Pokemon: The Fallout (Working Title) :pokeball:

pokeball.gif
Introduction: I'm Vee217, but you can just refer to me as Vee. I have been a member of PC since May of 2005, but I unfortunately have been inactive since 2008. I used to try and create stories that were edgier to help bring Pokemon into a whole new light. Some of you may remember Pokemon: Red Waters, which was a hack I worked on that involved the murder of Mew, and its blood staining all the world's water red. I am now back after a four year hiatus, ready to hack again and bring a new exciting story to the Pokemon world. This time around, I will be taking some of my old ideas and incorporating them into this fresh hack. Thanks for checking out this post, I give you The Fallout ...

pokeball.gif
Background: Sometime in the near future, Giovanni entirely disbanded Team Rocket. Realizing he will never be able to capture the world's strongest Pokemon, he gave up and retreated to his hideout in Mt. Silver. In isolation, he decided that if he can't have the strongest and rarest Pokemon, then nobody else will either. With a master idea in his head, he realizes this is not a one man job, so he formed an alliance with "N". "N" does not want any Pokemon to be owned by humans at all so he is easily convinced to go along with Giovanni's idea. The two men carefully constructed a plan to detonate a fatal bomb in each of the world's regions, ridding most of the Earth of life. Giovanni is sour because he could not accomplish his goal, so this is his permanent solution to his problem, and "N" thinks this is punishment for the humans who want to enslave Pokemon, and at the same time a path to lead all Pokemon to freedom forever, never having to worry about battling for humans or being stuck inside a Pokeball. A few weeks later on a fateful July night, the explosion that took place in the Sinnoh region could be heard from the Orange Islands, destroying most living things in it's path.

pokeball.gif"]
Story: As you were preparing to go to bed one summer night, you closed your window because you thought you heard the loud roar of thunder, even though there were no forecasts of rain. This was nothing new, as the Orange Islands are use to storms without warning. Lying awake, you could hear the phone ring. Your father picks up and speaks to the person on the other line in a frantic tone. Within minutes of his conversation, he is yelling at you to get up and grab your things. Not knowing what was happening, you quickly grabbed your backpack and a few other essentials and followed your father into a staircase that you never noticed in your home before. Your dad tells you to stay put, and that he is going to come back as soon as he can. He leaves a Pokeball on the table and tells you he has been meaning to give it to you. Not five minutes after the metal door shuts behind him, an explosion lights up the Orange Islands.

What seems to be weeks later, you are awoken by the metal door being blasted open. Two men in torn and tattered clothing confirm your name, and hoist you up and out of the room. You are thrown into the back of a truck with nothing more than the clothes on your back, your Pokeball and your backpack. The last glimpse of light you see is your beloved home town leveled to the floor, nothing more than ash and debris where buildings once stood.

Features:
- New Gritty, Edgier Storyline
- Entirely Redone Maps
- Access to Different Regions
- Familiar Faces from Pokemon's Past
- New Pokemon
- Entirely New Species of Pokemon
- More to come as the hack progresses!

I want to thank you all for checking out my thread. As I come up with more ideas and work on the hack more, new information will be updated. This hack is not a one man job, and I am willing to take advice, ideas or even help from anybody and everybody. I appreciate you reading this thread and commenting on any aspect of this hack. Pokemon is not just for little kids any more, the goal is no longer catching them all, now its all about survival.

The attached screenshots are very very very rough screenshots that I took that are only meant to give you an idea of what the finished product will look like. These screenshots are by no means the finished product. I hope you like what you see and I look forward to hearing your feedback. Thanks again!

• I've to say I really like the storyline you've planned for the hack!

One thing you're wrong about though:

This hack is not a one man job

If you're aiming for finishing this hack, you've to be able to do it on your own. It's possible that you get others to assist you but teams always tend to break up so you've got to learn to do all the work yourself. Learning rom hacking isn't that difficult though; it will just take some time to be able to start a large project like this one. I've no idea what level you're at but I made this post assuming you're still in the beginning of learning stuff.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Back in the day I would have considered myself a high-intermediate almost decently-knowledgeable but four years away from this stuff almost entirely wipes your memory of it. I am slowly making progress with this one but it is definitely coming along. I am working on creating the trainer sprites (front and back) and playing around with the map to try and get the truest sense of reality I can. Milksy91, as much as I would love to get this bad boy done alone and as great a goal it would be I just prefer working with people or teams to meet goals. I'm a "two heads" kind of guy. I always feel like if there are more minds working on one project the bad ideas will be seeded out and only then can the brightest and best ideas make their way into the finished product. By the beginning of next week there will be some updated screenshots of my progress so far. I am open to any and all ideas and again if you would like to help out with this project feel free to PM me. Stick around, you are going to enjoy this one.

• My first post after lurking for probably a month.
This hack seems to have a good story, how it's going to be put into a pokemon hack is the hard part, but I know you can finish this hack with the right amount of effort as this also goes for every hacker too. What I want to see though, is at least a drawing or actual sprite of a new pokemon it seems interesting.

- Entirely New Species of Pokemon
Does species mean new types or just the shape of the new pokemon?

Screen Update

Here is a screenshot and an attachment that shows a bit of progress I made today. Since the bombs went off, most living life has died, including trees and plant life. Houses have become shells of themselves or entirely reduced to debris.

Again, these are not complete just ideas I am working with.

It's not an error as I stated in my last post these are not final products I'm merely sharing my progress with those who want to follow this hack. The door is place holding the warp event for me, that's all.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the story. I have spent all day working on mapping out the first town and i would say I'm about 75% done mapping the first town. A beta will happen but it is a long ways off. I want everything in this hack to be perfection so it is going to be a little while before i release even a playable beta, but thanks for the support. Here is a little update for today. Ive slightly started editing the palettes to try and get a more realistic feel in the game as well on working on creating "damaged home and debris" tiles. The home is mostly done but there are a few changes i would like to make on it. The debris is a rough start but it will get there. Hope you enjoy.

Hey guys, heres another small Friday update. Have really been working on getting the palettes right for the first town. I am pretty happy with my progress and the way the first town looks. This may not come as a surprise to the old school Pokemon gamers such as myself, but this is Pallet Town after the bombs went off in Kanto. Professor Oak's Lab has been reduced to nothing, Gary's house is falling apart and Red's house has been turned into a secret base. I have been working on the debris and the decrepit house for the majority of the week. I also decided to make the dead trees look a little fuller. Within the next week I am looking to start text editing and scripting for the first town. Here is the 90 percent complete screeenshots for Pallet Town.
