Lorelei overview:
Team entering the fight: Marley LV59 - Fire Blast, Surf, Dig, Superpower
Coleman LV59 - Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Dig, Megahorn
Gulch LV59 - Earthquake, Rock Blast, Brick Break, Double-Edge
Hide LV59 - Slash, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Magnitude
Mickey LV59 - Earthquake, Rock Tomb, Slash, Sand-Attack
Punchy LV35 - Strength, Magnitude, Rock Throw, Selfdestruct
She starts off with Dewgong while I open with Marley. I use Superpower, which doesn't kill her, and she uses Ice Beam, which does more than half. Her: 10% or so HP, Me: 82/186 HP. I switch out for Coleman as she uses her Full Restore. I use Thunderbolt then she uses Surf, both doing enough for a 2HKO. Her: 40% or so HP, Me: 69/167 HP. I kill her next turn.
Next up is Closter, who dies to one Thunderbolt.
After that is Slowbro. I use Megahorn, which does more than half, but she kills me with Ice Beam. I bring in Mickey and finish her with an Earthquake.
Following is Jynx, who I am faster than, and kill her with one Earthquake. Geez, i'm glad I got a Sandshrew with a +Speed nature, because for a Sandslash (65 base Speed), Mickey is pretty fast.
Finally is her ace, Lapras. I miss first hit with Rock Tomb, and she uses Ice Beam and I barely live. Me: 15/165 HP. I hit next turn though before she kills me with another Ice Beam. Her: 2/3 or so HP. I bring in Gulch and miss with Rock Blast, then she kills me with Surf. Then I use Marley, who narrowly fails to kill her with Superpower, and she kills me with Ice Beam. Her: 1% HP. I bring in Hide, and she uses her Full Restore, while Rock Slide does less than half. Her: 62% or so HP. I use it again, and she uses Ice Beam, but I live. Her: 25% or so HP, Me: 35/128 HP. I kill her next turn with Earthquake and end the battle.
That was looking to be a pretty good battle up until that stupid Lapras came out. Thankfully, Hide survived that Ice Beam, otherwise this would have sucked even more.
Bruno overview:
Team entering the fight: Same as last time. All Pokémon, moves and items remain unchanged.
He starts off with his first Onix while I open with Marley. One Surf kills him.
Next up is his second Onix, who also dies to one Surf. Uh, are you even trying?!
After that is his Hitmonlee. I use Dig and avoid a Mega Kick, then hit for enough for a 2HKO, but his Mega Kick hits, though I get Poison Point, yay. :D Him: 1/3 or so HP and poisoned, Me: 137/186 HP. I kill him with Surf.
Following that is his ace, his Machamp. I use Fire Blast, which does less than half, but he misses with Scary Face. Him: 2/3 or so HP. I use it again, and he hits with Scary Face this time, and his Sitrus Berry activates. Him: 45% or so HP, Me: 137/186 HP and -2 Speed. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I send in Mickey, as he uses Cross Chop, which misses. Nice! I use Earthquake, which does enough to finish him off.
Finally is his Hitmonchan. Earthquake does almost enough to kill him, but he uses Rock Tomb. Him: 1/6 or so HP, Me: 157/165 HP and -1 Speed. He uses another Full Restore, and I use Slash, which gets a critical hit and knocks him right back where he was. He uses ANOTHER Full Restore, and I get ANOTHER critical hit. Wow, this is funny. He uses Sky Uppercut, but it doesn't do much at all, and I kill him with Slash and end the battle.
Not much to this battle; I hardly took any damage during it (though he missed a few times and he was stupid) and basically got the job done well.
Agatha overview:
Team entering the fight: Same as last time, except i'm leading with Hide. All others remain unchanged.
She starts off with her first Gengar while I open with Hide. I use Rock Slide, which only does around 1/3, but she flinches. Her: 2/3 or so HP. I use Rock Slide again, and she flinches again, just wow. Her: 1/3 or so HP. I use Rock Slide and kill her…of course, getting the critical hit on the turn that doesn't matter.
Next up is Golbat. I use Rock Slide, which does enough for a 2HKO, but she uses Confuse Ray. Her: 40% or so HP. I use a Full Heal as she uses Air Cutter. Me: 89/128 HP. Another Rock Slide kills her, and AGAIN I get the critical hit on the last turn. Twice in a row in one battle, that's just sad.
After that is her Haunter. I use Rock Slide again, and get a critical hit which kills her in one hit. Yes, THAT'S what I like to see. See, Hide, why couldn't you have done that on her first two guys?
Following that is her stronger Gengar. I only have one Rock Slide left, and I use it…does around the same that it did to her first Gengar, and she uses Hypnosis. Her: 2/3 or so HP, Me: 89/128 HP and asleep. I switch out for Mickey, and she uses Shadow Ball, which barely does anything. Me: 137/165 HP. She hits with Hypnosis, then next turn I use the Poké Flute to wake Mickey up as she uses Shadow Ball again. Me: 106/165 HP. She hits with Hypnosis AGAIN, this isn't funny :\ I use the Poké Flute again and she tries to use Nightmare, but fails. She misses with Hypnosis, while I miss with Rock Tomb. Dang it! Sure enough, she hits with Hypnosis next turn. I use the Poké Flute as she fails with Nightmare. She uses Shadow Ball (THANK YOU) while I hit with Rock Tomb and lower her Speed, but the Sitrus Berry activates. Her: 62% or so HP and -1 Speed, Me: 78/165 HP. At least her Speed is lowered, that's a big help. I hit with Rock Tomb again and she hits with Hypnosis, but it should still be all good. Her: 1/3 or so HP and -2 Speed. I switch out for Gulch as she uses Shadow Ball, which doesn't do much at all. Me: 187/214 HP. We both miss with Rock Blast and Hypnosis, then next turn I hit with Rock Blast and kill her with two hits. Ugh, good riddance!
Finally is her Arbok. She gets off Intimidate, but she misses with Iron Tail and I kill her in one hit with Earthquake even after Intimidate.
Freaking Gengar… Keep hitting with Hypnosis and avoid my attacks, why don't you?
Lance overview:
Team entering the fight: Same as before, except i'm leading with Coleman. All others remain unchanged.
He starts off with Gyarados while I open with Coleman, and he gets off Intimidate. I use Thunderbolt, which kills him in one hit.
Next up is his Aerodactyl. I switch out for Mickey as he uses Wing Attack, but that doesn't do much at all. Me: 136/165 HP. He uses it again as I hit him with Rock Tomb. Him: 60% or so HP and -1 Speed, Me: 104/165 HP. He uses Scary Face while I go for Sand-Attack. Then he hits with Wing Attack while I use Sand-Attack again. Him: 60% or so HP, -1 Speed and -2 Accuracy, Me: 73/165 HP and -1 Speed. I switch out for Gulch as he uses Wing Attack for pathetic damage. Me: 199/214 HP. We both miss with AncientPower and Rock Blast. He hits for hardly anything, while I hit with Rock Blast and kill him with two hits. Me: 185/214 HP.
After that is one of his Dragonairs. He uses Safeguard, then I kill him in one hit with Earthquake.
Following that is his next Dragonair. He uses Outrage, but I live and kill him with Earthquake. Me: 110/214 HP.
Finally is his Dragonite. I use a Hyper Potion, then he hits with Outrage, but it does half on the dot. Me: 107/214 HP. Yeah, don't want to chance that. I use a Hyper Potion, and he does more than half. Me: 90/214 HP. I accidentally use a Hyper Potion on Mickey (meant to send in Punchy as death fodder) then he kills me. So I send in Mickey, and his Safeguard wears off - perfect timing, because he becomes confused due to fatigue. I use Rock Tomb and lower his Speed, as he hurts himself in confusion. Him: 62% or so HP, -1 Speed and confused. I switch out for Coleman as he hurts himself in confusion again, which activates his Sitrus Berry, but I finish him off next turn with Ice Beam and end the battle.
Well I had the right attacks here, so I was pretty sure I would win this without much issue.
Champion Ginsly overview:
Team entering the fight: Coleman LV59 - Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Dig, Megahorn
Gulch LV59 - Earthquake, Rock Blast, Brick Break, Double-Edge
Hide LV59 - Slash, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Magnitude
Mickey LV59 - Earthquake, Rock Tomb, Slash, Sand-Attack
Punchy LV35 - Strength, Magnitude, Rock Throw, Selfdestruct
Marley LV59 - Fire Blast, Surf, Dig, Superpower
He starts off with Pidgeot while I open with Coleman. I use Thunderbolt, which…gets a critical hit and kills him in one hit. Wow.
Next up is Alakazam. He uses Psychic, which kills me in one hit without a critical hit. So I bring in Mickey, and he uses Reflect, but I lower his Speed with Rock Tomb. Him: 5/6 or so HP and -1 Speed. Then I use Earthquake, which does more than enough for a 2HKO, as he hits hard with Psychic. Him: 1/3 or so HP, Me: 39/165 HP. I kill him with another Earthquake. Mickey grows to Level 60 after that.
After that is Exeggutor. I use a Max Revive on Coleman as I let Mickey be death fodder to a Giga Drain. I send in Marley and use Fire Blast, which does more than half, but he uses Sleep Powder, and his Reflect wears off. Him: 40% or so HP. I use the Poké Flute to wake Marley up, as he uses Giga Drain again, and gains some health, but he's weak enough for me to kill him with another Fire Blast. Me: 128/186 HP.
Next up is Rhydon. I use Surf and kill him in one hit, with a critical hit that I probably didn't need, but you never know. Either way, Marley grows to Level 60 after that.
Following that is Gyarados, who gets off Intimidate. I send in Punchy just as death fodder to a Hydro Pump, then I bring in Coleman and use Thunderbolt, which he survives, and hits with Hydro Pump, which gets a critical hit on the first hit and kills me. Him: 1/6 or so HP. Well, i'm not completely sure if it mattered, but still, not cool. I bring in Gulch, and he uses his Full Restore, then I hit with Rock Blast…which gets three hits, but he barely lives!!!!! Him: 5% or so HP. I use a Revive on Coleman, and he uses another Full Restore, yep. He misses with Hydro Pump, which very well could have saved us the battle right there, and I hit with Double-Edge. Him: 55% or so HP. I switch in Marley for death fodder to a Hydro Pump, then bring in Coleman and kill him with Thunderbolt. Coleman grows to Level 60 after that.
Finally is the star of his show, Charizard. He outspeeds me and kills me with Fire Blast, then I send in Hide. I use Rock Slide, which does well over half…and he flinches! His Sitrus Berry heals him, but I hit with Rock Slide again next turn and kill him, ending the battle. Hide grows to Level 60 after that.
I've always remembered having such an easy time with this battle, but that was back in the day when I would blitz through the game with three or four Pokémon. (I am playing on Set mode, though, that might add to it.) But that was okay, even if I did have to use some items I still had only two Pokémon left, so it was a good battle indeed.
