Anyone Familiar with the Japanese Cards - Pocket Monster

    These are what I think, the Japanese version of the western Pokemon cards. I recently found these in a box, probably been stored away for at least 10 years if I had to guess.

    Is anyone familiar with the type of Pokemon these are? That could at least help me figure out what I have.

  • Those appear to be from the Japanese Set that's name roughly translates as "Gold, Silver, to a New World...", which happens to have an English equivalent in the Neo Genesis set. The Japanese version of the set is typically referred to as Neo 1.

    In particular, these are Feraligatr and Meganium from that set. The English equivalents of these two are 5/111 (Feraligatr) and 10/111 (Meganium).

    In 2002 or 2003 I found a gold plastic folder that had all 3 Gen 2 starter lines in Japanese. The 3 final forms were holo, the other 6 were not holo. I lost the folder but still have the 9 cards. It's cool that Typhlosion has blue text instead of red.
