[PKMN OPEN] The Pokémon Trainer Academy (T) [Best Veteran 4Q '11]

Attract? Oh yeah...crap, they were of the opposite gender! Sel watched as a pink glow spread from Thyme, eyes wide. "Ri! CLOSE YOUR EYES AND KICK HER DOWN!" she shouted up, hoping she'd gotten to him in time. If he could get her away from him quickly then the effects of Attract would be lessened, after all it only made the opponent less likely to attack, it wasn't guaranteed.

Ri had already known what was coming as Thyme batted her eyelashes at him, clenching his eyes closed and gritting his teeth, humming loudly and trying to phase out as much as possible. He could feel the warmth spreading around him though, and was fighting the urge to roll round so he was under Thyme as they hit the ground. Then he heard Sel's shout through the rushing wind...but it was too late as the two conflicting influences met just as they weren't far from the ground. He let go of Thyme, dazed and confused by the two conflicting instructions, and slammed into the ground himself.

He groaned and rolled over, lying on his back winded. Sel ran forward and returned him to his pokeball, pointing to the battleground. "Okay Ryan, our shot! Let's do this! Use Double Team!" shouted Sel, and Ryan seemed to vibrate and blur before identical copies of him burst forth, each of those creating copies until they had surrounded where Thyme fell, all looking directly at her with ears perked up, waiting for movement.

Thyme felt herself be released and saw Ri hit the ground. The pikachu from earlier ran out and was surrounding where she would hit the gorund.
"Bullet seed!" Bri said. She blasted the seeds at all of the clones as she fell, eliminating them one by one. She couldn't tell if she hit the real one, because she hit the ground hard. She shakily got back to her feet. Had she knocked the Riolu out? Or was he just resting? Thyme didn't know, but she doubted she had knocked him out. He was very tough. She stumbled around a bit. She had been hurt from colliding with the ground. It was not something she cared to repeat. The wind had been knocked out of her, but she wanted to win so badly.

As Thyme used Bullet Seed on the Pikachu clones, they faltered and vanished for a moment before reappearing. "Thunderbolt now Ryan!" shouted Sel and Ryan leapt into the air, as did his doubles, but only the real Ryan sent a huge Thunderbolt attack towards Thyme, being fully rested and up for battle after watching Ri fight.

He landed and began charging around in a circle around Thyme, he and his clones moving so quickly they formed a blurred circle around the Snivy. Sel looked up at Bri, waiting to see what his next move would be.

She had to admit...she had underestimated him somewhat. He was a more difficult opponent to fight than she had initially given him credit for...but his style was so different from when she fought against Valorie - this was definitely what Ryan needed to train up before she evolved him into Raichu.

"Y...yeah... hey lets not worry about it to much. Lets just focus on the rest of the day! It'll be fun! Lets not let all of this stuff stress us all out... as tough as it may sound." Mark said cheerfully. He continued watching the long battle unfold ahead of him.

["Good question... well... I usually say newcomers to pokemon I just met. hey for all we know your probobly older then I am. I've been with Mark since he was about... eight or ten at the most. He never had a chance to really train me in battle so we were trained in our personality as well as acting independently."] Snype said looking up to her giving off his large smile.

["Aw comon. Nothings wrong with a little break every so often. If anything it helps your performance for your next battle. Just sitting back and laying on the grass... it feels nice ya know?"] Snype continued.

Thyme got hit with the Thunderbolt and fell to her knees. She couldn't take much more of this! She slowly stood up.
"You ok Thyme?" Bri asked.
"Fine!" she said, trying to follow the pikachu that was speeding around her. Bri had an idea.
"Swing your Vine Whip the other way he's going. If he jumps up, move the vines up too! That way, you'll be able to stop him," Bri said nervously. He didn't know if this would work, but he had to try. Thyme sent out her vines, and swung them around in a circle around her, the opposite way the pikachu and his clones were running.

The Vine Whip collided with Ryan and sent him flying backwards opposite to the way he'd been running. He rolled over a few times, before pushing himself back up and shaking his head like a dog clearing its' ears of water. His eyes locked onto Thyme - she looked exhausted. Obviously, she'd gone a few rounds with Ri before he took over so he was inheriting weakened opponent.

"Okay Ryan, let's get your legendary agility up! Quick Attack, and dodge those vines!" she yelled, and Ryan charged towards Thyme, feinting to the left then the right, then back again. He was moving so quickly it was almost as though he was appearing and disappearing as he swerved, eyes locked on Thyme.

Thyme was getting frustrated. She would swing her vines, and her opponent would be on the other side of her. She just couldn't catch him, not in the state she was in. He rammed into her, and she went flying to the ground.
"Thyme!" Bri said. She was out. Nova walked out, scooped her up gently in his mouth and brought her back to him. She was knocked out, and Bri knew it. He looked at the Growlithe.
"You ready to start listening?" Bri asked him.
"Yeah..." Nova replied.
"Good, then get out there and use Ember!" Bri said. He shifted Thyme in his grasp, as Nova ran out and blasted a great deal of flaming red orbs at Ryan the Pikachu.

(OOC: Are we going with three pokemon? Or just two?)

"Quick attack Ryan!" yelled Selene as Nova threw the Ember attack at Ryan, going back to their original strategy of using Ryan's superior agility against Nova. Ryan, however, misjudged a step and an ember hit his side, leaving a small shiny burn that made Ryan hiss angrily. He slowed slightly before picking up the speed in his charge again, making sure he didn't hit any more of the embers as he charged at Nova.

This was more like it, thought Sel as she grinned watching Ryan. Hit by a burning ember and just jumped back up, continuing in his charge as though he hadn't been burned in the first place. She figured, however, that she'd have to keep an eye on that burn and jump in with a Full Heal if necessary, but at the moment it didn't seem to be bothering Ryan all too much.

"Dodge it and use Leer!" Bri said. Nova jumped to the side, only getting away because the Pikachu tripped. He turned and glared menacingly at the pikachu. This was not going to well. He was down to his last pokemon, and he couldn't be sure that Thyme had knocked out Ri. He hoped that was the case. It would do wonders for Thyme if she had won that fight.

Snype noticed Charmeleon had decided to rest on her side. He gave off a large smile. ["haha! See? Relaxing aint it? Sometimes thats more then enough to just forget about everything eh? Kehehehe"] Snype said to her, relaxing on his back and watching the sky.

"Heh, Ah I'm sure you'll get your chance." Mark simply replied. He looked down at Snype who had seemed to be talking with Charmeleon. "I see those two have become pretty close friends already." Mark said.

"Volt Tackle!" shouted Selene, deciding it was time to take full advantage of Ryan's speed and his lightning attacks. This was Ryan's most powerful attack, if this missed...well, they'd have to be careful with the moves they used next. Ryan's lightning crackled around his body as he charged towards Nova, eyes locked onto the Growlithe. There was no way he was being thrown off course this time. He would follow Nova until he slammed into him, embarrassed by missing his Quick Attack.

Watching anxiously, Sel looked down at the pokeballs on her belt. Ri was out of action, Horsea hadn't been trained yet and Swablu...well, Blu was her most powerful pokemon so would probably be able to finish Nova off relatively quickly...but she needed to focus her training on Ryan, not Blu at this moment, he needed to get some good wins, some good experience under his belt before she evolved him.

"Nova!" Bri yelled. The growlithe had leapt out of the way, but wasn't fast enough. Ryan slammed into him hard. Nova shook himself off, and tried to stand. He tried to move forward, but couldn't. The electricity had paralyzed him.
"I'm fine! Just finding it hard to move is all!" Nova said. He shook his fur, sending sparks left over from the attack everywhere.
"Can you still fight?" Bri asked.
"Totally!" Nova replied.
"Then use Ember!" Bri said. Nova complied, shooting more flaming red spheres at the tiny electric mouse.

"He's paralyzed!" noted Sel, turning to Ryan. Now it was just a case of avoiding Nova's fire attacks and making sure that Ryan's charges hit, which shouldn't be too difficult given his paralyzed state. "Okay Ryan! Leap up over the Ember and use your Iron Tail!" instructed Sel - it was of the upmost importance that Ryan didn't fall at this last hurdle...he needed to win this battle badly, she didn't see how he could pick up his training again after trying so hard and failing with a loss here.

Leaping high into the air, Ryan's tail hardened and glinted, looking almost as though it had turned to Iron. He somersaulted down towards Nova, swinging his solid, hard tail through the air towards Nova, not seeing how his attack could miss the paralyzed pokemon.

Nova looked up and used Bite. The Iron Tail nailed him in the head, but he caught the pikachu by his leg, and began shaking him.
"Niced catch, Nova! Now, use Ember again!" Bri said. Nova threw the little mouse away and blasted more flaming spheres at him. Bri desperately wanted to win. He hadn't won a single battle yet! He looked at Thyme, who had woken up and was watching the fight with bleary, unfocused eyes.
"You ok there?" Bri asked.
"Yeah, just got hit way harder than I should have," Thyme said.

"THUNDERBOLT!" cried Selene as Nova let go of Ryan's leg - she watched as Ryan flew up into the air, blasting out a large lightning attack and firing it directly towards Nova. Instead, however, of trying to put distance between the two, Ryan used the momentum of Nova's throw and used his tail as a rudder, directing himself so he was directly over Nova. He plummeted downwards, aiming to land on Nova's back as he sustained the Thunderbolt attack, unrelenting.

Nova tried to move, and found his legs were working a little. Not enough to get away from the attack, but enough so the mouse wouldn't land o n him. He got hit hard by the Thunderbolt. He growled at the pikachu. That had hurt! He wouldn't be able to take too much more!
"Ember!" Bri said. Nova blasted still more of those flaming red orbs at the mouse. He wasn't fast enough to dodge the stupid little rat! And his legs not working made it worse!

"Ryan, use your quick attack! Take advantage of Nova's paralysis and circle round behind and then slam!" instructed Sel, fists balled as she watched the battle unfold. So the Growlithe could move enough to avoid Ryan landing on him, but she doubted he could move quickly enough to dodge his Quick Attack even when well, never mind when paralyzed.

She watched with baited breath as Ryan avoided the Ember attack and circled around behind Nova, out of range of the Ember and charging at him from behind. He sensed that this attack would have the best potential to hit, and threw everything into the charge, his legs moving in a blur.
