As the silence lengthened, Bri knew that he had no choice. He slowly trudged out through the students and took his spot at one end of the battle field. He hoped that something, anything, would get him out of battling this trainer. He could see no way out of it, save for a miracle. Snivy, equally reluctant, took her place on the battle field.
"Hey, cheer up! After this battle is done, we won't have to battle again today," Bri said.
"Maybe they won't want us in this room ever again if we do bad enough," Snivy said. Bri looked at her.
"Snivy, we may not be as tough as anyone else in this room, but we got called on first. Let's get this done, and do it right!" Bri said.
"Hah, you don't even know how to battle!" Snivy said.
"Don't you just call out the moves you think will make you win?" Bri asked her. She sighed and shook her head.
"We'll start with that, because we have no other choice," Snivy remarked. Bri felt a lot better, now that Snivy was not so glum anymore. He waited for his opponent to take her side of the battlefield.
