Who should I use against the Elite Four?

  • Hi Pokemon trainers!

Firstly I apologise if this is not the best place to post the following. I've been searching around the forums for 30minutes and couldn't see anywhere that would be relevant :/ If there is somewhere better for me to post this I'll be more than happy to take it there :3

    Basically I'm finally at the Pokemon league in Alpha Sapphire after a week of playing and now I'm stuck on who I should use o.O From the get go I kinda went a little crazy, thanks to Pokebank and have been raising 12 Pokemon since playing. Obviously I can't use all of them xD And now I'm stuck on who I should take with me to face the elite 4 and Simon. I've got to raise them to level 55 before I go kick their butts but here's my team;

    Sceptile (Sceptilite)
    Charizard (Charizardite X)
    Blastoise
    Manectric (Manectite)
    Altaria (Altarianite)
    Mightyena (Intimidate)
    Alakazam (Alakazite)
    Latias (Latiasite)
Gallade (Wished I never used the dawn stone)
    Vibrava (Soon to be Flygon)
    Shelgon (Soon to be Salamence)
    And finally....
    Sylveon

It's not that varied unlike my other games, so yeah my bad xD but I should be able to beat the elite four with at least 6 of these guys!

Any thoughts or advise on who I should use would really be appreciated ^_^

    Hiya!

I think you'll find some quality help in the In-Game Team Help section, so I went ahead and moved it over there for you ^_^

If I could just give my input, remember that when you're going against the Elite Four, you'll be facing a Dark-type, Ghost-type, Ice-type, Dragon-type, and Steel-type specialist, in that order. Personally, I've always found that Mega Altaria is a great Pokemon to have on your team when facing the Elite Four--does really well against both Phoebe and Drake. I'd say Mightyena is a good choice against Phoebe type-wise, but keep in mind that Mightyena doesn't have amazing stats. Gallade and Charizard would both be good choices for dealing with Glacia--they both have pretty solid stats and have the type-advantage (Glacia's Walrein is also a Water-type though, keep in mind, so Fire-type attacks will only do neutral damage). Manectric can actually learn Flamethrower via TM, so I'd imagine it'd be effective against Glacia, since it can hit the Ice-types on her team with Flamethrower, and the Water-types with all the various Electric-type attacks it has at its disposal.

Hopefully some other people here will have some input, but other than that, I'd say give it a try at least once, see what works, and adjust from there :)

  • Sopheria covered some of the choices, but be mindful Glacia has a Froslass and Fighting-type attacks can't do anything to that, so you'd be better off with Steel or Fire. Manectric, as mentioned before can use Flamethrower and also use Electric STAB to deal with the Walrein.

Sidney can be easily defeated by any Bug, Fighting or Fairy attack since his entire team is weak to those types (in fact, he has two Grass/Dark who are 4x Bug weak) and also as mentioned, Mega Altaria can wall pretty much wall Drake's entire team thanks to its defenses and the fact it'll be immune to his main STAB.

Phoebe is the tricky one though, since her Dusknoir has wide coverage with the elemental punches. A Dark-type would work but given Mightyena is weak it's not worth considering. If you can pick up the TM for Shadow Ball I recommend slapping that onto something, since there's a lot of Pokemon that learn it.

  • Hiya Sopheria! Thank you for moving my post to here, this is what I was looking for when I was having a nose around earlier today :3c

Thanks so much for your input, I'll defiantly be using Mega Altaria as part of my line up especially against Drake. I've been hunting around for flamethrower Tm to tech my Manectric too, as the combo you suggested I must have now xD It will give him more character too :P

As for my poor Mightyena, it's a shame but I knew he wouldn't be a great choice for the elite four. He's been with me since the beginning and has seen me through thick and thin but sadly I think he's gonna have to sit this one out.

Hi Hikamaru, thanks so much for your advice. Admittedly Phoebe is the one I am struggling with O.o. Since I posted this I actually caught a Deino so I might give him a shot against her once I've raised him a bit first. He currently knows Dark Pluse, Crunch, Dragon Pulse and Incinerate. Just a shame he can't learn shadow ball *sob*

We're glad to be of help ^^

Deino would actually be really good against Phoebe. Dark Pulse and Crunch should take care of the Ghost-types pretty nicely, except for Sableye, which Mega Altaria can easily handle. Perhaps train it up a bit and let it evolve into a Zweilous? Hydreigon would be ideal, but it evolves at a really high level, and levels up really slowly on top of that, so that would take a while. I believe the TM for Flamethrower is somewhere on Victory Road...though I'm not 100% sure where in Victory Road it is exactly. It's definitely worthwhile to find it though, as it'll be great to have against Glacia.

Phew *wipes forehead* that's a relief! I'll defiantly be levelling my little Deino up before even considering facing them. My plan is to get him to evolve into Zweilous at level 50 and raise him to level 55 then go to the elite 4. Ideally I would raise him to level 63 to evolve into Hydreigon but he's really slow levelling up as you said.

Ahhh I haven't looked in Victory Road for the Tm yet! Thanks for the tip I'll be heading there now to find it ^^
