Smogan battles to online battles in the game itself?
    What's a Smogan?

    If you mean Smogon:
The Singles format is more of a custom format with (through clauses) altered battle mechanics, that it, unless you're playing Anything Goes.
The Doubles format is dependant on whether you play Smogon Doubles (own ruleset) or their implementation of VGC, which should technically be the same as the official cartridge version.

If that's not what you're looking for, then you might wanna explain the intentions you had with this thread a little bit more.

  • I've picked up on some mechanical snafus that Smogon has made regarding doubles from time to time. The most persistent one is the engine's inaccuracy regarding Intimidate. On Showdown, it triggers the moment the Pokemon switches in, meaning that if you also performed a switch, but with a slower Pokemon than the one your opponent switched out, that Intimidate occurs before your switch.

Whereas in Battle Spot, abilities don't trigger until all switches are finished. This means that if you switch your Milotic in at the same time as an opponent's Landorus-T, Competitive will trigger.

That's all that comes to mind right now.

That would be annoying if Impersonator acted that way.

Assuming you're talking about Smogon's battling simulator, It's pretty accurate (aside from a few inconsistencies here and there). Most people actually use Showdown to test their teams before actually going through all the trouble of making them in their cartridge games.

Especially since Battle Spot S11 dropped the Pentagon Rule, this has never been more true. You're not going to see an Eruptran at a live event, nor is a Defiant-boosted Superpower from Thundurus isn't going to take out your Kangaskhan. But during on-cart practice, these things are a reality.

Therefore, link battles and Showdown are the only places you'll find true VGC 2015 rules enforced.
