Caught Articuno and cleared the oceans out. Explored the old mansion and got the key then headed for the gym. Got all the questions right then beat the trainers anyway. Next beat Blaine. Then flew to Viridian and cleared all the trainers and finally giovanni. Finished by beating my rival, then had my night class, but am back now.

Edit: Will start crystal tomorrow. Looking ahead at it, I plan for a Heracross, a Poliwrath, and probably Machamp and Primeape, though am not sure, I may use some of the tyrogue evolutions ultimately, we will have to see

Edit 2: started Crystal. Used Totodile to beat my rival, then to beat Falkner. After grounding Falkner, I carefully made my way down to the pokemon center before Union Cave without fighting any trainers and got the old rod. Next I carefully made my way back to Violet and caught a poliwag, my first pokemon for the challenge(will evolve it once I can get to Tully, the first chance for a water stone).

    my team:

    Poliwag
    Lv. 10

    Lv. 32
    - Swift

It was pretty easy to beat the early enemys with this thing, even whitney was no problem

    Magnemite
    Spr_2g_081.png

    Lv. 21
    - Tackle
    - Thundershock
    - Thunderwave
    - Sonicboom

    - Supersonic
    - Flail
    - Water Gun
Finally something against ground, giovannis rhydon and blues sandwich were like hell.

    Spr_2g_100.png

    Lv. 15
    - Tackle
    - Screech
Training such a thing 10 levels with 4 rare candys was hard enough, i think i'll only use this thing for revives this time

hm slave: bayleef lv.16 (cut, rocksmash)

oh, and may i use eevee? because i wont be able to evolve it till the end of the game... or might i trade eevee to my gen 1 save, evolve it there and trade it back?

Took my poliwag and trained until I got it up a few levels, then beat sprout tower. Next headed for azalea and cleared the well, then beat bugsy. Got cut, then got headbutt and taught it to poliwag. Spent a couple hours headbutting trees until I got a heracross before proceeding, then went to goldenrod and looped back for the egg. Saved before grabbing it and hatched it over and over until I got a tyrogue, took a long time and many, many reloads, which I plan to evolve into hitmonlee to eventually breed for a hitmontop with high jump kick. Anyway, I then beat whitney, and headed quickly to ecruteak, snagging tully's number along the way, now am sitting around in mahogany waiting for him to call with my water stone, as my poliwag recently evolved.

    My team:
    Poliwhirl
    Lv. 26
    -Ice Punch
    -Headbutt
    -Water Gun
    -Hypnosis

    Tyrogue
    Lv. 17
    -Tackle
    -Dizzy Punch
    -Headbutt

    Heracross

  • unsure whether im allowed to evolve eevee by trading or not, and if yes, when and if not if i might use it till i get a thunder stone (which would take too long, so jolteon would maybe have his first bossfight appearance against red, i was bored (once again) and just decided not to take eevee and i didnt regret it yet (of course jolteon would be helpful, but its not too much harder without it, there are a lot better electrics in this gen)
so i continued playing and i just beat lance.
    Spoiler:

i used only 2 main pokemon again through the game and had no problems, only kogas crobat was annoying was annoying with double team+luck, then double team spam and then toxic and these dragonites (and clairs dragonairs too) always t-waved me, but didnt cause any serious trouble.

    Hall of Fame Team:
    Spoiler:

So its Kanto time again now =)

Update: went to pallet town and beat everyone on the way there. lanturn is 62 now and ampharos is 61, lanturn learned hydro pump for water gun, ampharos learned thunder for cotton spore.
i think i'll be 65 when i beat blue and i think i'll need at least l.80 for red, so i'll have to train which will be pretty boring (even with speedincrease) so maybe i wont be that insanely fast any more

  • After my game crashed, I tried to play a random game using VBA but the buttons didn't respond...I couldn't even change the config.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem so I can continue (or restart) my challenge?

  • i just beat red, i attempted him as soon as i reached mt. silver without having trained before, just for fun. Pikachu was easy, of course. Espeon caused a bit trouble with it hard-hitting psychics, but wasnt invincible. snorlax was hell. first he maxed special defence with amnesia, which made 6 of the 8 moves my main pokemon know completely useless, and thunder wave was useless anyway becasue snorlax is slow and knows rest. rest, it always used that move when i had finally iron-tailed its hp to red. but after a lot of revives and potions, ampharos finally got a crit and ohkod snorlax (maybe because snorlax had a lowered defence because of previous iron tails... lanturn was dead at that time but when venusaur was dead, two rounds later, i thought nothing can stop me now, killed blastoise, and charizard got a crit and raped my hp that were still at 2/3 with one single flamethrower. at this point a minute before i complete the game, my two-pokemon-policy had failed and i had to switch in voltorb to revive lanturn :( which ohkod charizard with surf.

    Ampharos
    Spr_2g_181.png

    Lv. 65
    - Iron Tail
    - Thunder
    - Thunderpunch
    - Firepunch

    Lanturn
    Spr_2g_171.png

    Lv. 64
    - Thunder Wave
    - Surf
    - Spark
    - Hydro Pump

(thunder/hydro pump were just for additional pp, and of course because i didnt find any move of another type (except for normal, which is useless))

so i'm ready with gold now, now i've to look which 3rd gen game has the most/best electrics...

update: started in emerald, called self "BACON!", chose mudkip, beat everyone, caught a minun, saved, caught several electrikes. all had -speed natures, so i realoaded, caught a plusle and an useable electrike. started beating trainers i skipped with electrike (i wont need the other two, just take a look at their stats...)

    team:

    Electrike l.12
    Spr_3r_309.png

    Serious Nature (+/, -/)
    - Tackle
    - Thunderwave
    - Leer
    - Howl
Of course, neutral nature doesnt improve anything but at least it doesnt decrease my speed. i was so happy to see an electrike with a nature that isnt -speed, so i took it xD

    On box:
Mudkip l. 18 (tackle, growl, mud slap, water gun),
Minun l.13 (growl, thunderwave, quick attack, helping hand),
Plusle l. 12 (growl, thunderwave, quick attack)

    _____
damn, i just wanted to continue playing and appearently i forgot to save so now all i have is minun, so i've to go catch an electrike again>_> but maybe i'll get one with a better nature this time

    _______

honestly, start in hoenn with electric is no fun. electrike already by a lv9 machop (e. was l.14) and a l.10 makuhita (in l.17) so i already blacked out two times. electrike, minun, plusle (i dont have one this time) - why are there no useful electrics in this game?
... finally learned spark at lv.20, beat brawly and aqua but blacked out against an aroma lady with a scroomish and a roselia and a mean paralysis-luck-leechseed combo
    ____
next update: got to the weather institute, didnt meet any other electric pokemon yet (maybe it wouldnt have been that bad to train minun). blacked out several other times, mostly against hikers, but since it knows bite, manectric doesnt have any problems with them anymore (but its still far away from being a good pokemon)

    team:

    Manectric "Hawtdogz" Lv. 47
    Spr_3r_310.png

    Timid Nature
    Lightningrod
    - Spark
    - Double Team
    - Thunder
    - Bite
dunno why i called it hawtdogz, i think i was just hungry and thinking about food

slave: zigzagoon lv. 13 (this thing always levels when i accidentally walk into a double battle and steals experience. originally it was lv.3)

  • got to lilycove and caught some pikachus in safari zone (finally my slaves cant steal exp in double battles anymore) and chose the one with the best nature. started training and found out that there are other electrics (i could've caught them much earlier) at new mauville, i completely forgot about that place.

    team:

    Manectric "Hawtdogz" Lv. 55
    Spr_3r_310.png
    @ Blackglasses
    Timid Nature
Lightningrod (<-- didnt notice this until it was l.47, damn me)
    - Spark
    - Double Team
    - Thunder
    - Bite

    Pikachu "Zurkas" Lv. 36
    Spr_3r_025.png
    @ Lax Incense
Lonely Nature (this was in fact the best nature i found, since i dont care about evs ingame, i use mixed sweepers if possible (more type coverage) and anything else lowered either stk, stak or speed)
    Static
    - Thunderbolt
    - Dig
    - Double Team
    - Slam

slaves: tropius, mudkip (zigzagoon is in box now)

I just entered rat in wikipedia and chose some language where the word for rat didnt include these 3 letters in a row and in this language (i'm sorry i forgot which one it was), zurkas is the word for rat =)

  • YO! I will now resume my monotype, drilling for E4 in Hoenn, yet again!

EDIT: Woots i did it. Beat Steven etc.etc.
    Pictures!
    PokemonSapphireGBA1.png

    Aggron lv 58
    Earthquake
    Protect
    Take Down
    Iron Tail
One of my main fighters. He's a good sweeper, but he does have some flaws, the moveset doesn't have the best coverage. Ohwell.

    Armaldo lv 63
    Brick Break
    Protect
    Toxic
    Rock Blast
One of my main fighters. Almost everybody in E4 is weak to Brick Break... Plus theres the Toxic/Protect combo. So he got leveled up a lot at the end.

    Lunatone lv 53
    Shadow Ball
    Explosion
    Psychic
    Rock Throw
A good special sweeper, but not very good in general. Lunatone was weak to many types in the E4, and everybody seemed to like Crunch.

    Relicanth lv 45
    Surf
    Rock Tomb
    Yawn
    Take Down
Caught too late to really be of any use, but still contributed with Yawn and Surf, where it was needed. Also a Revive fodder.

I had fun with this one... ON TO PLATINUM TO COMPLETE MY CHALLENGE!!!!!!
Oh and i see i'm still challenging Johto, according to the list. UPDATE IT NAO.

Lightningrod (<-- didnt notice this until it was l.47, damn me)
    - Spark <-- no money left for another tbolt tm, and this move already got pp-up'd
    - Double Team
    - Thunder
    - Bite

    Raichu "ZURKAS" Lv. 47
    Spr_3r_026.png

    Lonely Nature
    Static
    - Thunderbolt
    - Dig
    - Double Team
    - Slam <-- gonna be replaced by brick break as soon i find it, but was really useful agianst the psychic gym

Chinchou "TYPE CVRGE" Lv. 25 <-- water, thunder, ice really covers as well as anything and i'm not really creative today morning
    Spr_3r_170.png
    @ Sea Incense
    Bold Nature
Illuminate <- why does the pokemon with best stats and nature always have the crappy ability?
    - Surf
    - Thunderbolt
    - Ice Beam <--- this was expensive as hell, 80000$ i think
    - Spark

    slaves: tropius, mudkip

i still think i dont need voltorb/magnemite, these 3 are a lot better (btw this is the first time i'm going to use more than 2 main pokemon in the entire challenge (electrode in gen 1 doesnt count, i never used it outside the elite 4 and originally only trained it for explosion) since i'm planning to train chinchou)

    ______

very strange: always when my chinchou (now lanturn) is sent out, hearts appear.
    21kib9g_th.png

i'm glad lanturn is female, otherwise ... this would be even stranger

    _______________

got all badges now, going to pokemon league next (of course)

slaves didnt change too, they were still tropius and mudkip =D

next will be sinnoh, this will probably become even more difficult, since luxray sucks, pacharisu sucks even more and then there is only raichu as good electric pokemon left or did i forget something?
    _______

holy ***, this post became HUGE... why did i write this, no one is going to read it anyway...
    _____
btw i just remembered i lent someone my ds, on which i wanted to play this gen since speed increase doesnt work on ds games (ok, there is 200%, but this is mostly only 120% when playing on my pc), so i cant start on pearl before i have it back
