  • The idea of this thread is to encourage writing by adding an immediate and dire element of competition. What you will do is team up with one or more people, pick a start and end time, and begin writing as furiously as possible. When time is up, count how many words you have, and compare your results to those of your competition. The highest word count wins, but technically everyone wins since everyone is getting writing done. :D

I recommend using Write or Die, since it has a built-in timer and will egg you along, but feel free to type in Word or an equivalent program and use the "word count" tool.

How to use this thread: If you want to have a Word War, say so here. Then, when other people post that they also want to have a Word War, get in contact with them (via VM/PM/IM) and organize the thing! Basically, you should treat this like you would the wi-fi battle threads.

When your Word War is complete, post the results here, along with how long the war lasted. We'd love to see who dominated who, and how much writing you've managed to do! I'll even keep a running tally of how many words each participant has written, right here in the first post. Good luck combatants!

  • Does the story have to make sense? XD

You can actually write whatever the heck you want. One-shots, part of the next chapter to your fanfic, your autobiography, as long as you write. The content isn't what's at stake: how many words you write is. However, the idea is to use this as a tool to help you be productive in a literary sense. So typing random gibberish kind of defeats the point.
