Mark smiled at Sammy. He still felt really bad about Cubone. No doubt the little Pokemon probobly hated his guts right now... he wanted to make the fight somewhat even but most of his Pokemon were exceptionally trained... he could hopefully work it out.

"I don't mind. I want to make our battle fair. We aren't going to learn anything if it becomes one sides for us. We're all here to learn after all, not to compete. Send out whoever you like. Something that I'd have to move around for, like a Pokemon with a projectile attack or something like that." Mark suggested happily.

Mark had planned to bring out Commodore, but using Kara wouldn't be a bad idea either... she was a ground type. Infact, he should have brought her out to begin with. Whatever worked.

Valorie Ryder -Practical Battling
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zayne had asked Valorie a question, namely about her ability to control this snivy in battle. Valorie just sort of looked at Thyme with an expression that didn't exactly radiate confidence. Even she knew better than to pretend she could do what she knew she couldn't. "...I don't... know." she replied in a somewhat meek manner after a couple of moments. Normally, she would've tested this theory, however she was still slightly afraid that Thyme would smack her across the face or something painful like that if she started ordering her around. She slouched a bit as if to view Thyme from the pokemon's own eye-height. "...I think she wants something from me, but I'm not sure what." she remarked, slightly frustrated. Apparently she had decided that Thyme was indeed a girl. How she'd done that was anyone's guess. She almost seemed... hesitant to head out for the second part of class with the others.

Sammy Cooper

"Alright then," Sammy said agreeably, retreating back to her original position. Dropping to her haunches she set Cubone down and smiled down at the little guy. "Okay buddy, I guess you're not quite ready to take on such a scary pokemon, huh?"
"...Cu..."
"And that's not a problem, I should've paid more attention to where you were at. So how about you get a workout with me instead? I'm going to be dancing around the outside of the battle trying to avoid all the trouble. Wanna join in?"
"Cubone?"
"Here, I'll show you."

Raising her fists and going back to the balls of her toes Sammy began dancing from foot to foot, ducking and weaving from side to side - shadowboxing without throwing a punch. After a few repetitions Cubone experimentally began trying to emulate her, shuffling his feet and shifting from left to right.

"That's good Cubone! Keep at it and we'll get there! Alright then Mark, let's see if this is a little more even." Sammy grinned mischeviously and unclipped the Luxury Ball from her belt, tossing it towards the battle space between them and releasing Shuppet.

The dark blue pokemon hung in the air, staring eerily at Mark without making a sound. Really, really she should have sent out Corphish. He was her strongest pokemon and she was familair with him, while this would be her first ever battle with Shuppet. Her Pokemon selection, although geared towards the ones she needed to work with most, certainly needed improvement.

Mark observed both Sammy and Cubone as they both practiced moving around in battle. The two seemed to be dancing and practicing moving around the battlefield. It was kind of cute watching the two of them do this. She sent out a Shuppet into battle next. Mark decided to keep Len in battle though. He was sure this would be a bit more even out since he was facing a ghost type. Mark wouldn't be able to use his most powerful fighting type moves.

"Alright lets get started then! Len! Bubblebeam!" Mark called out. Len nodded and aimed a bubblebeam attack straight toward Shuppet.

Zayne Alta

Zayne noted that Valorie was uncertain of the Snivy, he figured it was only fair for her to be confused since she was being asked to battle with a random pokemon - vastly different from a rental trained to battle with different trainers.
"Well, I guess we'll find out. If it doesn't want to obey you I'll let you use another pokemon. I saw her showing you her moves earlier, so she seems to be reasonably cooperative.

With that being said Zayne looked at the class, most of whom were slowly getting to their feet and returning the borrowed books
"okay, lets head down to the training fields guys".
Zayne, with his class, more or less, in tow headed through the halls of the Academy - past other classes, some empty some full. Classes that Zayne noticed included what seemed to be a class on breeding or grooming and his friend, Steven Yew's classroom.
Things here run strangely smoothly... even the hiccups in my lesson seemed to run their courses perfectly.

Upon reaching one of the standard practice fields, not too far away from the crater that was once the artificial ice field. Zayne decided it was time to explain the classes task;
"Okay, I want you all to take a position around the edges of the battlefield. This battle is going to be somewhat of a free for all. Opponents will be coming at you from all directions so you need to be quick on your feet, analysing your peers pokemon quickly and using your knowledge of your own to effectively counter - it will be a must for you to play to your own pokemon's strengths or they will be knocked out and you will be relegated to watching."

Some of the faces were staring at Zayne in shock
This should be interesting
"Start at will."

Hilda - Vigilantism and Community Service
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not too long later...

Hilda waited outside the academy, a rather burly looking darmanitan flashing a shark-tooth cheshire grin at awaiting students. It was a wonder those huge, cruel teeth didn't intimidate new trainers from a mile away. She was checking the time as the moment for departure drew ever more near. In fact, it was just about time...

Looking up, she adjusted the brim of her hat to better shield her eyes from the sun. "Alright! Students, let's start moving out. Stick together and move at a /medium/ pace. Don't split up and don't get left behind. Call out if you need help. Alright? We should get there pretty fast if we can make this work." she stated. Earlier, she had recommended that anyone without pokemon to ride find a partner or ask her if necessary, as she had strong pokemon of her own to provide transportation... but not quite enough for the entire class. Without further ado, she ushered several students-in-need onto the back of her darmanitan and released an emboar to help out in this regard.

"Let's make some good time, alright?~" she said in an encouraging tone.

Sammy Cooper

Sammy danced to her right to avoid stray bubbles from Bubblebeam, Cubone doing his best to copy her movements and move with her. Bubblebeam was a particularly tricky one to avoid as once the initial force of the attack exhausted itself, the stinging bubbles could be carried anywhere by the wind. The stream of bubbles hit Shuppet head on, popping violently, but the Puppet Pokemon just floated there, staring directly at Len. It would be tricky for opponents to tell how close Shuppet was to fainting, apparently.

Now, what move to use? Sammy wasn't very familiar with Shuppet yet, seeing as she had caught him only the night previous. His moves were Confuse Ray, Knock Off, Screech and Nightshade. Given the point of the exercise, Confuse Ray seemed like a decent choice. If neither of them knew exactly what Len would do, or what direction he would attack in, they would really have to stay on their toes.

"Shuppet, Confuse Ray!" Sammy called out as she danced from foot to foot.
"Cubone!" Echoed Cubone.

Shuppet's eyes began to glow a sinister kaleidoscope of reds and purples, staring straight towards Len's eyes. So long as the Poliwrath looked into Shuppet's eyes once he would become confused.

Alexander Vance

Xander was reluctantly hoisted onto an Emboar's shoulders for the trip. Not the most dignified way to travel, perhaps, but it was better than trailing behind the group on foot. Any of his pokemon, once fully evolved, would be able to carry him with ease. Unfortunately none of them were quite large enough yet, so for now he would have to suffer through this.

"What made you decide to teach this particular class, Miss?" He asked Hilda. "I was under the impression that law enforcement don't always appreciate vigilantism."

Daniel knew this had been a horrible idea. Draca wouldn't battle. But he trusted in Draca's Extreme Speed, to run around. Yes. He would let the others faint and then catch the winner when he would be weak. Strategy. "Draca... Do your best", said Daniel, letting Draca slide of his shoulder. "Tini?! Dra ti ni!"(Battling? What in Arceus name- Daniel! I won't battle. Count in losing), said Draca.

Calvin Bastion

Kyle right after running into Calvin began talking. Most of it blew by his head other than something about a place called Dead Forest and disappearances. Right away Calvin got interested having nothing else to do this could be a good thing to pass time. Calvin just had one problem, he had no clue where this place was. He knew it was obviously somewhere in the forest but where in the forest was what he didn't know. With that being the only thing in Calvin's mind he took off towards the forest hoping that he could maybe bump into Kyle on his way there.
Calvin walked through the grassy plains only to see the Pokemon running around looking completely happy but there was this one Pokemon, a Tauros. It looked extremely mad and fatigue at the same time. Calvin wondered what was wrong with the Pokemon as it just seemed mad. Then Calvin saw it, a spark of electricity go around the Tauros indicating it was paralyzed. Calvin wondered if Kyle did this or somebody else. He didn't think any of his Pokemon knew electric moves so how could it be paralyzed by Kyle. Without any more time to think the Tauros began charging Calvin. Calvin's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. The Tarous ran at full speed towards Calvin.
Calvin stood still as a statue while the Taruos closed in on Calvin. The Tarous closed in as soon as it got within five feet of Calvin it was stopped by paralysis. Calvin laughed at the Tarous as if he knew that would happen only to walk away while the Tarous was still standing in the exact same spot cringing in pain.

Len ended up staring right into Shuppet's eyes, suddenly feeling his head getting messed with. He quickly became confused from the Shuppets last attack. That would be bad since he was a very strong physical attacker... Mark of course knew of his disadvantage from the beginning anyways but still... this could get nasty.

"Alright then... Len! Use Dig!" Mark called out. Len looked around with a dizzy expression on his eyes. As he attempted to dig into the ground put ended up hitting himself, shooting a couple of bubbles around randomly in the process. Mark moved around as best as he could to keep out of the way of the bubbles but Len was very unpredictable now.

"Alright, great work Shuppet!"
"Cubone!"

Sammy continued to move around the battlefield, avoiding the stray bubbles from Len's confusion, Cubone dancing by her side. He seemed to be becoming more adept at the footwork as time went on, and was regaining some measure of cheer and excitement in the battle. The success of the Confuse Ray had been vital if they were to have any chance of beating Mark, it was clear that Len was a very well trained and powerful pokemon. Normally at this point in the battle she would probably take advantage of Len's confused state to have Shuppet use Screech and then Knock Off... but this exercise was really more focused towards ranged attacks.

"Shuppet, use Nightshade next!"

The shifting colours of Shuppet's eyes settled on a sinister red before twin beams shot from them, jagged zig-zagging lasers that were red outlined in a dark purple. If they could whittle Len down bit by bit then they might just have a chance.

Thyme

Thyme rolled her eyes and leapt to Valorie's should and sat down. Now, how many shoulder riding snivies could there possibly be in Oak Academy? How many snivies did Valorie know? Come on girl, the answer is right in front of you! Thyme shook her head and patted Valorie's cheek. Humans... Definitely not the brightest creatures. And yet they were the ones in power. Go figure. She looked at Valorie. Yes, she respected Valorie enough to listen to her... Possibly. If Thyme saw a better move she would of course ignore Valorie's orders. Assuming the girl even had the nerve to try and use her in battle.

"Let's go. Or you will be late." she said in an authoritative tone. Gosh, how very much that reminded her of her own trainer. Why Thyme didn't just take Val's pen and write the message was beyond her. Maybe it was because she was testing to see how well Valorie could communicate with a pokemon not her own? Would could fathom that little snake's mind.

Len was doing more damage to himself then he was to the Shuppet... Mark had to snap him out of this behavior. It was too bad Mark didn't hand Len a Lum berry beforehand to cure this instantly. But Mark wanted to plan out a different strategy and not have to rely on it. He could only have so much Lum berries and he wasn't that good with gardening... he had to gather some more anyways and at least get some kind of berry pot so he could grow a bit more. He made a mental note to do that asap. Len was still standing strong though, even after getting hit by Night Shade. Mark didn't want to risk using Belly Drum while he was confused. Sure he would max his attacking force but one false move and Len would end up knocking himself out... He could still at least play his strategy out as planned..

"Alright... Len! use Rest!" Mark said. Len managed to do the simple command thankfully and the fighting Pokemon stood straight up as his eyes closed and sent him into a state of relaxation. His health was fully recovered from the move but he was still confused.

Kilik Chambers - Practical Battling -> Standard Practice Field

502.png

633.png

Did the teacher bother to grade their reports? A few others presented their assignment, though it seemed Mr. Alta was explaining the next topic. That didn't make sense, but anything to further Kilik's training is good for him.

Their next assignment was not in class. Everyone was piling out of the classroom, as was Kilik. He hopes at this time that the class was worth the training. If only he had time to look up his other Pokemon, like Yaiba. It was follow the leader, Mr. Alta was leading the class outside the academy & into another building. Kilik looks around the place, indicating that this was a battlefield. Mr. Alta explains what everyone has to do, & directs them to stand on any edge of the battlefield. Kilik could already see where this was going. For this task, everyone must battle in a Free-For-All match, & the last Pokemon standing is the victor. Mr. Alta wants to see who can analyze the battle & the trainer's Pokemon as well. So, it's every Pokemon for itself, huh? A smirk creeped in the corner of Kilik's lips, eager to get started.

"Tentou," Kilik gets his Shinx's attention, "I'm counting on you. Don't get cocky." Tentou took this indication that he was gonna battle. He doesn't have much experience in battle, but now was the time to test his skills. Tentou took his position on the battlefield & growled. "Start with Charge first!" Tentou began projecting electricity around its fur, readying its next attack & raising its Special Defense. Now, who's first?

Shawn Williams - Raikou Dorm - Beach

Shawn watched as Mouser came full bore at Pyra with a Tackle attack. He simply walked a few steps to his left as the little rattata passed right through her without damage. However, now Pyra was facing him instead of Kiki, which was the whole point of the exercise. Shawn looked directly at Pyra, "Maneuver around and put Mouser between you and the opposing trainer." Pyra looked a little upset at first, but nodded and appeared behind the opponent, facing Kiki and Mouser both. "That's it," he encouraged his Litwick, "Now use Will-o-Wisp."

Pyra closed her eyes and concentrated, the flame on top of her head growing as she increased her fire strength. A few small reddish-white orbs of super-concentrated heat formed around her body. Soon, she opened her eyes and the volley of orbs flew out towards Mouser. The spread of the attack, however, would cause a couple of orbs to be sent Kiki's way. He hoped they wouldn't hit Kiki and hurt her.

Issac Milke - Eggs and Breeding 101

"So are there any questions so far?" Brock asked the class.
Issac looked around but could not see what he assumed to be blank stares aimed toward Brock, being he was in the back of the room. He then looked back down at the paper that had been recently put on his desk.

So many egg groups. This mineral group has me curious.. but I do not really want to ask questions.

Brock - Eggs and Breeding 101

Brock looked over the class as the students stared at him in a dull hypnosis.
No questions.. typical.

"Moving on then." He stated as he began to pace back in forth at the front of the room. "Breeding is typically taken care of by breeders who own day cares. You leave two compatible pokemon together and an egg will mysteriously appear." He finished with a grin. "

"Now even though Pokemon may be in the same egg group, it does not always mean they will breed. They have a much better chance of breeding if they get along and like to play with each other. If they prefer playing with other pokemon in the day care, they may not breed with each other." Brock added to his previous statement. "Now before starting the next part, I will be right back."

Brock turned from the class and went into a closet that was behind his desk. He returned with a hand behind his back. "This," he started as he pulled his hand in front of him revealing a large egg with red spots covering it, "is a pokemon egg. They take a lot of time to hatch, but seem to hatch more quickly if carried around with a trainer than if incubated. Each of you will receive an egg at the end of class that you are to take care of as your semester project. It is up to you whether or not you want to keep it afterwards."

Nightshade had been a direct hit, but was never going to do incredible amounts of damage given the disparity in strength between Shuppet and Len. And there he went using Rest! This wasn't what she needed, if he was able to recover his strength it was just a matter of time until he was able to get in another solid attack against Shuppet. There was really nothing else for it than to keep wearing him down, using Confuse Ray again if Len were to snap out of it and hoping he did as much harm to himself as Shuppet was able to do.

"Shuppet, another Nightshade! Keep them coming!"

Shuppet fired another Nightshade from its eyes, and would continue to do so until Len woke up.

Len was still fast asleep as Shuppet landed another hit on him. However this was all part of the place. Mark moved around a bit too so he wouldn't get hit by any stray shots. Len was still confused but it seemed that it would be wearing off at this point. Mark gave a smirk. Time to put his new strategy in action. He would have used Belly Drum earlier but at the state of confusion, it was kind of tough. Either way, this strategy would be useful to keep Len alive for a long time and if he played his card right, perhaps he could pull off the Belly Drum tactic, as risky as it was.

"Len! Sleep Talk!" Mark said. Len stood straight up however he was still asleep. Despite his position, he was able to attack as he pleased. He was moving around as if he were wide awake. Len suddenly fired another BubbleBeam in his sleep.

Lucia Francisco Bernavard - History/Mythology

Lucia cocked her head at his reasoning. "That... actually makes sense Brian. The pokemon around here don't know who is a rocket and who isn't, which is why they are attacking everyone! They don't want to risk a rocket finding whatever it is, so better to make sure no humans find it and thus keep whatever they are trying to protect a hidden secret. Though... have you heard anything from the pokemon? I mean, there must be rumors around or pokemon who are saying stuff when they attack. We can head out and maybe find one and state that we aren't rockets right?"

She frowned, "Though I'm not sure how that will go down. They could always assume we are lying and just attack us or not even bother to listen to us and attack us anyways. It's quite a quandary."

The Scizor glanced over and finally spoke up, "Boy... if you can hear me know this, I will not allow Lucia to go on this journey. If there is any chance she could be harmed she will NOT be going."

Shuppet was hit by another Bubblebeam, failing to react to it yet again. The Puppet Pokemon didn't even seem to blink... it was very disconcerting. Sammy dodged out of the way of more stray bubbles and started to grow concerned over what to do. If Len could attack while he rested there was no downtime to Mark's strategy. Len could attack and recover at the same time. And she had to admit, she didn't know if confusion could be a problem while a pokemon was asleep... there was only one thing for it. Sleeping pokemon could be notoriously difficult to wake, sleeping through loud noises and even physical attacks, but she had to try.

"Shuppet, try and wake him up with Screech!"

Shuppet responded by opening his mouth wide and... nothing. No sound came out - except that Cubone flinched. It seemed like only pokemon could hear this silent Screech. What was up with Shuppet?
