Hello everyone! As most of you may know, specific Pokemon that run an unexpected move or move set in order to weaken or directly OHKO a specific threat, and pave the way for another sweeper are called lures.
Since a lot of battlers use certain Pokemon as lures that otherwise don't see any use or are not viable in general, This thread will allow you to know some better and more efficient lures to certain major threats in the meta right now.

    • I will select a threat every week, and users can post what they might think is a good lure to it but isn't useless otherwise.
    • At the end of each week a winner will be decided and awarded a point.
    • At the end of 10 weeks, the user with the most points will be the winner and awarded certain perks on the server and an emblem.

HOWEVER, keep this in mind; when you post a lure:

    • Does this Pokemon have to sacrifice anything important? If you're losing a key part of a set just for an uncommon threat that isn't even lured in that is what we call a "bad lure", always consider what you give up in order to lure something, that is very important.
    • Does this Pokemon gain anything important when using this moveset? The contrary to point number one, does this pokemon or the team benefit from the lure.
    • Could this method be better aided through teammates? Does your lure need team support to carry out it's role effectively.

    Examples of lure:

  • Cool post. Sableye is kind of a difficult Pokemon to lure because of the nature of how it is played. It's a Pokemon that holds a lot of teams together because of what its ability provides, so it isn't something a lot of people will put against a Pokemon that is doing upwards of 40% with its attacks or has moves with secondary effects of causing a status affliction [and surprise CB or Specs Pokemon aren't very common anymore]. It's only weakness is to fairy type attacks and most Pokemon do not benefit from carrying auxiliary fairy coverage. Anyways, this is a set I have used to lure M-Sableye, in some cases it's actually been effective.

    Alakazam @ Alakazite
    Ability: Magic Guard
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Psychic
    - Focus Blast
    - Shadow Ball
    - Dazzling Gleam

    252 SpA Mega Alakazam Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Mega Sableye: 156-184 (51.3 - 60.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

    Landorus-Therian @ Soft Sand
    Ability: Intimidate
    EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Earthquake
    - Smack Down
    - Stealth Rock
    - U-turn

This Lando can easily pressure bulky, slow teams that Mega Sableye is typically found on. Lando 2HKOes Sableye, which prevents it from blocking SR. This allows Lando's team to continue pressuring the opposing team with the help of SR damage. Smack Down lets Lando break through Skarmory, Rotom-Wash, Zapdos, etc. Skarm in particular is notable for being used on Mega Sableye stall teams.

    252+ Atk Soft Sand Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 177-208 (58.2 - 68.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

  • damn it this mon is soooo hard to lure

    Stoutland @ Choice Band
    Ability: Sand Rush
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature

    - Return
    - Play Rough
    - Superpower
    - Wild Charge / Pursuit

This mon pairs better with Hippo than Exca b/c they don't share a water weakness nor they have similar bulky checks. Stoutland can defeat mons such as Azumarill and unboosted Manaphy without having to worry about Scald or Aqua Jet, while also 2HKOing Tangrowth and OHKOing Torn-T and Latias with ease.

Anyway Stoutland doesn't usually run play rough because it has better things to target (Gengar or Slowking/Cresselia with Crunch or Ferrothorn and Scizor with Fire Fang), but Play Rough can help it lure in Sableye and 2HKO it with little problems.

    252+ Atk Choice Band Stoutland Play Rough vs. 248 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 216-256 (71.2 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ill just go with my namesakes

    Azelf@Life Orb / Colbur Berry
    40 HP / 252 S.Atk / 216 Speed
    Timid Nature
    - Nasty Plot
    - Fire Blast
    - Psyshock
    - Grass Knot

    252 SpA Life Orb Azelf Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 136 SpD Mega Sableye: 120-142 (39.6 - 46.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO.

    +2 252 SpA Life Orb Azelf Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 136 SpD Mega Sableye: 238-281 (78.5 - 92.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.

    Beaten with residual damage.

@ Colbur, lets you plot twice now as you can absorb the FP. Colbur also stops scarftar, Hoopa and bisharp and pals revenge killing you.

    +4 252 SpA Azelf Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 136 SpD Mega Sableye: 275-324 (90.7 - 106.9%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

    0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 40 HP / 0 Def Colbur Berry Azelf: 150-177 (49.8 - 58.8%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO

No STAB Dazzling Gleam/Play Rough are also horrible horrible bl gimmick moves lol.

    Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
    Ability: Intimidate
    EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    -Taunt
    -Dragon Dance
    -Waterfall
    -Earthquake

This can use Mold Breaker Taunt to stop Will-O-Wisp or Recover, and before boosting Foul Play is a 4HKO while Waterfall is a 3HKO. This means that you can Taunt and then Waterfall it to death, and use Dragon Dance if Sableye switches out. After a Dragon Dance, Waterfall is an easy 2HKO. Just don't Dragon Dance if Sableye stays in and uses Foul Play on your Taunt, because then it will be able to KO you first.

    252+ Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 124-147 (40.7 - 48.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
    0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 88 HP / 0 Def Mega Gyarados: 90-107 (25.4 - 30.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
    +1 252+ Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 186-219 (61.1 - 72%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    +1 0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 88 HP / 0 Def Mega Gyarados: 135-159 (38.2 - 45%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Here are some stuff that also lures in sable hazard wise as i feel something that hits insanely hard that sets rocks/hazards are also oft overlooked sable lures and the fact that these pokemon pressure hazard removal so much AND set up hazards in the process, will force sable to switch in at some point.

    Diggersby @ Focus Sash
    252 Atk / 252 Speed / 6 Def
    Adamant Nature
    Trait: Huge Power
    - Spikes
    - Earthquake
    - Return / Quick Attack
    - Fire Punch / Endeavor / Quick Attack / Knock Off / U-Turn

    252+ Atk Huge Power Diggersby Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Sableye: 130-154 (42.7 - 50.6%)

Sable hates coming in on this and with the tiniest bit of residual damage you win against sable and every other defogger/spinner in the game too.

    Mamoswine @ Life Orb
    Adamant Nature
    252 Atk / 252 Speed / 6 SDef
Trait: Thick Fat (aka your mom)
    - Stealth Rock
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Shard
    - Icicle Crash

    Again a similar story here.

    252+ Atk Life Orb Mamoswine Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Sableye: 144-172 (47.3 - 56.5%)

Icicle Crash also strips about 40% from Skarm and obs shreds every other defogger/spinner in the game apart from maybe the nonviable Forretress lol.

    Garchomp@Life Orb / Garchompite
    4 Atk / 252 SpAtk/252 Speed
    Naive / Naughty Nature
Trait: Rough Skin --- > Sand Force
    - Stealth Rock / Stone Edge
    - Draco Meteor
    - Earthquake
    - Fire Blast

A spin off and maybe a long shot lure but everyone uses SR tank or SD SR chomp these days and again people try and cockblock its hazards with MSable since defoggers hate chomp, so this set capitalizes on that. Probs dont even need rocks to lure it in and SE offers better coverage anyway lol. Again no spinners/defoggers want anything to do with this as i said previously.

Utility sable is 2hko'd by a combo of Draco + EQ from both sets even without sand up lol.
