Pokemon SoulSilver - Last Member and Moveset Help?

Hey everyone, i'm new here, and basically just looking to get some ideas as to what to make my last pokemon.

Right now, i've just beaten the 3rd gym, so not far in, but i like having a team set out so i know what i'm aiming for.

At the moment my 5 are as follows (Movesets are what will be learnt, not necessarily on them now);

And then my 6th pokemon. There are a few i'm considering at the moment, so i'll list them below;

Mamoswine
Roserade
Dragonite
Aggron
Gliscor
Tangrowth
Exeggutor

Those are just a few that i think may be good to my team, but i'm not an expert so any help is appreciated.

Like i said at the top of this post, i'm only at 4th gym, so these movesets are all 'future' sets, and they are definite, i've just got another tab open with serebii and picked the 4 strongest moves, so i am very much open for suggestions.

Mamoswine: Not a bad Pokemon. It's one of the few Ice-types that aren't completely useless, being a partial Ground-type. It can Earthquake for good damage, and it's stats are all-around okay.

Roserade: Not good. Not good at all. Well, okay, maybe this is just because I hold a general dislike for most Grass-types, but I have a point with Roserade. It's just not a good Pokemon. Sure, maybe it's alright in DPPt early on, but there are many better Grass-types than this one. Even a Victreebel is better.

Dragonite: Ah, Ye Olde Dragonite, the first-ever Pseudo-Legendary. While it's certainly a good Pokemon, it's horrendously difficult to find or raise up. You either have to frequent the Casino, or you have to catch it underleveled in the Dragon's Den. Overall, it is difficult to find/evolve, but it is worth the extra effort if you're willing to put it in.

Aggron: A mixed bag if I ever saw one, Aggron's massive offensive powers and badass appearance are offset by two factors: 4x Weaknesses to Ground and Fighting, two of the strongest and most common types in the game. I wouldn't suggest this one simply because of it's weaknesses, but it certainly isn't bad.

Gliscor: I would strongly suggest this one. It's stats are great, it's moveset is phenomenal, it has a great type combination, and it's versatile. I use this thing in every runthrough of Platinum, and it is always one of the strongest on my team.

Tangrowth: No. Just No. You already have your Water counter in Jolteon, and your Ground and Rock counters in Feraligatr, so a Tangrowth seems unnecessary. Besides, it has mediocre stats and a lackluster movepool.

Exeggutor: This is an interesting one. Overall, though, you don't need a Grass-type at all, and you don't need a Psychic that much either. If you want a Psychic, you'd be better off using an Alakazam, as they are much better than these things. On the flip side, though, Exeggutor is better than that awful Hypno.


I would suggest, from most to least:

Gliscor>Dragonite>Mamoswine>Aggron>Exeggutor>Roserade>Tangrowth

Thank you mate, that is very helpful. I've now narrowed it down to one of the top 3 (Mamoswine, Gliscor or Dragonite)

I'm at ice path now so if i go with mamoswine, i can get it now. Dragonite i think i can get just after ice path (Dratini anyway) and i've just checked, Gligar is unavailable on SoulSilver, and i only have 1 ds, and my internet is WPA which isn't wi-fi compatible.

So it's out of Mamoswine and Dragonite.

I've gone with Dragonite, because i beat the 8th gym, and got a Jolly Dragonite with extremespeed :D Couldn't be better. Thanks for the help man

I've gotten rid of Crobat -__- Finished e;lite 4, and crobat sucks tbh, so i am swapping it out, and now need another 6th member xD

What sort of DS is it? Does it have a GB slot on it? If so you could migrate gligar from there and train him up from there. I guess you can replace Golbat with Mamoswine and use Golbat to fly you around places.
