I have to say, flying types make for a much more fun team than ground types. I'm still mad at nintendo for not having the dark type in generation 1; I miss umbreon already :(
    Anyways, time for an update.
-Named myself Hiro, named rival ??? and chose charmander
    -Beat rival in Oak's lab
-Caught a caterpie and trained it up, beat rival again
-Beat Brock (screwed up with butterfree against onix but in the end didn't cost me)
-Bought magikarp in the pokecenter outside of mt. moon
-Got to cerulean, beat ??? and misty, and caught a mew for an hm slave
    -Went to vermillion city
CURRENTLY - waiting outside of SS Anne (may need to level up some)

    TEAM
Charmeleon, lv. 23 - ember, dig, scratch, leer
Butterfree, lv. 23 - confusion, stun spore, sleep powder, poisonpowder
Gyarados, lv. 23 - bite, water gun, tackle, bubblebeam

Next off another rival battle and possibly surge, I may just leave him for later

Goddammit, Raoto, you beat me. I've been way too busy these days, I haven't had the time to play. Anyway, congratulations, guess I'm gonna have to accept a second place, haha.

Haha. I've been busy as well but I found a few days to push all the way from the beginning to the end in about a days worth of time. I also didn't update at all because I wanted to finish as fast as I could.

The main reason was because I thought you had already finished so I just wanted it to be a close 2nd place. =o

Pthbbbt! I thumb my nose at the legendary Suicune.

    6/26/09
Caught Laplace in a Pokeball after throwing an Ultra Ball and a Great Ball and a Lure Ball.
    Returned to Glitter Lighthouse
Taught Laplace Headbutt to replace Growl
    Cleared Glitter Lighthouse
    Teased Eusine some more
Laplace beat everything in the Cianwood Gym except for a Hitmonchan
    Damn Magnemite...
    Got lucky the second time
Hey, wait, Seaking learns Waterfall by level...
Bought more Poke balls than I'll ever be able to use
    Got a Goldeen
HEh, with this crew, I don't need to worry about catching any more HM Slaves!
Okay, maybe one more HM slave (Fly)
    Started on Rocket Hideout #2
    Taught Laplace Whirlpool
Now to show Team Rocket what's what.
    Sammy's a Seaking now
Now to get to the other transmitter tower.
    Caught Suicune
    Save Point

Gotta do Ice Path, Blackthorne, and Dragon's Den next time at the very least.

Well, I'm actually still struggling against the Elite Four - Or, well, I haven't played for a couple of days by now, since I've been so damn busy arranging a concert with my band, getting instruments from A to B and arranging a camping trip with a few of my friends. But I have some time tomorrow, where I'm hoping to finally beat the elite four, and finish this challenge.

  • Also... I'm going to assume that trading over to other games to teach moves is okay since I don't see anything about that in the rules... though I will remove any TMs or move tutor moves if that is in fact not allowed
Actually, it is mentioned in the rules. The part about only trading for evolution purposes. :\

So I started this challenge earlier this year but stopped midway because I couldn't find the time to play it. Now that I have time, can I get back in? I lost the file I was playing before so I thought I'd just start over but switch to the flying type, if that's ok
Yep, that's fine. Welcome back! ^_^

I spent a whole day training and finally decided to take on the Elite 4. It was so easy. I went through it with almost 1 hit on every single Pokemon. Aaron was pretty much destroyed. Bertha was quite a challenge with her ground type Pokemon. I had to use about 3 full restores. Flint was owned easily. Lucian was also a bit of a challenge but most of her Pokemon had low defense so Momo's Flamethrower took them out quite quickly. Cynthia was probably the 2nd easiest out of all of them.

    Final Team:

    Momo, Infernape, Lv.92
    >Flamethrower
    >Brick Break
    >Thunder Punch
    >Earthquake

I have beaten the Ultimate Monotype Challenge using the Type: Fire. Yay!
And now we have a fourth person who has completed the challenge. Congrats, Raoto! :D

Ok I'll do water types from Yellow I decided... Crap how am I going to beat Brock?

    Maybe Blue then...

Water Types in Yellow... You do know that you can use your starter to train a certain worthless fish, right?

And Mankey makes a good Strength Slave.

But you cannot catch any Water-Types in Yellow version prior to Brock. The first available is the Magikarp just before Mt. Moon.

But someone else has brought this up, and I said he could use a Mankey against Brock instead, replacing it with the Magikarp once he gets to it. ^^

Or you could just start with Blue and go with Squirtle. Tis easier, in my opinion. xD

Yes, Charizard is fine for a Flying-Type team, just as Butterfree is. =D
