  • So I am playing White 2 on my 3DS and as I was going through sewers in Castelia City I was headed for the Doctor and activated a repel so as to reach him without having to pummel through a dozen Rattatas and Zubats. Well, shortly after activating it, a battle started! It was a Rattata. I beat him and then went into my inventory to see if my Repel was still activated. It was. It kept happening, too. Three repels later and I had fought 6 battles spanned across all three.

WTF? Anyone else having an issue with Repel not working like it should?

ETA: Everything's fine. I'm just dense.

What's the level of your battling Pokemon? I think, if your Pokemon at the top of your list has a level equal to or lower than that of the wild Pokemon in the area, then Repel's effects are decreased.

Most of the levels are equal. Guess I need to put my starter as my battle Pokémon when I don't want to be messed with. Still, that's new, isn't it? How utterly bizarre.

If the level of your first Pokemon isn't higher than the wild Pokemon, then you still battle. Repel only blocks pokemon that are lower than your first Pokemon. If a Fainted Pokemon is in Slot one, it still counts.

Thanks. I should have known this, I've been playing the games for a few years now. I normally go into every area over-leveled (my husband made fun of me for it regularly), so I never even realized it only stopped attacks from lower-level Pokémon.

I feel so freaking stupid right now. :embarrass

  • Repels affects depend on the level of your pokemon and the level of the repel, if its the worst repel, and your pokemon are low level. You will still have a decent chance of running into a pokemon.

Defenitly not a glitch. Because i used repels in the same place and i didnt run into 1 pokemon.

Huh? There are no levels of repels. All repels work the same some just last longer.
