  • Something has happened and you have been gifted with the ownership of the internet. What would you do with it? Add rules? Remove certain sites? Add more of a certain type of site? Keep it the same?

    Discuss.

The beauty of the internet is in being an unrestricted information network. I'd change nothing to lessen that aspect. I'd only enforce rules that protect this freedom of information.

I'd remove all government censorship and go after child pornographers, period. All this copywrong BS needs to get out and they need to go after the real predators.

While the internet is meant to be a world to roam and have freedom, I believe the political ones in charge seem to not acknownledge this and believe that they can manipulate this into their own bindings. However, as above user mentioned below. It's things like that needs to be addressed. Sure copyright infredgment is a horrendous idea, but who actually cares? Once the product is sold, you shouldn't really what ever happens to it. Also, those fools who write foolish topics and articles need to stop. Baffornery isn't a good idea, and no one wants to hear about it so keep your mouth shut. Also, leaked information about someone that a social outlit is reporting is actually honestly bad. Priavacy is invaved, yet they let that slip? :/ Americans these days, I'm not even happy I'm among them or this generation either. Just my opinion, no nned to argue if you find my points flawwed.

I agree that I would go after the vicious crimes that are perpetrated on the internet, that are impossible to find in any other way really because no one has oversight over the entire internet. Child pornographers, people being blackmailed into nude photos or worse, cyber-bullying that causes massive emotional issues for people, etc. I don't care how free people think the internet should be, if I owned it I wouldn't allow that kind of thing on my internet.

  • If I somehow gained control of the entire internet, I honestly don't think I would change all that much to it. The first thing I can think of is removing some of the censorship in places like China, and stop other governments from trying to censor the internet, especially when wording of their plans are so poor that you could basically be fined or even sent to jail for just looking at something like a copyrighted song on YouTube.

I would also try to stamp out as much illegality as I possibly could, but being just one person, it might be hard to enforce that. Considering there are upwards of 10 billion pages on the internet, I might consider hiring people to help stop internet crime (assuming I'm making lots of money by owning the internet).
