Worry Seed OP?

I have just come to realize that the move worry seed changes the targets ability. With this in mind, could a pokemon like Whimsicott (who has access to Prankster) be able to destroy OU pokemon? Does it work on Mega evolutions like Mawile? I don't think it will catch on, and it may not even help that much, but who knows? It could be the cause of your next win or loss...

  • Worry Seed doesn't see much competitive merit. While it does screw over Pokemon reliant on their abilities (like Azumarill), that Pokemon can simply switch out to negate the effect. When a Pokemon that can Mega Evolve (in its base form) has its ability changed/negated, it will regain the Mega version's ability upon Mega Evolution. Some Pokemon also function fine without their abilities, like Garchomp. It should also be noted that Worry Seed is useless against Aegislash, since Stance Change has been programmed not to be negated or changed at all.

To be Honest I like the ability mummy much better, cofag can obv take a hit, like obv aqua jet switches and boom the opponent is useless, u can either wow from there or whatever it is you have in mind, also does worry seed work on grass Pokemon?
Even then atleast it can take on things like talon flame and mega Cham and even help against venu and pinsir.

Worry seed does seem better in the fact that it doesn't need to be hit. But I would rather give a useful move than waste a slot for it. And the only Pokemon in ou that can learn it are venu, breloom, smergle and ferro.

Some Pokemon might find it a bit of a nuisance, but most do not. Not everything is ability reliant anyway. The fact that you're already wasting a moveslot just to change the opponent's ability already puts you at a disadvantage.

Its actually a nice win condition for stall if you cant fit Haze, Perish Song, Trick etc onto your team.

Last poke sweepers who rely on Rest or Magic Guard see: Clefable, Sigilyph etc get totally wrecked by this who otherwise cant be Phazed anymore.

If they upgraded Worry Seed to last throughout the match rather than just relying on the opponent to switch in, it would be a very interesting addition to Competitive Battling. Pokemon like Greninja, Azumarill, Toxicroak, any Guts user, Gale Wings Talonflame etc. would definitely hate Worry Seed users.

And everybody would try to switch in their slakings and regigigas into worry seed.
