I use Leavanny - Leaf Blade, X-Scissor, False Swipe, and GrassWhistle seems to work pretty well for me. I'm thinking about upgrading to Breloom though for Spore access.

When I go catching, I use a combo of Mega Alakazam and Breloom. Mega Zam is so useful as it has the Synchronise Ability which increases the chance at getting the preferred nature, and then when you mega evolve, you can check the pokemon's ability with Trace. So when I go to catch the pokemon, I'll either Thunder Wave it with Alakazam or switch into Breloom and put it to sleep with Spore. Then I'll False Swipe it and catch it. It might be a lot of effort, but it yields good results. I'm also pretty particular about having certain pokemon in certain balls, so I'm not the type to just throw Ultra Balls at everything.

  • Right now I have level 46 Shiny Butterfree with Sleep Powder, since it has Compound Eyes so I'm using it frequently to catch Pokemon.

  • Haxorus with false swipe. Catching seems a lot easier in XY, so I have yet to build a custom catching pokemon for more specialised hard to catch pokemon like I did in older games.

Currently Im using my Lv100 Doublade with the move False Swipe, to get them down to 1 HP then I just use regular Pokeballs; or Ultraballs if it's extra resistant. That usually does the trick.

  • I usually use my Arbok, as paralysis tends to be my preferred method of catching and its Glare can paralyze even Electric types, so it works well if I'm hunting down the likes of Zapdos, for example :)

  • I use a Breloom with Spore, False Swipe, Stun Spore (for Insomnia), and Low Sweep. If you plan to use Breloom, make sure you don't evolve Shroomish until it learns Spore, as Breloom doesn't learn it. I regret deleting Worry Seed from my Breloom (which like Spore, is Shroomish-only) because it can be used to check the ability of a wild pokemon. (Paralysis + False Swipe is usually good enough after checking ability.)

When horde training, I use a Sweet Scent/Sleep Powder/Petal Blizzard Bellossom.

Obviously you have to have False Swipe. But, I use pretty much anyone that is a "work horse".
Like I have 2 sets of Pokemon. The first is for fighting, and the others are for breeding or working.

  • Well as of right now on my Shiny Hunting team, I have a Pancham with Scrappy named Xiao Mei.
But I'm training up a Kirlia to be my status-inflicter/catcher instead of Venomoth(named Vekineto :3 ) because Kirlia learns Hypnosis, and Gallade can learn False Swipe AND Thunder Wave. Now I'm only afraid of encountering a Shiny Liepard. O_O

Well, at the moment, I'm playing through X (at Camphrier Town atm) and I'm currently using a Gastly that I got in Wonder Trade. His Hypnosis is quite useful, as I'm catching every poke I find. Gotta start on that Shiny Charm!

I like to use my Mawile for False Swiping, and then switch to my Gengar. He knows Hypnosis and can take more than a few hits. He hasn't failed me yet!!

  • I have quite a few things I like to use for catching, to name one I have an Absol that can learn False Swipe and Thunder Wave, so I throw those on when I want to catch something that might prove difficult.

  • My working team right now is my male Sylveon, Eros, as my Cute Charmer, so as to find more female pokemon in the Friend Safaris. Then I have my Gardevoir as my current Synchronizer, to help with finding pokemon of a specific nature (I'll have to get more Synchronizers when I want more natures). I switch into Kirlia with Trace to check for Hidden Abilities, and then I finish with My level 100 Pangoro with False Swipe.

As I get more pokemon I'll make a more specialized team. For now, that's what I have to work with.

Okay so this is one of those times I wish Pokemon allowed more than just 4 moves! So I've decided conclusively (as in, I'm breeding it as we speak) to go with a Gallade, but now I don't know what moves to put on it because they're all useful. I am hoping you guys have opinions on what I could remove.

So I have two ralts at the moment and between them they will be giving the offspring Mean look, Skill Swap and Shadow Sneak, and I have to teach it False Swipe obviously, and want to teach it Hypnosis and Thunderwave because I could run into a wild pokemon that is immune to one status ailment, but not the other. Skill Swap being for horde battles so I can check which pokemon has the hidden ability, and mean look to prevent any wild pokemon from running away. So the move I want are listed:

    False Swipe
    Hypnosis
    Thunder Wave
    Shadow Sneak
    Mean Look
    Skill Swap

Now what could I cut down to bring the moveset down to 4 moves? If Abra is the only pokemon in Kalos that runs away when you encounter it, I can obviously get rid of Mean Look, but if there are other Pokemon that can run or teleport away, I should probably keep it. And While Skill Swap is limited use (only for Hordes and Friend Safari) it actually is quite useful in those situations. Shadow Sneak obviously for ghost types that are immune to Normal type moves. So I'm leaning toward getting rid of Mean Look and one of the status moves, but what immunity (Sleep or Paralysis) would be most common? This is really hard to decide so I hope someone has opinions to share. Thanks!

  • Super Fang user: Noivern that Luke traded me that I also used throughout my adventure :)
Cute Charmers: Sylveon an awesome friend traded me :)
Frisk & Thief user: Shiny Pumpkaboo I hatched :)

I don't use false swipe much anymore since recoil and other rarities can negate my efforts. I just roll with Super Fang. It's decent enough.

Definitely my Gallade, trained him until level 100, he know false swipe and thunderwave to paralyse oponent, with rather good stats in speed
in mine opinion, one of the best pokemon catchers

I have a Smeargle that's currently level 80 something that knows
    - False Swipe
    - Spore
    - Soak (to change grass types to water so Spore will effect them)
    - Taunt (to prevent teleport ect.)

    It works perfectly for me
