of tone. He has snowy white hair, that almost looks like platinum. His hair is in a short ponytail, about six or seven inches. His eyes are a angelic baby blue that seem to scream ' Oh my god! It's an Angel!' but his eyes are pretty deceiving. AJ has a medium type face, Not to tense, yet not to 'Cute' it's the whole pretty boy thing, with a great sense of 'I can kick your ass! And it's plastered on my face!' AJ wears a cross pendant right around his neck, it is a shining silver that just seems to kick out at you. AJ's main attire consists of a tight black undershirt made out of generic material, nothing real special. He wears a somewhat small dark crimson red combat vest with flames on the topper sleeves, on the back of the vest it reads in bold white letters ' Made In Heaven' and over that he wears a large white trench coat that has a cross on the back that is black and also the title, 'Fallen Angel'. He wears tight black pants, a nice leather texture. He also wears black combat boots, they have an iron sole in each shoe for more efficient walking. He has black fingerless gloves, they aren't fuzzy, just real padded. He is muscular, but not in the way that muscles are bulging everywhere and it looks like your kind of on steroids... AJ has a gold hoop in his left ear ( Not Gay!) About 5'7, 145 lbs



Personality: Apparently by veiw, AJ is a badass. AJ plays the 'Good Cop, Every survivor counts. Doesn't matter what happens to me' card. He also tries to make sure that no one has to get hurt in a bad situation and this will also go for the bad guy, he has tried to keep this trait ever since learning that a long line of murderers and crooks were his descendants, he will try to make everything right and make up for his descendants sins. He is an overall nice guy but does get fed up pretty easily by annoying people, he has a very great level of sarcasm and has the greatest comebacks for when he is insulted, which would seem out of character for a guy like him. He has a pretty decent sense of justice, and not to mention the fact that he loves adventure.AJ isn't someone you really want to anger, but to anger him you have to actually try since it takes alot to actually anger him. Considering getting fed up and actually getting angered are totally different. He is serious and strict in battle but will also have a sense of humor to lighten up all the tense moments, this makes him a good companion. Even when your on his nerves he will try to help you out, but as said before he is not good to be around when angry. And that is pretty much AJ, the 'good cop who wants everyone to be safe'

Background: AJ has lived in Johto for most of his life, at age twelve he gathered all the badges, Before getting to go to the leauge he was appointed gym leader of Blackthorn; AJ finnaly got his chance when he was fourteen to go; AJ became the Champion of the Johto Leauge, When AJ turned 17, he decided to go to Sinnoh.

Appearance: Donny is on the tall side. Towering at 6'2", he has a commanding appearance. He is also muscular. Not huge, but muscular. He has black hair spiked to the side and green eyes. He wears a white T-shirt covered by a black leather jacket that goes down past his knees. He keeps the jacket open. Donny also has a string around his neck like a necklace with an emerald gem in front. He wears jeans and black sneakers. He wears a wristband around his right wrist with the same type of gem around his neck on it. He has a watch on his left wrist.

Personality: Although based on his appearance he can be slightly intimidating, he is a kind person and gets along well with others. He is always up for a challenge, but can be extremely stubborn and will not quit even long after he should have.

Background: Donny was born in Veilstone City in Sinnoh around Fighting-type pokémon, but eventually got tired of Veilstone and decided he needed a change of scenery. With him, he brought his only pokémon: Riolu. He went through Hoenn and caught a Trapinch and later went through Johto where he caught a Smeargle. His Riolu evolved into a Lucario after defeating the Hoenn elite 4 and his Trapinch evolved into a Vibrava. Donny would like to travel to Kanto and the Sevii Islands but returned to Veilstone after defeating the Indigo league so he could challenge Maylene. He has not tried to face the Sinnoh gyms yet.

Misc: His name is Don. Period. Donny sounds catchier so he goes by it. Donald is NOT his name. Call him Donald, and you will get one of the strongest smacks across the face ever.

Nickname: Boxer
Gender: Male
Personality: Boxer is very attached to Donny. He, like his trainer, is up for any challenge and will fight to the finish. Unlike Donny, though, he likes to show off more to other trainers occasionally instead of being serious. Donny yells at him for that and Boxer then usually gives him the "Heh heh. Sorry!" attitude. Other times, Boxer gets angered to a point of no return. Donny likes this attitude slightly better because he is more focused on battling.
Obtained: Donny got Boxer as a child when he was still a Riolu. When Donny was facing Wallace at the end of his Hoenn journey, Riolu was almost down for the count when he wanted to show his dedication to battling alongside Donny. That's when it evolved into Lucario and defeated Wallace's Milotic.

Personality: Quake can have very different moods. Sometimes he will be coompletely serious, and other times he will goof off. He can be very brave or get really scared. It's all random.
Obtained: When Donny and Boxer were in Hoenn, a Trapinch saved them from a sandstorm in the desert. Donny then challenged the Trapinch to battle. He was surprised because it already knew Earthquake. He caught the Trapinch and called him Quake. Quake evolved into a Vibrava while battling the Hoenn elite 4.

Nickname: Art
Gender: Male
Personality: Art is somewhat oblivious, but follows orders well. While Quake and Boxer are battling their butts off, Art remains cheering on the sidelines until he's really needed.
Obtained: While in Johto, Donny and his team were exploring the Ruins of Alph when they saw Smeargle in the distance relaxing under a tree. Donny sent Boxer and Quake to perform several sneak attacks. Smeargle had no idea what was going on and completely freaked out. He started running around all over the place and eventually knocked himself out when he ran into a tree. Donny then caught the Smeargle and named him Art. He took him to the nearest center to revive him and told him what happened. Art then gave him the "uuh...ok" attitude and stayed loyal to Donny since then. Before returning to Sinnoh, Donny trained Art to learn several moves with Sketch. He had Art learn Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Heatwave, and Extrasensory.

Personality: Davis comes off as sarcastic, but he really is a cheerful person... Most of the time. If he isn't a good mood, he tends to be disrespectful and mouths off to people. If he is, he generally starts telling jokes at random. He's also very cunning, and can and will con people into giving him money if he needs it.

Background: Davis was born and grew up in Lilycove, Hoenn. His parents had both been trainers who had made it to the Pokemon League, and from their achievements he decided his own future. When he was ten, he left for his journey, and since then has yet to return home. He successfully collected his Hoenn badges, and then decided to go to Sinnoh for further training.

Personality:Sometimes sarcastic and says thing unuseful at bad times. He is very kind and gentle to his friends and his pokemons, he doesn't like it when people makes fun of him.
He was known as a bully when he was younger but, now gentle and calm, he is also brave when his friends are in danger.

Back Ground: Daniel was born in valinon and grew up in valion city but, his parents didn't take care of him because they were dead. Daniel parents died in a mission to stop team rocket for good but, they failed.

Misc: Daniel doesn't know how his parents died and his uncle who takes care of him told him that his parents died in a car accident. Growing up in the cold makes her more sensitive to the heat than most people so she dresses in summer clothes even when others would think of wearing a warmer outfit. Sturdy but rather worn walking shoes and a brown belt with a matching pouch on one side and three Pokeballs on the other make up the rest of her outfit. The only jewelery she wears are a charm bracelet on her right wrist and a black choker around her neck. Her hair is long, white, and usually tied back in a high ponytail with a few strands framing her face. Her skin is fair and her eyes are bright blue with a thin silver ring around each.
Personality: Shine has a very bright personality with an even bright curiosity. She's usually seen with a smile on her face and is fascinated by anything out of the ordinary. Unfortunately she's a bit of an airhead and clumsy though she doesn't seem to realize either. Insults bounce off her so it's very hard to make her mad. For the most part she's a lovable klutz but beneath that is a burning intelligence that isn't often shown around other people so many of the smarter things she does look like mere accidents.
Background: Growing up in Snowpoint meant that Shine spent much of her childhood tossing snowballs and studying. Outdoor activities were uncommon and much time was spent inside in the warmth. When she left her home at age ten to start a Pokemon journey she took a little Vulpix pup with her as her starter. The pup was the child of her families pet Ninetales. She traveled to many different regions, finally returning to Sinnoh when she was 15.
Misc: Each of Shine's Pokemon wear a bracelet identical to her own. Each is named after one of the legendary lakes in the Sinnoh region.

The cloaked Trainer stepped back from the entrance of the Cave of Origin, mirrored by his Houndoom, Weavile, and Umbreon.

Suddenly, he made a stupid dash into the cave. Several seconds later, he backed out when he found that the fog made him feel strangely dizzy.

Recalling his Dark Pokemon, he ran into his house near the cave and gathered some stuff, mostly berries and potions. Running outside and blowing a whistle, he shouted, "Sorry Dad, I'm heading out. I'll be back within a few days!" With that, he hopped onto the Pidgeot he called and took off towards Celestic Town in Sinnoh.
