Name: Erina Bresh
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Hometown: Lavaridge Town, Hoenn
Personality: Erina is not a shy girl, and she has a cheerful exterior. When Erina wants something or has an opinion on something, she has no trouble expressing it and doesn't beat around the bush. While she doesn't lack tact, at times her words may seem a little harsh or provoking to people who aren't used to that way of speaking. Erina's outwards appearance can also be a little misleading. People except her to be friendly but she holds a more neutral attitude towards people until she knows them well. The only times she is friendly or open with strangers or new acquaintances is when they express an interest in rock climbing or anything similar to it, and when she is caught up in the excitement of battling.
Erina is confident in her abilities and believes she can achieve most things with hard work, patience and perseverance. Despite this confidence she also knows her weaknesses, and is willing to defer things to people much more capable, although secretly she'd prefer to take a crack at it herself first, and often times she will. Whenever she fails, it only pushes her to work harder so she succeeds next time around.
Whenever Erina feels stressed or worry - despite everything she isn't much of an optimist - she finds physical activities to be soothing and effective in calming her down.
Battle Style: Erina's style of battling is very fast paced. By doing this, Erina typically puts a lot of pressure on the opponent, not allowing them time to think of a counter attack or putting them constantly on their toes. She tries to finish battles as soon as they begin. Typically this doesn't work on pokémon with strong defenses, and at times her vigor can turn into recklessness and she may leave holes open in her pokemon's defenses.
History: Raised in Lavaridge Town, Erina was a curious child, and troublesome for her parents to handle. At first, Erina was all her parents could ask for. Erina was quiet, rarely making a peep and surprisingly self reliant as a baby/young child. She was well behaved and listened to whatever her parents had to say. At some point, when Erina turned 7 or 8, she became incredibly curious and that's when she started to become a handful for her parents to handle. Whenever Erina would be out to play, she'd sneak off to explore the mountains or she'd mess around the hot springs. While her parents disapproved, Mt. Chimney being a volcano and all, Erina loved scaling the mountains, and found the steeper areas to be the most fun. Through the experience and sheer time of it all, she's become an exceptional climber, not to mention being in great physical shape. Her parents eventually gave in, knowing that even if they stopped her she'd still find out a way to sneak out, but made her borrow one of their pokémon incase she provoked a wild pokémon while climbing. Because of this she already has some minimal experience working and training with pokémon, but very little of it has to do with battling.
Living in Lavaridge, Erina become very familiar with the Gym Leader, Flannery. She admired her passion and spirit for pokémon and battling, which would be the inspiration for Erina herself to become a pokémon trainer. When Erina wasn't scaling the mountains, or loitering around town, she was watching Flannery battle. Flannery's presence in her life as a role model also influenced Erina to pick Cyndaquil as her starter pokémon. She wanted her first pokémon to at least be a fire type, the type that Flannery was famous in Hoenn for using.
When Erina first met Briar, the wild Cyndaquil was casually strolling around the hot springs dragging around a shirt that had the words "All Hail Lord Blarzigord" printed on it. Overtime the Cyndaquil took a liking to Erina and she to him as well. Working a part time job, she earned the money to purchase a pokeball and then officially made him hers. With the part time job she had, Erina saved up enough money to travel to the Sinnoh region. Although she could've started her journey at home in Hoenn, Erina's passion for rock climbing led her to Sinnoh, where she could really test her skills at Mt. Coronet.
