How should I counter this team?

  • Me and my best friend are major Pokemon rivals, and lately, he has been countering everything I throw at him with a full team of sweepers, while I try to set up some stuff.

    His team:

    Starmie Lead @ Life Orb

Magmortar (Not sure on the specifics of this guy)

Machamp @ Lum BerryW/ Bullet Punch and Dynamic Punch with No Guard

    Porygon Z @ Choice Specs

    Weavile @ Focus Sash

    Honchkrow @ Life Orb

I'm not sure on there stat spreads, but most of you should get the general idea on what they're for. It's really the Machamp that gives me my problems. Another thing, WE HAVE A SEVERE CLAUSE ABOUT SWITCHING AND LEGENDARIES. Neither is allowed to switch without the aid of a switching move such as Baton Pass or U-Turn.

I've thought about trying this team out:

Lead Ninjask @ Focus Sash- 252 ATK. 252 SPE- Speed Boost - Adamant
    - Swords Dance
    - Protect
    - X-Scissor
    - Baton Pass

Phys Wall Slowbro @ Leftovers- 252 HP, 252 DEF- Own Tempo (Counter the Dynamic Punch effects)- Bold
    - Psychic
    - Surf
    - Toxic
    - Slack Off

Phys Sweeper Mamoswine @ Choice Band- 252 ATK, 252 HP- Jolly
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Shard
    - Stone Edge
    - Superpower

Phys Sweeper Rampardos @ Choice Scarf- 252 ATK, 252 SPE- Adamant
    - Earthquake
    - Fire Punch
    - Zen Headbutt
    - Stone Edge

Spec Sweeper Alakazam @ Focus Sash- 252 SP ATK, 252 SPE- Timid
    - Psychices
    - Grass Knot
    - Focus Blast
    - Signal Beam

Spec Sweeper Mismagius @ Leftovers- 252 SP ATK, 252 SPE- Timid
    - Nasty Plot
    - Magical Leaf
    - Thunderbolt
    - Shadow Ball

The last spot is open for suggestions. What ever you find suitable, I will take into consideration. My main strategy seems to be based around letting Ninjask set up the Swords Dance/ Speed Boosts, Baton Passing in one of my slower Sweepers, and letting them go until gone. Like I said before, my main obstruction is the Machamp, so Physically Defensive Slowbro and Spec Alakazam with Focus Sash are my best choices at countering him. Thoughts my Pokebros?

  • A team to counter your friends? XD
I'd just go with the flow, dude~
Have your own team, try until it works! c:
    Buuuuut, I'll offer some suggestions.

    Choice Banded Scizor, is one.
    252 Att/ 248 hp / 8 spd Adamant nature
    Technician
    -Bullet Punch
    -U-Turn
    -Pursuit
    Super Power

(Sword dance is an option, replace Pursuit and give him a Life Orb)

Maybe put in Rampardos place, never liked him that much~

    Togekiss w/ Nasty Plot
252 Spl Att/ 252 Speed Timid nature (Or you may go for a more bulkier set up, Calm nature 252 HP/ 158 Def/ 100 Spl Def)
    Leftovers
    Serene Grace
    -Nasty plot
    -Air Slash
    -Tri Attack/ Flamethrower
    -Roost/ Thunder Wave

Replace Alakazam or Mismagius, more than likely Mismagius~

I agree with Erufuun. You can replace Rampardos and Mismagius with those two, but here's a Togekiss set you can use if you don't want to breed/transfer:
    -Thunder Wave
    -Air Slash
    -Roost
    -Aura Sphere
    Nature: Calm/Bold
EVs: 252 HP/188 SDef or Def/68 SDef or Def
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Serene Grace

  • Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I built a team on Pokemon Lab while waiting for replies that turned out to work well in my favor. Just gonna have to train them irl.

Relaxed Swampert @ Leftovers, 252 Def, 252 HP
    - Stealth Rock
    - Ice Beam
    - Roar
    - Earthquake

Relaxed Forretress @ Leftovers- 252 Def, 252 HP
    - Spikes
    - Toxic Spikes
    - Gyro Ball
    - Explosion

Relaxed Dusknoir @ Leftovers- 252 Def, 252 HP
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Thunder Punch
    - Pain Split
    - Earthquake

Adamant Scizor @ Life Orb- 252 Atk, 252 Spe
    - U-Turn
    - Bullet Punch
    - Superpower
    - Night Slash

Modest Jolteon @ Choice Specs- 252 Sp Atk, 252 Spe
    - Thunderbolt
    - Charge Beam
    - Signal Beam
    - Shadow Ball

Jolly Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf- 252 Atk, 252 Spe
    - Earthquake
    - Stone Edge
    - Crunch
    - Superpower

3 Sweepers and 3 Phy walls seem pretty good to me. Also, I guess this is an update if you guys wish to rate this now.

  • You could put Shedinja in when his Machamp takes one of yours down. He cant touch you unless Machamp knows a fire attack or other weaknesses.Make Shedinja hold focus sash(or whatever saves a faint from a supereffective hit) Or you could try using Sableye on Machamp. His fightng moves wont hit and Sableye has no weakness

"WE HAVE A SEVERE CLAUSE ABOUT SWITCHING AND LEGENDARIES. Neither is allowed to switch without the aid of a switching move such as Baton Pass or U-Turn."

That's a terrible rule. Trick Scarf will let you setup as much as you like. Starmie doesn't have BP/U-turn so yeah.

    Lead: Uxie@Scarf Trick/U-turn/2 filler
The rest of your team can consist of Pokemon that can set up on whatever Starmie is locked into (Water Absorbers for Surf/Hydro Pump, Volt Absorbers for Tbolt, Dark-types for Psychic, light Pokemon for Grass Knot).

Espeon can be useful too since it has high Sp Def, and learns Baton Pass.
