  • Just make Reshiram a male and Zekrom a female and I'm happy.

    Gwah?
    wth.png
*shudders at the thought of Zekrom in a lady's dress*

Same here. The game designers said Reshiram's female and Zekrom's male, but the genders associated with yin and yang are the opposite way around.

Well, they technically said that the designs of Reshiram and Zekrom were ladylike and manlike, not actually the physological genders/"sexes" of the two.... But yeah, you're correct about the yin-yang gender associations being flipped between them.

Anyway, this thread has like one of the easiest questions I've encountered in a while (I think...) XD:

    Genderless (Non-Legendary):
*genders apply to the pre-evolutions/families of listed Pokemon as well
    Magnezone - Male
    Electrode - Male
    Starmie - Female
    Porygon-Z - Male
    Ditto - Male
    Shedinja - Male
    Lunatone - Male
Solrock - More Female than Male
    Claydol - Male
    Metagross - Male
    Bronzong - Male
    Rotom - Male
    Manaphy - Umm...50% male, 50% female >_>
    Klinklang - Male
    Cryogonal - Male
    Golurk - Male

    Genderless (Legendary):
    Articuno - Female
    Moltres - Female
    Zapdos - tomboyish Female
    Mewtwo - Male
Mew - ugh...slightly embryonic female, but the design fits the "genderless" classification perfectly
    Unown - Male
    Raikou - Male
    Entei - Male
    Suicune - Male
Lugia - Male, slightly feminine traits
Ho-oh - yikes...the design fits the "genderless" classification perfectly. A mix of masculine and feminine traits; I CAN'T DECIDE!! T_T
Celebi - playful Female (think brunette lady with glasses >_>)
    Regirock - Male
    Registeel - Male
    Regice - Male
    Kyogre - Male
    Groudon - Male
    Rayquaza - Male
    Deoxys - Male
    Jirachi - boyish Male
    Uxle - Male
    Mesprit - Female
    Azelf - Male
    Dialga - Male
    Palkia - Male
    Giratina - Male
    Regigigas - Male
    Heatran - Male
    Darkrai - Male
    Shaymin - boyish Male
    Arceus - ALPHA Male
    Victini - boyish Male
    Cobalion - Male
    Virizion - Female
    Terrakion - Male
    Reshiram - Male
Zekrom - definite Male. There is no other answer.
    Kyuremu - Male
    Keldeo - boyish Male
Meloetta - definite Female, my GOSH why isn't this set in stone.
    Genosect - Male

So yeah...most legendaries appear male to me, but females are sprinkled here and there. The majority of gendered Pokemon are the same way. And I hate how there are Pokemon who have variable genders yet obviously look single-gendered: Mr. Mime line (male), Machamp line (male), Conkeldurr line (male), Gardevoir (female), Lucario (male), Gothitelle (female), Chillaccino (female), Zoroark (male).

Personally, I don't think Reshiram looks female. I think it looks more like a male with long hair, who is also very refined. Sort of like an elf, lol.

  • I can imagine many of the legendaries are gendered Pokemon in 'real life' so to speak. Mew and Mewtwo are probably female and male, respectively, considering the life-giving mythology that arises from that. I envisage the legendary trios to be 2/3rd male, for the most part - with the Regis all male, for some reason - but most of the Event Pokemon to be female.

With regards to non-legendaries, apart from the Metagross evolutionary line which seems to be majority male, there doesn't seem to be anything broadly masculine or feminine about them, so 50:50 it is!

  • Contrary to popular belief, I always saw Reshiram as a male. I don't know why, it just looks manly. :\

I guess most of the genderless ones would be male, with Mew, Mesprit, and a few others a female. Although... I still see the Magnemite line as completely genderless. It just wouldn't make sense for them to have genders in my opinion. It would probably make my brain explode if they did. :\ Seriously, can you imagine that? A female Magnemite?

  • Uh, Reshiram is always a female to me. I don't care about the crotch fluff. It doesn't even look like... that kind of fluff, to me.
But maybe you can blame 4chan for this.
Aaand Zekrom is male to me.
