  • Yeah, Feraligatr is the only one that makes sense as Water/Dragon, which means that if it ends up pulling a Blastoise or a Gyarados it'll ruin any chance of a starter dragon trio...unless if Gen VII (or way down the road) has a water dragonesk starter that is or Mega evolves into Water/Dragon.

Perhaps they'll fuse the VS seeker and the Pokégear, with the device sending out the same frequency waves the VS. Seeker does, but can only be used for quick on the go battles, instead of scheduling one far away, or with Gym leaders and the like.

Btw do you guys think GF will make a new character who is interested in the legends of Kanto? Kanto legendaries lack backstory (we aren't even sure if Lugia is really the Bird's Trio Master or if TR really made Mewtwo as thus far that's been extra canonical stuff) and has no who is into them. Johto myth has Eusine, Hoenn's has Steven, Zinnia and to some extent Wallace, Sinnoh's has Cynthia and Rowan, Unova has Mr. Juniper, Kalos has...well no one outside of the villains (which Hoenn-Unova myths also have as specialists)...

Extra canonical stuff that could stand to be canonized in the games once and for all, IMO.

I'd like to see Lorelei play that role in regards to Lugia and the Bird Trio, since their main story would be in the Orange Islands (where she's from), and it would give her character some much needed development. (It could also pave a way for her to return in new Gen 2 remakes instead of vanishing into thin air like she did in GSC/HGSS.) She'd also have close friends in both Lance and Prof. Ivy as backup.

As for Mewtwo, I'd like to see both Mr. Fuji and Silver involved with it. Explain that Fuji was unknowingly hired by Team Rocket to help create a new "super Pokémon," but he renounced the project as soon as he discovered their intentions and Mewtwo started lashing out (resulting in the destruction of Cinnabar Mansion). Later on, a young Silver strikes up a bond with Mewtwo (both being abused and neglected by Giovanni), and he follows Mewtwo off to Cerulean Cave. After you catch/defeat Mewtwo, Silver runs away, and he isn't seen or heard from for three years.

I'm not sure how I feel about Prof. Ivy being a character in the games...I rather they make Malva be Lorelei's sister and have her play whatever role you have in mind for Prof. Ivy. Also it's funny that you bring up Lance and Lugia together as the only extra canon those two have popped in together is in Pokemon Special when evil Lance tried to summon it himself. Perhaps we could get something similar to Archie and Jirachi, like Lance (and his friends) met Lugia when he was younger.

It would love to see a kid Silver...but that scenerio kind of makes the PC look like a bully, trapping the Kid's friend...

If you're going to have the Orange Islands, then you might as well have her. If not, then you might as well go back to having the Sevii Islands.

As for Malva, I'd want to do something else with her, as she's supposed to be evil.

This scenario took no influence or inspiration from Adventures (where Lance is a completely different person), whatsoever. I'd just say that he heard stories of Lugia while growing up in Johto, and the Pokémon always fascinated him.

Well, it wouldn't have been the first time the PC looked like a bully, and it makes for a good story.

  • I rather have the Sevii islands back. They need to be developed and a remake can do just that.

I mean as a reference that GF can make like how Archie being connected to Jirachi seems to
    be.

What other times have there been?

Then, we can have an overhauled Sevii (complete with its own League) and a Suspiciously Similar Substitute for Ivy, instead.

Like, when you crush Blue's dreams of being Champion before his grandfather (who already favors you over him) can even get there to congratulate him. Sure, Blue's a jerk, but that's a pretty mean thing to do, too. :P

  • If GF has Silph Co. develop the Pokegear a few years earlier (for the Kanto re-remake's time) then what features would you like to see added? Should they expand the radio feature of the device to work like the Hoenn, and Sinnoh sounds of HGSS' Pokegear? With mons that aren't common or native popping up?

I'd have it be a slightly more pared-down version of Gen 2's PokéGear, such as the radio function only being used for swarms (with the Hoenn/Sinnoh/Unova/Kalos Sounds being unlocked as soon as you get the National Dex; Gen 2 Pokémon, on the other hand, would just automatically start appearing in the places they were located in GSC/HGSS Kanto).

The Phone would include the numbers of important NPCs (including every Gym Leader and E4 member) and would serve as both a means for scheduling Gym Leader rematches (as well as other time-based events) and as a much more functional replacement for the Fame Checker. The VS Seeker would still return for regular trainer rematches.

If Silph Co. were to develop and release the PokéGear earlier due to the ΩR/αS/X/Y timeline's more advanced stage of technological development, then I'd like to see it implement a merged version of the feature sets made available to players by FR/LG's Fame Checker; the 'Time,' 'Map,' 'Phone,' and 'Radio' functions of G/S/C/HG/SS's PokéGear; the PokéNav's 'Map,' 'Condition,' and 'Trainer's Eyes'/'Match Call' functions; the PokéNav Plus's 'AreaNav,' 'DexNav,' 'PlayNav,' and 'BuzzNav' apps; at least some, but maybe all, of the Pokétch's apps; the C-Gear's 'Xtransceiver,' 'Game Sync,' 'Feeling Check,' 'Tag Log,' and 'Survey Radar' functions; Generation VI's Player Search System; and the P✬DA's e-mail and 'Strategy Memo' apps. I'd like to see all of these devices' mentioned features integrated in a way that makes sense, though. The clock should be small, resizable, or relocatable, and all of the map-, in-game– and inter-player–communication-, and news-related features grouped together somewhat logically. It would be cool if whatever 'PokéDevice' appears in the R/G/B/Y/FR/LG remakes would just replace the information-related items that have occupied the in-game menu up until now. I've always thought that there should be some kind of connection between the PokéDex and the list of Pokémon in your party, and it seems to me like some of the details listed in the latter could only be available to view in-game if your PokéDex contained some kind of internal medical scanner like the ones from Pokémon Adventures do. An additional link to DexNav-like features would also be greatly appreciated. And I think that your Trainer Card and badges should be represented in-game by data transferred to your PokéDevice from them by internal RFID chips, although it would still make sense for somebody living in the games' universe to store some kind of trainer ID method with their physical badges! But I suppose that such an extensive overhaul of the in-game menus probably wouldn't be appropriate for Kanto remakes unless it were to be done prior to their release in some main-series games featuring a new region, wouldn't they?

I would like that. Maybe it should be a mini league with three gyms, those being Fairy, Dark, and Ground/Other as those types are missing in the Gen II games and their remakes, so it'll be a nice reference. I guess they could add more, but those can be based on accuracy and other stuff like that rather than type alone.

Four gyms based on different playstyles would be better, IMO. Like, have a gym that's based around double battles, or stall.

  • I'd leave the type specialties out (especially Ground, which does have a specialist in Gen 1). I'd do Double Battles, Triple Battles, Rotation Battles, and Inverse Battles.

Yeah, but it's kind of replaced in Gen II, I guess me wanting it to be ground is in hopes of the league appearing in a GSC re-remake too...but then again Blue is also any type. I hope that GF introduces yet another new type next Gen (hopefully Sound, with Jigglypuff being retconned to Sound/Fairy).

  • Fairy was predicted by fans (including me) prior to Sylveon being confirmed as such. Fairy is basically the light type by another name anyways...

Anyways back on topic perhaps the Sevii islands will have a Battle Frontier insteead of gyms, yet once one beats all of them for the first time we get to Battle the Frontier champion. Sadly a BF and/or an extra league both seem unlikely given the shift of focus to competitive play.

Well, a battle facility would still cater to the competitive crowd (since "perfect" Pokémon are pretty much required to get through it), so we'll probably get one. Based on past trends (ie. HGSS getting Platinum's Battle Frontier and ORAS getting XY's Battle Maison), the Gen 1 remakes will probably get whatever facility is in Gen 7's main games (which could be a Battle Frontier, although probably not the one you really want to see again).

Not really, I managed to get six of the Seven Battle Symbols with imperfect mons in Emerald, likewise for the BF in Platinum and SoulSilver. If that was true GF would've added one in ORAS...and they didn't, saying fans don't like BF's...

Oh, I'm sure it's possible, but it's very difficult, especially with all of the hax that tends to infest these battle facilities.

As for why the Emerald BF didn't return in ORAS, well, first of all, they were obviously trying to ignore as much of Emerald as possible. None of the Gym Leaders had their Emerald teams, and Juan was nowhere to be found. Don't ask me why they chose to do this (although, I can tell you that it isn't because they're going to make "DeltaEmerald" later), but it is what it is.

And, time may have also been an issue. It's worth pointing out that both BFs were introduced in Third Versions, games that GF didn't have to build from the ground up, so that gave them more time to develop these large battle areas, create Frontier Brains, and the like.

ORAS, on the other hand, were built completely from the ground up and took far more time to make than your typical Third Version, so it's possible that GF thought they could save time by just copying over the Battle Maison from XY instead of taking the time to recreate Emerald's BF in 3DS graphics. This is probably also why HGSS copy/pasted Platinum's BF instead of having a brand new one; it was easier to do, and it saved GF a lot of time.

  • I guess a Kanto re-remake will get stuck with whatever the game before it has as a facility :/ (hope it's good). Or maybe not, seeing how FRLG lacked the Battle Tower from Ruby and Sapphire. If it was due to time it would be nice for GF to just say so, rather than make up a bogus excuse :( .
