    Alright, wrosk for me.

You guys really don't have to tell me your team, haha. I trust you. What's the point of playing a challenge if you cheat or don't follow the rules?

So, looking at my moves and planning my team, I noticed that Rain Dance was introduced in Generation 2, so I can't learn it in Blue...

Other than that, there's a fair amount of overlap - I could have three Butterfree on my team...

    Yeah, Blue is pesky.

    Then use Hypnosis, instead.

  • UPDATE

just finished bugsy and got my second gym badge. folkner was pretty easy, but bugsy was a NIGHTMARE with that scyther of his. seriously. u-turn took a chunk of health off krabby each time, and twice I was in a scenario where krabby had half of it's HP left and scyther had a tiny little bit, but scyther used u-turn and got a critical hit. so damn annoying. I got him down in the end though. :D
now that we can move on, krabby's not too far off learning guillotine. I can also obtain oddish now, so that should cover sweet scent.

    TEAM

Krabby - Level 20 // Mud Shot, Bubblebeam, Vicegrip, Metal Claw

Flamethrower, Magical Leaf, Light Screen, Astonish, Rock Slide, Ice Beam... WOW. What a list! I really got lucky with those moves.

Two questions though - firstly, what's the rule about moves learned by Heart Scale? Strictly speaking they ARE level-up moves, but I wondered if they were disallowed.

Secondly, is it ok to trade across all of my team at Lv.1 before the 1st Gym?

My team will be picked from the following (all Pokemon I want to raise, which I can trade over right at the start):

    Flamethrower – Ninetales
    Magical Leaf – Tropius
    Light Screen – Starmie
    Astonish – Stantler
    Rock Slide – Tyranitar
    Ice Beam – Glalie

I'd prefer if you catch them all unless you can't get one by the 2nd gym, which you can trade over 1.

And move tutoring their move is allowed.

    Update #1-

Seren set out on his journey with Bulbasaur (after losing to Dor's Charmander).
Caught Pidgey on the way back to Viridian City - fought and beat Dor.
Got through Viridian Forest before catching Caterpie outside Pewter City.
Trained for a while, evolving Caterpie into Butterfree before going to Pewter City Gym.
Butterfree confused Diglett and Geodude while Bulbasaur whipped Sandshrew and Onix.
Bulbasaur attempted to evolve after beating Brock, but I stopped it
    Recieved the Boulder Badge

    Team:
    Bulbasaur - Level 16
Moves: Tackle, Growl, Leech Seed, Vine Whip

    Pidgey - Level 16
    Moves: Gust, Sand-Attack, Quick Attack

  • UPDATE

shortly following azalea town, I caught an oddish in ilex forest, which thankfully came with sweet scent. I taught it cut so I could move through the trees, and trained it up on the trainers just north of ilex forest and in the underground in goldenrod. after much training, oddish learnt mega drain and evolved into gloom, so it became much more powerful. :D
we were ready for whitney, who was obviously a pest. clefairy was no problem. krabby took the lead and used metal claw which boosted it's attack on the first go, and on the second turn, clefairy was knocked out. miltank though... ugh. attract + stomp combo as per, which was terribly annoying as both krabby and gloom are males. -.- eventually I scored a critical hit with vicegrip when miltank was down to half health and won. :D

    TEAM

Krabby - Level 22 // Mud Shot, Bubblebeam, Vicegrip, Metal Claw
Gloom - Level 21 // Mega Drain, Sweet Scent, Cut, Acid

Hmm. Would it be possible instead to trade one over after each Gym battle? That way I wouldn't be horribly overpowered at the beginning and I'd get my whole team before the E4...

    Update #2-

After leaving Pewter City, Pidgey evolved on the way to Mt. Moon.
We got the Dome Fossil and headed for the local gym, where Bulbasaur beat all competitors (ending up with 1 HP after Starmie), getting to evolve.
    Recieved the Cascade Badge
Butterfree took the lead against Dor, followed by a charge up Nugget Bridge.
Last was preparations to leave Cerulean, visiting Bill and picking up a bike from the shop.

    Team:
    Ivysaur - Level 25
Moves: Tackle, PoisonPowder, Leech Seed, Vine Whip

    Pidgeotto - Level 25
Moves: Gust, Sand-Attack, Quick Attack, Whirlwind

    Butterfree - Level 25
Moves: Tackle, Stun Spore, Confusion, Supersonic

  • Second Update on FireRed.

    Moves:
    Spoiler:
    • Got a lot of stuff done here.
    • First I grinded a bit east of Vermilion, then took on the SS Anne. Stucky went down and I got Cut.
    • Lt. Surge was easy with Megaking's Dig attack.
    • Went to get Flash, then crawled through Rock Tunnel.
    • Hurried on to Celadon, where I picked up Eevee, which I named Nimble (for Agility).
    • Beat Stucky in Pokemon Tower, then went back to get the Sliph Scope from Giovanni.
    • I evolved Nimble into Jolteon at L30 (Bite) and beat Giovanni with Spinner.
    • Then I beat Erika as well, who was easily handled by Winger.
    • Scaled Pokemon Tower and got the Pokeflute, and killed both Snorlax.
    • Biked to Fuchsia City and got Surf+Strength, and caught Tracker the Tauros (named for Pursuit).
    • Beat Koga with a team effort - Tracker was the last one alive.
    • Now that I could surf, I did so and caught Squeezer the Tentacool (named for Constrict).
    • Saved on Cycling Road, ready to begin training my team to equal levels.

    Update #3-

This time, the group trained on the SS Anne - Pidgeotto got to fight off all of Dor's pokemon
I got HM01 and taught Ivysaur cut so we could get to the Vermilion City Gym. Butterfree took on everyone but Surge's Raichu - Pidgeotto outsped it and won, but I ended up having to replay the battle vs. Surge. It came out the same (a little better for Pidgeotto, actually)
So, I got the Lightning Badge and trained up to even levels again.

    Team:
    Ivysaur - Level 30
Moves: Cut, Razor Leaf, Leech Seed, Vine Whip

    Pidgeotto - Level 30
Moves: Gust, Sand-Attack, Quick Attack, Whirlwind

    Butterfree - Level 30
Moves: Tackle, Stun Spore, Confusion, Supersonic

I expect the next update will be longer...
