Kale grew up as the son of a high priority family in Castelia city in the Unova region, both of his parents running an intensely popular business based around the mass distribution of a specialised berry juice product designed to be enjoyed by both people and pokemon. Shortly after his birth however his parents became obsessed with money and Kale ended up becoming neglected. Like most children being "nurtured" by rich and powerful parents, Kale was practically raised by the expensive T.V. his parents put him in front of… the shows he watched taught him right from wrong and allowed him to see the wider world of Unova and beyond from the comfort of his high rise penthouse home. He would often be left alone in his home with nothing but that T.V. and a single pokemon egg housed in a glass case incubator.
In the past, Kales mother had been a famous trainer travelling the World and even challenging the Unova pokemon league, however she gave up on her career as a trainer when she met Kales father soon after her first defeat at the hands of Alder. Her final achievement of her career was the discovery of a rare egg said to contain a pokemon not often seen in the Unova region… and a pokemon said to be deeply linked with the (at the time) very early stages of a new study in pokemon evolution taking place in the far off Kalos region. Unfortunately however the egg never reached maturity and in the end, for its own safety, was placed in a high-tech glass incubator to prevent it from simply dying. Over his time spent alone in his home, Kale began to feel an odd sort of kinship with the weakened egg and after a while… he began to speak to it.
"I don't know if you can hear me in there little pokemon… but I think I'm kinda like you y'know… stuck in a really small place when there's a big wide world around me… y'know sometimes I think that…" And so the conversations would start, growing away from his time in front of a television, Kale started to speak to the egg every day, he thought that if he was all alone and the pokemon was all alone then maybe… they could be friends? Wouldn't that be nice…
With those thoughts of friendship flowing from Kale to the barely living egg… without any single person knowing… something changed… and then one day, it happened. Kales parents had just returned from a business trip abroad and Kale was sitting alone in his room, when a large resounding crack erupted through the house. Gasping with fright, Kale ran to find his parents when he froze dead in the middle of the penthouse lobby. There, in the corner of the room, surrounded by shards of broken egg and shattered glass, stood a pokemon. Kale almost fell over in fright, the little pokemon was very odd looking… not at all like any Kale had seen before. It had a cream coloured body, yet sprouting from the back of its head was a large dark appendage… that appeared to also be a massive pair of jaws. The young pokemon stared at Kale wide eyed and confused before Kale tentatively spoke. "H…hello…" With that single word, a massive smile erupted across the pokemons face. "Maaawiiile!" Kale covered his face as the pokemon lunged at him… however it only took him a few moments to realise that it was only embracing him gently and as he removed his hands the large jaws of the pokemons appendage gave him a long sloppy lick. Most children would have been terrified… but Kale just smiled and laughed happily as his parents burst into the room. His one and only friend was finally with him… he wasn't alone anymore... little did he know that during the linking of their hearts... the little mawile was not the only one who had changed.
A few years later, Kale made his debut as a trainer, he was incredibly talented, inheriting many skills from his encouraging Mother and efficient father. Though due to his lonely upbringing he had very limited people skills… it was during this beginning period that Kale began to trust his new partner, a mawile whom he had named Aria after his love of music, above all others. Despite this, he was an incredible battler and his lack of social skill didn't make him feel any lesser, after all he had heard that one of the worlds best trainers (a young man named Red) barely ever spoke at all. After a while he began to hear whispers of the pokemon trainer academy and decided to take the entrance exams, though not much was expected of the now fifteen year old and his mawile, he aced both the practical and written exams and received his acceptance letter and direct admission to the Suicune dorm within a week. Now he's on his way via boat to the academy, his fairly dark personality, skill in pokemon training and... a much darker secret in tow.
