    THE DEADLINE
    Your hearts will be broken on February 29th, 2008.

    THE VERDICT
    When the judge(s) come to a final vedrict from the contest, a new results topic will be created for you to comment on them. Such topic will be posted after the the next contest, around March 7th.

  • I guess i'll be the first to sign up.

    Tornado Alley-A Symbolistic Love/Hatred Poem

    In My Dorm Room
    On the floor
    Praying and praying
    Hearing the tornado outside
    Destroying everything in its path
    In a matter of seconds
    Suddenly
    The winds dramatically pick up
    Debris is flying all around me
    My grip lets go of the door
    And then I fly away
    Like a paper airplane
    The next time I open my eyes
    I'm somewhere in the middle of nowhere
    Starting over.

    Oh, and when is the winner for last month's poem going to be announced?

    n_n I was waiting, so that I wasn't the first to post again~ <3
    But I will now.

    ~~~~~~~~~
    //Infatuation\\
    Falling Fast
    Loving Long
    Beat for Beat
    Rhythmic Song
    Calling Loud
    Ringing Still
    Lending Ear
    Just Crystal
    Be the one I see in dreams
    Shattered Faded Memory
    Past is Blind
    Truth Reveal
    Faded Laugh
    Broken Vow
    Believe it with my own two eyes
    Falling Fast
    Loving Dies.
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    Infatuation is an intense but short-lived and irrational passion for somebody or something.
    Just like thinking everything is perfect and will last for forever, the things you cherish most are just like a crystal. Crystals are temporary and may shatter; Diamonds are the things that last forever.
    The saying that seeing is believing, doesn't compare with actually believing with your heart. Some things, like love, can be seen through blind eyes and still be real, if your heart believes them~

    ♥Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day, (late) Everybody~ <3♥

    Whispers

    One may never find the soft beckons of her mind
    The whispers that allure the tremulous voices
    That claw their way out of the confines of the day—

    Into and out of these wary walls of fantasy
    Will my words of undying devotion
    Reach out and embrace her weary ears

    One may never find the sweet and tender caresses
    The faint heartbeats and the gentle warmth
    And the vague yearning for the subtle kisses

    The faint and reverberating whispers
    Running through her soft lips—slowly
    In words unrequited, yet loved:

    Passing—
    through my lips,
    through my soul.

  • Time Is Always The Same

    It's been weeks since I've felt
    Your soft chest cushion my head.

    … Or has it only been seconds since I've felt
    Your deep passionate eyes grazing me?

    No, it must be months since I've felt
    Your warm loving lips pressed into my own.

    … But maybe it's been only minutes since I've felt
    Your delicate fingers fitted perfectly into mine.

    Yet it could be days since I've felt
    Your comforting arms enveloping me…

    Possibly it's been but hours since I've felt
    Your gentle caressing hands brush my skin.

    … Alas, I think it's been years since I've felt
    Any flickering touch of your true love.

    It's difficult to decipher just how much
    Time has truly passed us by when
    What feels like years could be minutes,
    And what seems like seconds might be weeks.

    Yet to our abandoned lonesome hearts,
    Time's frivolous definitions bear no weight.
    To a true love distanced,
    Two dimensions of time exist only;
    Precious time with one's dearest love,
    And the hollow time without.

    Time is always the same in both;
    Either moving too slowly,
    So that the torture erodes your soul
    With each second that lasts a year,
    Or going by much too quickly,
    Where your intimate weeks together
    Have the length of minuscule minutes.

    Nay time does not limit our lives,
    For it is easily swayed and manipulated,
    Rather our lives are measured by love.

    [This is actually an old poem, I mean not terribly old but I didn't write it for the competition. I was trying but my mind was drawing a blank and I couldn't come up with anything new, sorry! Anyways, my friend said that this poem reminded her of the "Season Of Love" song from the musical RENT and I watched that last night again and have been listening to that song quite a bit so I decided to enter this poem into the contest, all signs seemed to be pointing towards it! Anyways, I wrote it because it had been about 4 months since I'd seen my boyfriend and it felt like so much longer than that, but at the same not not that long. It's just crazy, that's what this poem was supposed to convey! =) Good luck once again to everyone in the contest! And hopefully we'll get the results of last months contest soon!]

  • Here I go.

    "Is it worth it?"

    How you doin' yall? Is love worth the emotional fall?
    I say the answer is no, love is nothing more than a show.
    Opinions everyones got, but what about the people who for love fought?
    Friendships go too far, the fall from love causes one to get hit by a car.
    Now is love worth all that? When the broken heart in heaven is sat?
    Stay single, love ain't worth all the mingle.
    The stress for you, fallin' for love you foo'.
    Nothin' but pain comes from the heart, the owner gets hit there with a dart.
    Now my February freestyle goes out in style, because I say love looks like a crocodile.
    Now they say love don't emotionally shoo, but only for the rich people you foo.
    Happiness ain't love.
    Only for the truly rich. For all of us, our hearts end up in a ditch.
    Happiness ain't love.
    Happiness ain't love.
    Love don't work.

    This is the kind of poem you get from me when I have been listening to hip-hop ._.

  • Mine will not rhyme.

    "And so I wait on this stoop"

    Fourteen years.
    --Fourteen years and sixty-three days.
    Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 467 minutes.
    --The clock just keeps ticking, Second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour.
    And yet I continue waiting. Waiting upon the very stoop that you left me on.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 469 minutes.
    They say that what I believe is barking mad. They are ignorant.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 470 minutes.
    They do not know what I know. They have not felt what I still feel.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 472 minutes.
    You told me you loved me; you told me this was for the better. I cringed.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 473 minutes.
    You left that next morning. You left me on this very stoop to go fight for your country.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 474 minutes.
    It was supposed to be five years; five years and ninty-two days. You never came home.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 476 minutes.
    And so I waited. I waited day after day, week after week, year after year. And you never arrived.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 478 minutes.
    The light grows brighter; it welcomes me with open arms. I still wait.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 479 minutes.
    I never knew how every second lasted so long. How stupid I was.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 480 minutes.
    The light takes my mind. It swirls and curves to the sky; to the sun.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 483 minutes.
    I am flying; flying to you. I will be whole once more.
    --Fourteen years, sixty-three days and 486 minutes.
    Finally, we reunite. We will be together for eternity; I no longer have to wait.

    ____________________________________________________________________

    The whole center of the poem is how one person will go through leaps and bounds to wait for love. In this paticular poem, the narrator waits years for her husband to come home in the war. Little does she know that he perished in the war before he could go home. Since he died a light opened up for the narrator. She wouldn't take it's hands because she was to wait for her husband. Finally, she is taken from Earth by God and is with her husband for eternity.

    LOVE IS LOVE
    DIE IS SAD
    ------------
    LOVE IS LOVE
    TILL YOU DIE
    WHEN YOU DIE EVERY ONE IS SAD
    THEY CANT EAT
    THEY ONLY THINK ABOUT YOU
    WHERE THEY GO ITS YOU
    WHERE THEY STAND THERE IT IS YOU AGAIN

  • ...It's been hard to think of something really good, and I wasn't satisfied with anything I was making throughout the whole month (believe me, my entire wastebasket is full of poems x.x) So here's one of them:

    WorldStone Effigy

    Someone made me to withstand the years,
    Through wars and cheers, poverty and tears.
    Lovers come to bless, their undying love,
    Even after they die, and rise above.
    But what am I...? With no one to share?
    With no one who ever truly cared?
    Then I am reminded of my petrified stance,
    To see a statue cry ... would be a miraculous glance.
    If I am able to make it rain, let it pour!
    Let it bombard the Earth's core!
    If I am to make it shine, let the world burn,
    If it is time to love, it is my turn.

    Silly Statue, rocks can't love! :P

    Dedicated to Caitlin. You let my inspiration unfold again. Thank you. :]
