    • The Ultimate Lyric Challenge​

    The Challenge:​
    The Lyric Challenge incorporates your favorite music into your Pokemon adventure! You and your team of 6 Pokemon will face enormous challenges as you spread the joy of your favorite song all across the Pokeuniverse!
    In other words, in this challenge you will pick a song and then build a team of 6 using the genre, band, and lyrics of the song.​

    The Rules:​
    1. Cheating/Hacking in certain Pokemon is allowed (only if they can not be obtained in the game normally prior to completing the challenge and if trading is unavailable)
    2. Trading is allowed to get your team members
    3. You must have a full team of six upon completion of the challenge, excluding HM slaves.
    4. HM Slaves are allowed
    5. Emulators are allowed
    6. No Legendary Pokemon are allowed
    7. Challenge ends upon defeating Blue(R/B/Y/FR/LG), Red(G/S/C/HG/SS), Steven(R/S), Wallace(E), Cynthia(D/P/Pt), Alder(B/W), or Iris (B2/W2).
    8. If you feel like the entire world should hear your song, then you may participate in the Ultimate Lyric Challenge where you go through all five gens.​

    Before anything, I think it would be better if we shared the songs, so here it is.



    Username: Twiddle

    Game: Pokémon Diamond

    Song: Blinding / Florence & The Machine / (her genre is Indie Rock/Indie Pop, so I'll list it as Pop)

    Team:
    1. Togekiss
    2. Ninetales
    3. Gardevoir

    Reasons:

    1. I picked Togekiss since it was not only a Flying Pokémon, but also a symbol of peace, which defines Florence & The Machine in pretty much everything.

    2. I seriously wanted Cresselia to be the representation of Florence, but as legendary pokémon aren't allowed, Ninetales is my pick for the representation of the Lead Singer, since Florence Welch has that strong part of her music while still being quite ominous. And she reminds me of orange things.

    3. "Felt it in my fist, in my feet, in the hollows of my eyelids
    Shaking through my skull, through my spine and down through my ribs"
    I picked Gardevoir, since Ralts is the Feeling Pokémon. As those two verses talk about physical feelings that turn into emotional ones, I think it fits.

    4. "And I could hear the thunder and see the lightning crack
    All around the world was waking, I never could go back"
    An electric pokémon would match these verses, and as such, I picked Manectric.

    5. "No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone"
    Spiritomb is the Sealed Pokémon, which means it undoes death. Plus, he's a Ghost/Dark pokémon, so he's the fifth member of the team.

    6. " No more dreaming like a girl, so in love, so in love
    No more dreaming like a girl, so in love, so in love
    No more dreaming like a girl, so in love with the wrong world"
    I had to pick an only-female pokémon that would represent love and another dimension. As such, I picked Froslass.


    I'll have to hack to get every single one of them, and because of that I'll catch them right at the beginning.


    Also, I suggest you add Alternative Rock, Indie and Soul as genres.

    • Ty; I would suggest putting Soul in either Grass or Psychic, and Indie in Flying or Normal. Alternative Rock should be in Rock, too.


    Started the challenge last night and picked the female character; named her Flo because of my song, and the rival is called Isabela (since Florence Robot/Isabella Machine). Already caught the 6 pokémon, at level 10, and just reached Jubilife City.

    • Well, it's about time for my first update.

    -Started new game on W2
    -Realized that I cannot hack in Pokemon so I have to beat Cheren and trade my team over before the challenge can truly begin
    -Picked the girl character and named myself Jim b/c lolz
    -Named my rival Vegeta
    -Picked Snivy named him Trade
    -Beat rival
    -Caught a Purrloin on first route, named Trade2
    -Started Alder's "training"
    -Beat Vegeta again...
    -Saved in Floccasy Ranch

    Scyther is one of the Pokemon that is available in the Celadon Game Corner in Pokemon Red, fitting the 'neon god'.

    To quote his Silver Pokedex Entry "Its brain cells multiply until it dies. As a result, it remembers everything." Since it's brain cells grow uncontrollably, it's cancer.

    Once again quoting a Silver Pokedex Entry "Its magnificent bark conveys a sense of majesty. Anyone hearing it can't help but grovel before it". This shows that Arcanine is a Pokemon that is worshiped, even if it is not truly legendary, kind of like how the song is telling a story of people worshiping idols and materialistic things.

    I see what you did there. Well, I'd be willing to try out an ultimate challenge. Are we allowed to use different songs for each region? I've got more than one favourite for sure, and I think if I tried to apply a team from each generation to the same song I'd probably get sick of it real fast.

    FireRed Reasons:

    The Genre: Weezing. Fits the type requirement for Punk by being a Poison type, and fits even better since she's the favoured pokemon of Gym Leader and punk rocker Roxie.

    The Band: Gyrados. The band's name is called Reel Big Fish. Gyrados is probably the biggest gosh darn fish in all of Gen 1.

    The Lyrics:

    I hate to ruin the magic
    I hate to kill the dream
    But once you've been behind the scenes then you'll know just what I mean

    The Hypno line's entire gimmick was the Dream Eater move in its debut. Its horrific implications, creepiness and prominence in Creepypasta has definitely "ruined the magic" of pokemon for me sometimes too.

    And there's no applause and no flying bras
    No girls will scream for you and no ones gonna sing along with you

    Jigglypuff's running gag in the anime always made me feel bad for it. All it wants to do is sing its heart out but it just winds up knocking everyone out, oblviously thinking that they're all sleeping out of spite. Seems fitting for the line.

    Rock and roll will bring you down
    And it will kick you while your on the ground

    Primeape is known to hunt down the subect of its rage, not stopping until it passes out or its nemesis gets pummelled into nothingness. Kicking an opponent while they're down sounds like par for course for Primeape. In fact, it sounds like being generously merciful for Primeape.

    When Pokemon gamers first traded Spearow for Farfetch'd, they figured they were getting a great deal. A rare pokemon, only obtainable through trade like Mr. Mime and Jynx, surely it was powerful! And then they found out that it... well, wasn't. Farfetch'd is, sadly, disappointment incarnate. Its Japanese name even represents a saying that loosely means "there's a sucker in every crowd". Seems to fit the chorus perfectly if you ask me.

    • Added you all to the challengers list! Wow this challenge is growing fast! Oh, I also added Folk to the list under ground as I think you are probably right in saying that ground fits folk best BlueShellBeast. Sorry about my challenge going pretty slowly btw... I just got my wisdom teeth removed Friday and have been doing basically nothing but sleeping and rinsing out my mouth. Plus when you're on this many pain meds it's is pretty difficult to play Pokemon...

    Sorry for the lack of progress. I'm in the middle of testing week, and I've managed to get sick. At any rate, I decided to update here before Disobedience becomes an overly huge problem... I rushed to defeat Brock before level 10, and then leveled up past that once his Onix was defeated.

    Ampharos- because "it's a force field" i'm going to teach it reflect and light screen, also i think this would be the closest pokemon i think for calvin harris
