    The Semi-Type Challenge
    Hosted by Alternative

This is the semi-type challenge, not to be confused with the mono-type challenge. Although they may be similar, they have their vast differences. Now for me to introduce the newest challenge on the block with the rules!

    OHMAHGAWD RULES!!!1!
    - Your Pokemon must be within the limits of the challenge guidelines, explained after the rules.
    - Legendaries are allowed, but don't go over the top by making every Pokemon in your team a legendary.
    - No trading will be allowed, except for the purpose of trading to evolve one's Pokemon.
    - If your Pokemon gains a type from evolving, you may use that type for your next Pokemon.
    - Also, if your Pokemon loses a type from evolving (Skorupi losing it's Bug-type when evolving) you cannot use a Pokemon from that lost type, unless you choose not to evolve it.
    - To avoid monotyping this, you may not have more than three (3) Pokemon of the same type.
    - No hacking or cheating is allowed. I don't see why you'd need to.
    - Emulators are allowed. I'm using one, so yeah. :P
    - Have fun with this. What's the point if no fun is gained from it?

    OHMAHGAWD IM STILL LAWST
Here's how the challenge works. You choose the Pokemon you want to start off with, and you go from there with it's typing to choose your next Pokemon! Still confused? Let me show you how it's done.

You start off with a Mudkip, which will eventually evolve into a Swampert, being a Water/Ground type. Your next Pokemon should be either a Water or a Ground type. Next, you decide to catch a Wingull, a Water/Flying type Pokemon. This means that now your next Pokemon can be either a Water type or Flying type. To make this harder on everyone, since Wingull came from the Water attribute of Swampert, you have to use the second type for your third Pokemon, so in this example, I can use say a Taillow, using Wingull's Flying attribute.

Still doesn't make sense, don't be afraid to ask questions in the thread.
Now let's get to the participants! If you wish to partake in this challenge, post with your username and game you will be playing with.

OHMAHGAWD YOU IN OR YOU OUT?
    Alternative // Emerald // 1
    Porygon Z // Emerald // 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.

If you wish to keep track with either someone else's progress or even your own if you forgot where you were up to, I can keep track of your progress by linking every update of yours here next to your name.

Good luck to all you challengers out there. :D

  • If we for instance, have a Swampert, Pelliper, and Swellow, and think "hmm, I believe this team is almost good enough, I just really want a Slaking" are we allowed to catch the Slaking, which would basically end our Pokemon selection, being a single type? Or would we be allowed to catch a Slaking and then a Girafarig or something?

  • So, correct me if I'm wrong, say I start off with Torchic (Fire/Fighting, Blaziken) I could catch a Shroomish (Grass/Fighting, Breloom) then I could catch a Seedot (Grass/Dark, Shiftry) which would let me catch a Mightyena, if I wanted a team of four that is.
If I wanted a team of say five, or six would I be able to work off Mightyena giving that it's type is only Normal?

    Blaziken
    Breloom
    Shiftry
    Mightyena

  • To cover both of your questions, there's no rule against having Pokemon with a single type, but you just have to use that type again to choose another Pokemon. So if you chose a Slaking from Taillow, your next Pokemon would have to be a Normal type, or at least part of it.

    Pokemon Emerald Challenge
Chapter 1: The day in the life of a girl being stalked by a Duskull.

This will combine screenshots of things happening throughout my journey, as well as a written journal of things that have happened.

    - Spoke to Prof. Birch about random crap that is explained in every game.
    - Chose the woman for kitchen abilities and named her May.
    - Seriously, who puts their kid in the back of a truck when moving?
    - VIGOROTH MOVERS OMFG!
    - Changed time and got potion from PC
    - Met up with Brendan and tried to steal his Pokeball.
    - Prof. Birch is being chased by Zigzagoon. I'll whip up a feast for it.
    - Chose Treecko, since everyone knows tree sap is a good ingredient for cooking. Named him Sydian.
    - Went back to the route and trained my sap producer.
    - Oldale town, and mugged a woman for a potion.
    - Route 103, where I trolled beat Brendan's Torchic into submission.

    - Came back to my hometown for a Pokedex and some Pokeballs.
    - Oldale town again for a check-in.
    - Route 102 and found a Lotad for me to catch. Named him Patchisou.

    - Grinded Patchisou and Sydian some before the trainers.
    - Plowed through the trainers with the two companions.
    - Found some cooking ingredients as an Oran and Pecha berry.
    - Made it to Petalburg city.

I saved here, and moved on so I can make every entry at least one badge.

    - Spoke to my Dad about random crap.
    - Taught Wally how to catch a Pokemon, and encountered a Ralts.
    - Spoke to Scott. Apparently I'm not an outstanding trainer. :(
    - Traversed Route 104 and Petalburg Woods.
    - Caught a Wingull for my journey, and named her Forever.
    - Defeated the Team Aqua Grunt, without even finding any Shroomish
    - Learnt all about the wonder life of Berries, and got a Wailmer Pail
    - Made it to Rustboro City and paid a visit to the trainer school.
    - Went into the Rustboro gym, and did some battles.
    - Defeated Roxanne easily., although it was harder than I anticipated.
    - Patchisou evolved into Lombre.

    - Got the Stone badge, along with Rock Tomb.
    - Devon Goods got stolen, so I went to retrieve them.
    - Made it to the Rock Tunnel. Sydian evolved into Grovyle.

    PokemonEmerald4.png

    - Got the Devon Goods back as well as Peeko for the old man.
    - Got another Great Ball for my efforts.
    - Obtained the letter for Steven and the PokeNav.
