Legends Of The Past: An Unova Story

K9LZvda.jpg
It's the morning of a long awaited day in Aspertia City. Today is the day that you graduate from the local trainer academy and take that first step on the road to becoming a professional Pokémon trainer. Professor Juniper, who has moved her studies to the schooling town, has promised to send this year's nine graduates with a rare Pokémon and a Pokédex of their own, and in return all they must do is aid her in her new studies. These studies involve the research of the origin of Pokémon. In particular, her interest has been increased upon the discovery of nine special stones which are now situated in the museum of Nacrene City. She believes that these stones are somehow connected to those nine rare Pokémon that she has given out, and would like your assistance in discovering the secrets to these stones.

However, this journey may not be without its dangers. From the shadows of Unova, a powerful movement in the form of an organization known as Plasma has begun to rise. They are starting to spread word of Pokémon liberation, a movement that involves separating Pokémon from their trainers and returning the creatures back into the wild. Over time, this movement is slowly starting to gain power and popularity, almost to the point that the movement has started to resemble a cult of sorts. Rumors have been circulating that the organization of Plasma have been resulting to some rather dark methods to complete their goals, including theft, exploitation, and terrorism. However, none of these suspicions have been able to be proven. Further rumor has speculated that the leader of the movement has started to take interest in the history of Pokémon as well...

Is there an actual connection between Professor Juniper's study and Plasma's actions? As you journey across the Unova region, will you take on the league challenge? Will you bury yourself in Professor Juniper's research? Maybe you have some other personal goal in mind... There are so many possibilities, all of which can only be discovered by you!

~How The RP Works~

Each area in the region will be presented as a chapter! In each chapter, you will be presented with various missions and events. It is impossible to do them all, so your job will be choosing the events that will shape and challenge your character. Each chapter will also contain setting information and a list of Pokémon available for capture.

Joint-posting is highly encouraged! This is especially true for trainers who happen to be embarking in the same events and missions. JPing can be done through multiple means, either through PMs or using sites such as Piratepad and Titanpad. This method is being used so one does not have to constantly post alone, making things more enjoyable (hopefully) for everyone!

There are no levels for your Pokémon! Rather than the players worrying about how strong their Pokémon is than other players, I'd rather them focus on the journey and writing as opposed to levels. It will be up to you to determine how your Pokémon are growing, when you think they are ready to evolve, and when you would like them to learn a new move. The only thing I ask is that you send me a PM when you think you are ready to have a Pokémon evolve. This is so we can avoid things like a Charizard at the first gym.

There is no need to wait for GM approval when catching a new Pokémon! You can battle wild Pokémon, befriend them, or trade with NPCs/other players. Take note that NPCs will only trade Pokémon that were available in previous chapters though. Available Pokémon and their default moves will be posted at the start of each chapter.

For those who are curious... The events of White/Black and White2/Black2 have not occurred in this story. The events of this RP will be replacing the game canon. Sort of.

~Starter Pokémon~

The starter that you receive from Professor Juniper may come from one of the Pokémon below. They will start off knowing four moves, three moves from their natural list and then either an egg move or a move tutored move. This RP incorporates everything up to Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, so please use Serebii or something of the sort for reference if needed.

~Mega Evolution~

During the course of your journey, your trainer will have the ability to unlock the ability for your starter to evolve into its Mega form. This technique takes a lot of energy and cannot be utilized in every battle, as it can easily fatigue your Pokémon. It is common knowledge that the Unova starters do not have official Mega forms. They will be based on the images below. You can also find more information about them there.

New_Mega_Evolutions_starters.png

Mega Venusaur, Charizard, Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, and Blastoise are more or less exactly the same as their original, in-game versions. Venusaur remains a Grass/Poison typing and Blastoise remains a pure Water type. Mega Sceptile is its usual Grass/Dragon typing, Blaziken stays Fire/Fighting and Swampert Water/Ground. Mega Charizard is based upon its Y version. This is done to aid with balancing out the starters a bit, as the Unova starters having Mega forms is something that's a bit of an experiment in this RP. Mega Serperior becomes a Grass/Psychic typing, Mega Emboar will remain a Fire/Fighting type, and Mega Samurott will be of the Water/Dark typing.

Much like the games, Mega Evolution is not permanent. The Pokémon will return to their default forms once the battle they transformed into a Mega Pokémon has either ended or if the Pokémon faints. In the world of this RP, Mega Evolution is also extremely taxing on the Pokémon's energy. As such, it cannot be constantly used over and over. Also, the starters are the only player-owned Pokémon that will be capable of Mega Evolution.

Rules

1. This RP is not accepting reservations (with the exception of my own). Each sign-up will be judged accordingly. So for example, if someone has already written a sign-up with Snivy as the starter, do not be afraid to write a sign-up based upon using it as your starter if you desire.

2. Respect your fellow RPers. Do not control their characters without permission.

3. This RP is rated Teen. Keep the content of your posts in mind of this rating. No extreme violence, no mature romance, ect.

4. When you're ready for a Pokémon on your team to evolve, please send me a PM to grab my approval.

5. Obey the usual RP section rules.

6. Your Pokémon can learn a total of six moves. These can be done through your own devices, but any new moves must come from the Pokémon's natural moveset or a TM you may have in your possession after an event where one is handed over. Occasionally, a Move Tutor may be present to aid in your mon's strengthening.

7. Have fun!

I know there's no reservations, but I'm just leaving a little interest check. But just a quick question (it's no big deal), there's no option for the Johto starters but would it be possible to obtain one through RP? Or are starters off limits in the wild?

Just planning on the starters you see above. No, I'm not thinking of putting any in the wild. ;x

Adela Lani Azarola
Seventeen Years of Age
Female
From Lentimas Town, Unova
torchic.gif
Koaiki the Torchic
Male
Scratch, Growl, Ember, Crush Claw
Defining Trait: Adorable

Physical Appearance

Adela is a fairly average teenage girl, though from an athletic definition of "average." At five feet eight inches, she quite literally looks down on most other girls her age, while standing about the same height or slightly shorter than most boys. Her muscle provides her with a healthy one hundred and sixty pounds of weight, all kept together under her smooth, olive toned skin. Her legs are thick and powerful and her arms and upper body are gracefully imposing, thanks to her years of participation in track and field, running, and rock climbing. Her breasts sit on the smaller side of average for her height, and her waist appears average, looking less slim than it might otherwise be considered thanks to the muscles surrounding it. She has a long scar on her right arm, stretching from just beneath the outer end of her shoulder to just above her elbow, which she received from a climbing accident when she was fourteen. Her nails are kept manicured and designed, often with bright colors in intricate patterns.

Her face is slender, but its features are curved. Her forehead gently slopes out from beneath her long, chestnut hair, which is typically kept up and over her shoulder using a violet ribbon, and end at her small, thin eyebrows. Beneath those sit her almond shaped, deep amber eyes that are slightly upturned at the far ends, with striking dark eyelashes adorning them. Her nose is petite and curved at the end, with a ridge that curves inward toward the top of her face. Her faint pink lips are slim and upturned, giving her expression a soft glow even when in a neutral state. Her ears are small and round, with a slight point at the upper end and detached lobes at the bottom. They're pierced and typically decorated with short drop-style earrings.

As far as clothing is concerned, her wardrobe ranges from yoga pants and sweatshirts to tee shirts and shorts, cozy long sleeves and jeans, and climbing apparel. When looking for a more stylish ensemble, she typically wears turtle necks and light scarves. She can most often be seen donning athletic sneakers or climbing boots. Her garments tend to be brighter colors, such as turquoise and aquamarine, or black. She always wears a reinforced black leather belt that has slots for her to store her six main poké balls, and she usually carries a large hiking backpack and a smaller drawstring bag, favoring one or the other depending on her purposes. On brighter days, she enjoys wearing sunglasses and a bright baseball cap to ward off the sun, and she has a heavy cotton jacket lined with faux Liepard fur for when the weather turns cold.

Strengths

One of Adela's greatest strengths comes in the form of her athleticism; her literal physical strength. She actively participates in track events and is an avid rock climber, and, as a result, her legs and upper body have become quite powerful over the years. She can easily pull herself up from precarious positions, leap over large gaps, outrun most anyone she encounters, and wrestle away from opponents. Of course, all of these talents find their way into everyday activities, and have gotten Adela out of many a scrape, ranging from simply keeping her balance to outrunning an angry Primeape . . . which is a long story for another time.

Mentally, she's a quick-thinker, processing most stimuli with great speed and responding in kind as necessary. She's not the most intelligent person, but she knows quite well how to handle herself in the day-to-day puzzles of life. She's also a great actress and, by extension, a fantastic liar, which could be seen as either positive or negative. When combined with her honest nature, however, it's more a positive trait than anything. The way in which she's honest is not that she always tells the truth, but that she prefers to play fair, and she does not steal or cheat, with few exceptions to the latter, often involving "evening the odds" with her opponent if they're being dishonest, because, after all, she prefers a fair game.

As far as social relationships go, she's an amicable and charismatic individual, always trying to be friendly to everyone she meets. She greets new faces with a smile and tries to be as polite as possible, and she goes through life carrying a bag of empathy that she's ready to pour on any anguished soul she sees . . . so long as she's paying attention, at least. She's a caring person in that sense, but she's also incredibly carefree, doing her best to avoid letting anything bring her down for too long. Being sad is quite sad, so why do it?

In battle, she's a powerful tactician, which is the one area where her intelligence is apparent. She knows how to read her opponents and respond accordingly, and she doesn't allow herself to psyched out for more than a second. She works well on a team, valuing cooperation when it's available. The fact that she gets along relatively well with most people helps in that regard.

Beyond that, she's bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and she's a well-cultured individual, always open to new ideas and learning as much as she can about the world around her and beyond her.

Weaknesses

Sometimes Adela's good nature can get the best of her. She's a bit oblivious, not always getting what people mean, particularly when it comes to romantics or passive-aggressive natures. Because of this, she can be rather gullible, and her amiability may border on naïvety. She's also not the smartest individual or the most well educated. She may be intelligent when it comes to people and battling, but technical thinking can sometimes stump her. Thankfully, she manages to avoid such blockades for a majority of the time.

She's also a bit of a dreamer. Her attention isn't the easiest beast to capture, and she often finds herself losing interest rather quickly in many scenarios. Due to this, she tends to drift off into daydreams, and it can be difficult to rouse her from her reveries. Despite this, she can remain incredibly focused as long as a topic doesn't bore her.

On a superficial level, she's rather self-conscious. She doesn't oft worry about makeup or the like, but she does concern herself with her physical fitness and appearance, and she tends to dote over how well she presents herself as a person. That's one of the reasons why she always tries to be friendly and polite, afraid of what people might think of her if she comes off as too brash or insulting.

One of her most noticeable issues is her competitive streak. One might say that she's a bit too competitive, primarily when it comes to running, climbing, and battling. She doesn't know when to give up and doesn't know how to accept defeat. She's outrageously stubborn when things begin to go south, and often won't give up even when it's clear that she's lost. When such a point is reached, she can become rather antagonistic, with her competitive attitude being one of the only things that can override her polite and self-conscious attitude.

On that note, she's quick to become defensive in similar situations, and in general when someone antagonizes her. She's easily irritated when she or her companions, including her pokémon, are threatened in any way, and when upset, she tends to become reckless, charging into situations where she normally knows she should not go, and this never mixes well with her competitive nature.

Goals and Interests

Like any competitive teenager, Adela strives to excel in all the fields in which she partakes. Becoming a powerful battler and a master athlete are among her top goals, and perhaps to one day take what she's learned and teach it to others, whether it be as a tutor, gym leader, or what have you. She also wants to see as much of the world as she can while she's young enough to truly enjoy it, which includes experiencing and learning as much about other cultures as she can.

Other than that, she only really wants to make friends, have fun, find love and eventually build a family. She's a pretty simple gal, after all.

As for hobbies, there's the obvious one in the form of sports and exercise. She also enjoys reading, performing as an actress, attending plays and musicals, and watching Netflix while spoiling herself with sweets.

Family

Adela is an only child, born to a father of pure Basque blood and a mother of both Hawaiian and Romanian lineage. Her father, Sendoa Garaile Azarola Mendoza, is an engineer who enjoys crafting all sorts of strange objects during his spare time. He's a tall and attractive man, and it's from him that Adela received her natural charm. Her mother, Iolana Konani Dalca, is the epitome of grace, and from her Adela learned her empathy. Both are, in Adela's opinion, wonderful people, and they were only ever as strict and harsh as they needed to be—something Adela isn't fond of admitting, as she knows they've always been right when she pitted herself against them, and likely always will be.

Both of her parents raised pokémon growing up, but never took on any gym challenges or other such competitions. Her father used to dabble in racing and other "unconventional" pokémon events, but that's about as far as his pokémon battling experience ever went. Her mother, always an angel of peace, tried out pokémon coordination for a time, and while she thoroughly enjoyed it, she never became much of a contestant herself.

Rival

Lonán Fintan Driscoll, a boy of Irish descent not much older than Adela, has always been her main competitor. They consider one another friends, but they've never really interacted much beyond pokémon battling and athletic competitions. Still, they share a pleasant relationship, and are always out to one up the other while having as much fun as they possibly can while doing so.

Roleplay Sample

"Is that really all you've got?" Lon yelled from across the field. Del gave him a sarcastic smirk as she hoisted herself up onto to rock face above.

"I'd like to see you do better!" she called back with a laugh, turning to help up Basajuan, her father's Mankey.

The redheaded Irish boy returned her smirk as he began to run up the side of Reversal Mountain, his Growlithe darting about beside his legs. He launched himself onto the rock wall and pulled himself up to a ledge, his little red canine taking a longer way up, but not for a moment falling behind.

For them, this was just another day: recklessly scale the side of a mountain while battling pokémon, entertaining themselves while basically ignoring all risks that they were taking. Of course, the latter part didn't even occur to them. Their minds were occupied elsewhere.

"Basa, Screech!" Adela commanded the little ape that was climbing onto her shoulders.

Basajuan complied eagerly, opening his mouth and loosing an ear-shattering wail that knocked Lon off balance and loosened a bit of the reddish-brown stone beneath his feet. He stumbled backward slightly, grabbing onto an outcrop as his Growlithe cowered under his legs, shielding his ears.

Once he regained his balance, Lon let out a hearty laughter. He ran to the side and ducked behind a boulder as he shouted a command to his partner.

"Cináed, Flame Wheel!"

The red pup bared his fangs and loosed a torrent of fangs that quickly ignited his fur. He leaped into the air and began moving in a vicious arc towards Adela and Basa. The white ape jumped off onto a ledge above Adela as she moved to the side, turning her face as the warm flames licked at her skin.

They were playing a dangerous game, but both were so accustomed to it that it phased neither of them. Del flipped around, stretched her hand up and began to climb. Lon did the same a couple dozen meters away as Basa and Cin took their own reins, battling it out on their way up the mountain.

It was a desperate scramble for the top. After all, the loser had to buy the ice cream.

I'd consider making an app. I have a few questions, though. Sorry if this comes across as too forward!

First is regarding missions, just your approach and how you'll be handling them. Most mission-style journey RPs here it seems have a bunch of smaller tasks where the end result of completing said task is already mapped out (and I'm personally not too fond of that.)

Second, I reckon I've seen this RP before and was wondering if there'd be a preference towards members who joined in the past and what you consider doing to help this RP succeed in its newest iteration (at least to the point where players have access to mega-evolution).

Sage Viorel
ac4ea6312eca90e56db091236d37c60d.jpg

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Hometown: Castelia City

Physical Appearance: Standing at 5'9, Sage is a healthy height for a male his age. Living in the fast paced city of Castelia, Sage is frequently on the move, and rarely takes the time to sit down and have a meal, thus he is rather skinny. His hair, which stops right above his shoulders, is dyed black (his natural hair color is a mystery to those outside his family, as he has been dying it for many years). His eyes, which are occasionally hidden behind glasses, are a light purple. Likely as a homage to the legends of his fair region, Sage tends to wear an assortment of black and white clothes.

Strengths:
Intelligent: Sage is gifted in the intellectual arena—at least when it comes to book smarts, sciences and technology (his people skills are a bit lacking).

Kind Hearted: Sage cannot walk away from a person or Pokémon that is suffering, or distressed in any way…despite his own social uncertainties. This can, however, quickly become a not-so-positive trait, as the more a situation escalates, the more his heart jumps ahead of his brain, and (despite his more rational self) will put himself in danger for the well being of others involved.

Reasonable: Sage is not the kind to get carried away. He is aware of his limits, and knows when a situation needs to be walked away from--though he is also aware that some situations (or people) are too important to walk away from, even if the situation itself demands it.

Weaknesses:
Little Real World Experience: Sage has never left Castelia city, and until recently has had little desire to. As such, he never cared to know what life is like outside the big city.

Terribly Shy: Similarly, Sage has a difficult time speaking to new people. Being addressed by those he does not know has a tendency to turn him into a stuttering mess. The fact that he is not terribly expressive does not help matters, as he shows no sign of the discomfort on his face.

Depressive: Sage spends an incredible amount of time in his own head, and a lot of that time is spent analyzing himself. Looking at anything picture for long enough can make it appear ugly, and in that same sense, Sage has a terrible habit of focusing on positive situations (and attributes), to the point where they seem negative.

Peniaphobia: Due to the burden of carrying the triplets, Sage's mother had to take an extended leave from work. Throughout said pregnancy, friends of the family often commented on how expensive three newborn children would be. These situations, along with the overly powerful imagination of a child, instilled a fear in young Sage that their family would not have enough money to get by. Now in his late teens, that fear exists in a slightly different realm. Sage is hyper aware of resources; money, food, etc. He spends very little money (and always seems reluctant to do so), and eats very little food.

Goals and Interests: Right now, Sage's only desire is to see more of the world, overcome his lack of people skills, and train Pokémon in the process. A small part of him hopes to encounter the black and white dragons of legend, though that part is quickly silenced by the overpowering logic that reminds him how unlikely such a thing is. In his spare time, you will likely see Sage reading a book, or taking apart his technological devices in order to see how they work (and possibly improve them).

Family: Sage is the oldest of four children (the younger three being triplets). His mother is a doctor, and his father is one of the countless businessmen people often see trekking to work through the streets of Castelia. With both living such time consuming jobs, and the care of Sage's brothers being a full time job of its own, the eldest son took to looking after himself at a very young age. That being said, Sage feels no animosity towards his parents or his siblings. He found he quite enjoyed being self-sufficient, and truly liked being left to his own devices.

Rival:
Varan Weber -
tumblr_inline_n0r9vv2qka1r2h8qj.png

Varan and Sage grew up together, their fathers' working for the same company. As children, they bonded over their similar interest in technology, and the strain of looking after their younger siblings. Shortly after meeting, they began competing against one another in multiple things: Who can get the high score in the break room's pinball machine? Who can dismantle and reassemble the old Pokenav faster? It came to no one's surprise when they both decided to go on a journey with Pokemon, and will no doubt continue their rivalry in the form of a Pokemon battle when next they meet.

Drew Tucker
phpJMk0dIPM.jpg

"I dunno...sounds like a lot of work"

15 // Deadbeat // Male

Home town: Vermillion City, Kanto

Appearance: Drew stands at an average height of 5'5", but his constant slouch almost lowers him to 5'4". The top of his head is cupped by his mid-length, unkempt, brown hair. He has large childlike green eyes, which he has been known to blush about when mentioned. The rest of his face is rather plain; his short stubby nose, and small mouth remain relatively unnoticed amongst those who take the time to comment on his appearance.

While not quite fat, he lacks the athletic or slender builds shared by his friends in Vermillion. He is commonly described as 'pudgy', since his reluctance to take part in physical activity causes him to gain unhealthy amounts of body fat at a time. Despite this, his athletic potential and obscure metabolism have somehow allowed him to remain in relatively healthy shape.

Dressing 'well' is something that takes effort. Drew finds hoodies to be much more convenient and comfortable. He dresses simply: Wearing a blue zip hoodie, comfortable loose trousers and running trainers on his feet.

Strengths:

Strategic
When he applies himself, Drew's tactical prowess is quite impressive. While he may seem dopey and slow, he has the potential to be both resourceful and quick thinking. His skills at improvising also help him in this regard.

Relaxed
His chilled nature is probably one of his greatest strengths. He rarely overreacts in panicked situations, or any situation for that matter. Drew is rarely phased, as can almost always think level-headedly as a result.

Patience
Both in battle and outside, Drew has incredible patience. A patience that's has gotten him out of plenty of bad situations in the past, whether it be hiding out in the same spot for hours to avoid the visit from his parents, or whether it be having his pokemon endure hit after hit in order to find his opponent's weak spot.

Weaknesses:

Incredibly Lazy
Sloth is one thing, but Drew takes it to a whole new level. If there is any short cut, Drew will try to find it. Walking itself is far too much effort for him to go through if he can avoid it, and he's not above falling asleep on the spot after any moderately strenuous activity.

Family Issues
Having grown up very distant from his parents, Drew has a latent hatred of authority which often gets him in trouble. Whether it be taking orders from a police officer or being advised by a teacher Drew simply does his best to avoid them at all costs. The idea of parents specifically disgusts him most of all.

Pessimism
Drew has never been one to fight for any kind of 'lost cause'. Coupled with his laziness, his pessimism is easily his greatest hindrance, as he has been known on occasion to give up before the battle is lost. If things seem even remotely bad, he'll almost always be reluctant to put in any effort.

Goals and Interests: There isn't much that Drew enjoys more than sleep. Staring out at an open body of water sure does come close though. Ever since he was a child, Drew has always had a fascination with crystal clear lakes and vast oceans. He isnt quite sure yet, but he wants to do something that involves the water, and doesn't take too much work. Fishing probably.

Family: Drew considers no one his family. The two part timers that visited him every now and then while he was growing up, have been labelled with his own interpretation of the word "Mum and Dad", as he knows no other terms for them. He was mostly raised by the woman hired by his parents; Felicia. While he never recognised her as his 'family', she was the closest thing he had, and he respects her for it.

As a child in Vermillion he spent a lot of time staring out into the ocean, as it was calming for him. This was interrupted by the large ships that used to dock there Bi-weekly(Twice a week). This inspired him to use his wit to start scamming tourists who came to the region, developing his skills of improvisation. His parents were almost never around; but he knew that every 16 ships that docked in vermillion meant his parents would be returning, a feeling that got less and less exciting with each visit. After hearing from a trainer in his city about the journeys that people embarked on in the Unova region, he decided to sneak on one of the ships and make his way there himself.

Rival: Drew prefers not to call her a rival, but Paige is an old acquaintance he knew from Kanto.

Intellegence: Quincy spent most of his life inside, reading. As a result, Quincy has amassed a formidable stock of information. He knows much about every species of Pokemon.
Imagination: Because of Quincy's vocal situation, he often has to use imaginative, and interesting ways of delivering messages. This constant mental workout, combined with the large amount of books he has read, has allowed his imagination to grow.

Weaknesses
Inability to speak: Ever since birth, Quincy has been unable to speak. He has to write everything on a notepad he keeps with him. When the notepad runs out of pages, he has to play charades until he can get a new one.
Naive: Quincy is naive and gullible. He always wants to believe there is good in people, even when there isn't any. When he meets new people, he tends to view them as a friend until proven otherwise.

Goals and Interests
Quincy is quite fond of reading. He enjoys the silence that they offer instead of music and television. Whenever he gets a moment away from his journey, he can be found reading one of the many books he brought from Cinnabar. On his journey, he aspires to go on a journey like the ones described in his books, possibly a better one. This along with the pursuit of knowledge led him to attend the trainer school.

Background
Quincy was born mute. He couldn't speak at all, no matter how hard he tried. In sympathy, Quincy's parents never spoke when they were around him. They only wrote. "Mama" his mother would write on the chalkboard with an arrow pointed to her. So to little Quincy, the inability to speak was completely normal. Quincy learned to write at a very young age, and got very good at it. On his first day of school, he silently got ready and set off for his school. But when he got there, he was confused. Everyone was making weird noises, and everyone was looking at him for some reason. After a while, he learned to ignore the stares and continue with his schoolwork. Through English classes, he learned to recognise spoken words. After taking a few advanced classes, he learned to recognize those words better than most.

Quincy's parents were both members of Team Rocket. They all lived in Celadon City at that time. They were all happy, sort of. There were the periods of time in which Mom and Dad were gone for a long time. "They're out on business" Quincy's babysitter used to say. Eventually, of course, Team Rocket was brought down, and Quincy's parents were both arrested. Quincy was sent off to live with his grandfather on Cinnabar Island. There he ran into the usual problems. Kids either making fun of him, or being friendly to him just because of his situation. He learned to just stay inside and help his grandfather in his library. Through his grandfather's books, he gained quite an interest in old stories and legends. One of the main reasons he decided to go to the Unova region to learn to be a trainer instead of Kanto or Hoenn was because of it's rich history.

Rival
Abigail Storm
Quincy's best girlfriend. She was born in Lavender Town. But after graduating school, she became a student of Quincy's grandfather. She stayed in the library and became close friends with Quincy. When he decided to go to Unova, she decided to ask his grandfather if she could go as well. He said yes.

Okay, I think I am more or less done.Let me know if something is wrong my SU :) Please ignore the lacklustre CSS, I was doing this on my my phone, so it was kind of hard to make it look super pretty.

Ivan Roustein

Age
17

Gender
Male

Home town
Nimbasa City, Unova

Physical Appearance
Neatly combed hair to the side, rather clean face free from imperfections and alluring blue eyes, Ivan is the definition of a rich boy. He has a head of medium-length brown hair that seemingly never frays or goes out of his usual style, something which he is very fond of keeping. His face is one his more positive perks, with rather pleasant facial features such as lightly tanned skin, even eyebrows, and he even has a white smile to along with it. He stands somewhat tall at around 5'11", and he does have a athletic build due to playing tennis a lot.

As for his clothing, Ivan can be seen dressing abnormally formal for even the most casual of occasions. His usual attire however, consists of a white, short-sleeved dress shirt, and black dress pants with a pair of spiffy, shiny black dress shoes. On his left hand he wears a rather expensive silver watch, and he carries his belongings in a light brown satchel that slings across his body (which is, once again, rather expensive just like his watch and clothing). He also tends to whip out a pair of sunglasses every now and then when it gets sunny out, otherwise the glasses are always in his satchel.

(NOTE: He doesn't actually look like Rafe, as seen in the picture. I just couldn't find an exact picture, so hopefully that one will do, as that's the closest character he looks like. I will draw a picture of him myself later, if I get accepted).

Strengths
Some of Ivan's strengths come from his book smarts. His parents constantly made him read books ranging from classical literature to geography, which was something all the children in his family were supposed to do. As such as, he is rather knowledgable when it comes to certain subjects, which happens to surprise many people as he often comes off as conceited and quite frankly, a bit dumb to some people. He is also rather athletic having played tennis before, so physically he does not have much of a problem performing anything related to the sorts, but it should be noted that although he is somewhat competitive, he does not do anything or go into a situation where he knows the odds are stacked heavily against him (e.g gambling, or challenging someone to something he knows he doesn't have much of a chance in). He is also great at holding and starting conversations with strangers, and would be considered a 'people person'. Although his true nature is arrogant, he can mask it pretty well when he needs to (e.g - meeting someone important).

Weaknesses
Ivan can be summed as a bit of a jerk, and something most people would expect from someone who has been handed everything since he was born. He does have some superiority complex, and often thinks highly of himself due to his family status. Although he doesn't make fun of people who have less money, he will flaunt his own from time to time. If he doesn't like someone, then he usually has no qualms expressing it, and just like when he was in trainer school, it will make some people hate him. Although it would be considered bullying, he usually does not escalate beyond poking fun, making names, or throwing the odd paper ball or two at people.

Goals and Interests
Ivan actually aspires to travel. Not so much to battle and win gyms and such, but to simply view the world and experience cultures like he has read in books. Although he doesn't mind battling, he doesn't see the journey as a chore at all, and if anything, a learning opportunity. As for his interests, other than reading, he enjoys playing tennis, and using his father's connection to the stadium in Nimbasa, to practice on a professional court.

Family
Ivan is the eldest 3 children in the Roustein family. His younger sister is 16 and his younger brother is 14. Growing up, they always had everything handed to them, so it is safe to say they've never really 'worked', however, their parents made sure they were well educated, smart and went through proper etiquette as most wealthy families do. His father mainly works in the stadium and he owns the casino, and is one of the head honchos in the group of people that run the show in Nimbasa. Despite what many people may think, his parents were around a lot, and spent a lot of time with them. However, something he didn't get to do, was travel. His father did not want to leave the city, as that meant leaving work for a bit, and his mother did not like the idea of spending time in a faraway place. However, least did he know that he would soon get his chance when his parents made him attend a local trainer's school. Spending his days studying, there were a lot of written components which made sure that the students would be reviewing notes every night. Ivan's grades were rather great, and his field test scores weren't too shabby either. The only concern his teachers had, was that he had a tendency to hog the spotlight in double battles, as his teamwork skills were not on par. However, he stuck to his graduation plan, and is now soon to set sail for the great outdoors, away from his usual city life. The only problem is, there's no servants to cook for him.

Rival
He has not met him yet, but another young man by the name of Nate who he will soon meet. Nate is another trainer on his journey, however, unlike Ivan, Nate comes from a poor family. Nate also wishes to travel like Ivan, but unlike him, he also wishes to do something for his family, as his parents work ridiculous hours just to get by. He of course clashes with Ivan's attitude and outlook, and a rivalry ensues shortly after.

Kayla Calloway
9gxfyfE.jpg

17 // Couriway Town // Female

Appearance: Standing at five-foot-six, Kayla is slightly above the average height of other girls her age. She has a rather long and slender figure which matches perfectly with her height. However she's not all skin and bone as she's built up a good bit of lean muscle from her many years of running. While many do find the young lady to be quite appealing to the eyes the most eyecatching feature about her is most definitely her fiery red hair. While friends and foes alike may tease her for her crimson locks she takes pride in her hair color. For the most part she just leaves it down, but when she's running or partaking in some other physical activity she likes to tie it up into a ponytail. No matter how much time she's spent out in the sun, like many of her fellow redheads, her unblemished skin has remained a pale white tone.

As for her wardrobe, it usually depends on the situation. When she's out running Kayla will wear some normal athletic attire and when she's not she'll probably be wearing some sort of preppy attire. However, her favorite outfit is rather simple. A white button down shirt, along with a coat that her father gifted her, paired with some leggings and finished off with a pair of white converse high-tops. She carries around a satchel-styled bag which holds her supplies and poke-balls.

Strengths:

Athletic
While not the most talented athlete in the world, Kayla was definitely gifted with some athletic ability. One of her favorite hobbies growing up was to go running, often with pokemon that her parents were watching over. She's not incredibly strong, but is quite nimble and quick on her feet. As such, the physical tolls that come with journeying across the region should be of no concern to the young woman.

Charismatic
Always able to strike up a conversation with even the most awkward of people, she's been a social butterfly since the day of her birth. Even when she's being quite rude there's a certain likability about her that charms others.

Compassionate
Well at least to her pokemon. As the daughter of pokemon breeders, Kayla has always had an uncanny connection with most pokemon that she meets. While she's not a PETA member or anything extreme, she does care quite a bit about the well being of pokemon maybe even more so than she does of most humans. However, when there are people that she actually cares about, which is rare, she's fiercely loyal and protective of them, almost as much as she is towards her pokemon.

Weaknesses:

Hot Blooded
While she is a rather charming young lady, Kayla also has a very short fuse. It's almost amazing how she can snap in a mere instant, exchanging her pearly white smile with some choice words and a glare that could make satan cry. When something sets her off it's like setting off a small nuke in the area, she'll be up in your face shouting in an instant.

Impulsive
With this short temper comes a rather impulsive nature. She'll come up with a resolution on what's on her mind at the moment, instead of thinking things through. This combined with her inability to control her emotions lead her to often make decisions when her feelings cloud her judgement.

Provoking
Ever since a young age, Kayla has found amusement in teasing and provoking others. This is especially prevalent when it comes to those of the opposite gender, she loves flirting with boys just to see them squirm. Seeing people uncomfortable is just entertaining to her even if often times it comes off as rather rude and disrespectful.

Goals and Interests: While Kayla hails from a lineage of distinguished Pokemon Breeders, her ambitions are to train and become a successful pokemon trainer while simultaneously creating a foundation to later become a breeder. She believes that taking this journey along side a team of pokemon will enable her to even better understand pokemon in general and progress her a step closer to being able to care for these creatures to the best of her abilities.

Family: Kayla grew up in Couriway Town of the Kalos region, as the only daughter of the Calloway family. Her home life was rather stable, with a loving mother and father at home. They were often consumed with their work as Pokemon Breeders, but tried to find time for their child when they could. They can be a bit overprotecting at times and wanted the youngest Calloway to stay at home to continue building the foundation for her to take over the family's breeding and daycare service. However, when they saw just how determined she was in becoming a trainer, they decided it was best for their daughter to go experience the world on a journey as a trainer.

Rival: let me think about it :3

I'd consider making an app. I have a few questions, though. Sorry if this comes across as too forward!

First is regarding missions, just your approach and how you'll be handling them. Most mission-style journey RPs here it seems have a bunch of smaller tasks where the end result of completing said task is already mapped out (and I'm personally not too fond of that.)

Second, I reckon I've seen this RP before and was wondering if there'd be a preference towards members who joined in the past and what you consider doing to help this RP succeed in its newest iteration (at least to the point where players have access to mega-evolution).

1) While the missions do have a clear end-goal, however you and anyone else involved go about reaching that conclusion is up to you. I don't care really what steps you take so long as do get it done, outside of an extreme oddity. (Such as Elesa mysteriously popping out before Nimbasa or something else of the sort.)

2) No preference. I'm judging all applicants on equal grounds. It's about quality, not if they tried this before. :3

1) While the missions do have a clear end-goal...
Mmmm. Okay. I can live, ha. It's definitely not that big of a turn-off since I've already got a solid character idea and that's motivation in itself. Don't have the time to really start constructing his app until this weekend though.

If we're not chosen for the starter we apply for, can we resubmit the same character with a different starter?

"You're annoying. Make like a Beedrill and buzz off."

Talia Baker / Female / 17 Years Old

Talia_zpstwfqk8tq.png

Appearance

Standing at a height of 5'7", Talia sports a trim, somewhat athletic body build. She is somewhat dark complected, mostly inherited from her father's genetics. Her piercing eyes are a deep sapphire-blue, while her hair is naturally black. Talia tends to keep her hair somewhat sort, with the ends reaching down to just the base of her neck. She tends to style her hair with most of her bangs sweeping to side, completing its look with faint, violet dye. Her facial features are completed by a somewhat pointed nose and thin lips. She also sports a small scar on her left thigh, something she obtained during her childhood.

In terms of clothing, Talia usually puts comfort over style. She was never one to wear skirts or heels. More often than not, she tends to wear denim shorts and jeans with a pair of black and white, zip-up boots that extend up almost to her knees. Talia likes to wear tank tops in darker colors, usually in various shades of purple. Most of these tops tend to leave her stomach exposed a bit, giving a quick view of somewhat toned abdomen region. Over her tank top, Talia will almost always be seen wearing a black, leather jacket. The jacket is somewhat sorter in length, reaching down to just past her breasts. Talia completes her look with a pair of silver, long earrings and a black, leather choker around her neck. The choker is decorated with a crescent moon-shaped pendant of sorts. All of her training-related items are kept in a small, brown satchel that she wears off her right shoulder.

Goals And Interests

Talia has one goal in life, and that is to create her own name for herself. Spending her entire life in the shadows of her parents and constantly being compared to them when growing up has left the teenager with a somewhat bitter resentment towards the two of them. While she does respect what they have accomplished in their lifetime, Talia is tired of constantly being compared to them. Therefore, it is only natural that the girl desires to not only create a name for herself, but to surpass their skills and legacies as trainers in every way possible. To do this, Talia's goal is to completely defeat every opponent who tries to stand before her, until she eventually conquers the Unova Pokémon League itself.

Strengths

 • Determination: Talia has a very determined mindset. Once she sets out with a goal to accomplish something, she tends to focus solely on that task, not letting anything stop her until she manages to complete her goals. She is not one to let things such as probabilities and odds stop her either. Should she somehow manage to fail in her first attempt, Talia will merely dust herself off and try again.

 • Impulsively Quick Thinker: Talia is quick to think on her feet and adjust her strategies on the fly. She finds that being unpredictable is the best way to battle and generally approach life. Because it can be so easy for something to cause a detour in how things are initially planned, Talia learned from an early age to expect slight adjustments to be needed at times. This includes anything from battles to traveling to something as simple as breakfast.

 • Artistic: Talia is well versed in the art of drawing. It is a hobby that stems back to her childhood, as well as a talent that she more or less picked up from her father. Talia has been doing it for so long, that at times when she is bored and she will find herself absentmindedly doodling to pass the time. Talia not only uses drawing as a hobby, but as a stress reliever as well. She finds that drawing is a great way to calm her nerves and relax should she find herself in too tense of a mood or in a particularly nasty one. While she can doodle up most simple things, her favorite things to draw are different Pokémon she encounters or finds interesting.

Weaknesses

 • Intimidating: Due to her cold and rather snappy personality, Talia can come off to be somewhat intimidating. In fact, it is not unusual for others to see her as somewhat of a thug because of her way of acting around others and her tendency to always have some sort of frown or glare on her face. Oddly enough, Talia seems to have no problem if others see her this way as she feels it just saves her aggravation further on down the road.

 • Hot-Headed: Talia is quick to annoyance and anger. She does not seem to get along well with most others she meets, and as a result she can easily escalate into fights with said people. To make matters worse, she seems to have a complex where she will not admit when she is actually the one at fault in most situations. Instead, she constantly blame the one whom she believes to be the true cause of the issue or her anger, constantly warping the facts around to benefit herself more.

 • Loner: Talia is not exactly a people person. She tends to enjoy her private time more than times when she's forced into the company of others, and being placed in more crowded and noisy areas tend to grate on her nerves, albeit slowly. Due to this fact, Talia will easily feel more at home when traveling through a forest or a cave than when walking through a bustling citiy.

Name: Johnny-Mac Kerouac
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Hometown: Blackthorn City, Johto Region

Physical Appearance: Sports a varsity jacket and denim jeans. Both are a bit marked up. Carries a small canvas backpack and rocks high top sneakers. Wears his hair in a pompadour or at least a quiff. Has horrible posture. Drags his feet and slumps his shoulders. Definitely not attractive in a conventional way. Has a slower cadence to his speech with a bit of vocal fry. Frequently pushes his hair up or tugs at the neck of his shirt. Not overly talkative, yet has a tendency to wax poetic when he feels engaged.

Strengths: Slate is patient. He takes his time. He thinks things through. He is relaxed. He doesn't get frustrated or angry, he stays calm. He has a strong strategic sense when it comes to Pokemon battling and other Pokemon seem comfortable around him. He is emotionally intelligent and cool in the face of danger. Slate is fairly charismatic when he wants to be. Not the smartest or the strongest but capable of great things.

Weaknesses: Slate is slow, which can be a burden sometimes. He has a habit of not taking things seriously, not being prepared and not being organized. While there are things that interest him, he isn't exactly "driven." Won't give up quite easily when faced with a challenge, yet he has a breaking point. Not an ideal travelling companion as he tends to loiter. If a situation is serious enough, he may rise to the occasion.

Goals and Interests: Slate spends most of his time lounging or eating. And most of his time eating is spent eating noodles. He does have ambitions. He just likes to take his time. He enjoys Pokemon battling yet the idea of fame attracts him as well. Challenging the Unova Pokemon League is definitely on his mind. Seeing and catching a legendary Pokemon would also top his Bucket List.

Family: He lived with his mother and father in Blackthorn City before arriving at the academy. His home life wasn't eventful. They both supported him in his decision to leave for Unova. Both his parents were former Pokemon trainers and as such, he grew up around Pokemon.

Rival: Pink. A fellow graduate of the Pokemon Trainer Academy, and a past resident of Johto. Her and Slate have a strange relationship. She is strong willed and driven to become the world's greatest Pokemon trainer. Straddling the fine line between confident and cocky, she has the potential to be quite the annoyance sometimes. However, her confidence does not come from nowhere. Pink is an exceptional Pokemon trainer and is far better than Slate. She isn't exactly kind, but she isn't evil.

Starter Pokémon: Charmander
Starter Nickname: Lucky No. 1
Starter Gender: Male
Starter Moveset:

Scratch
Smoke Screen
Ember
Dragon Dance (Egg Move)

Roleplay Sample:

Pallet Town. Decent enough. It was pouring and my boots sunk further into the mud. I ran my finger across the metal plaque: "Professor Oak's Pokémon Laboratory." This was the place. I ducked out of cold and trudged inside. Not locked. A stroke of luck. Inside, it was warmer. A lot warmer. I lowered my hood and wiped my feet. A voice called from behind a desk. Oak's number two.
"You must be John." He was slight and sported thick framed glasses. The man had a nervous energy.
"The one and only. Sorry about the time. Storm slowed me down." We shook and started down the hall.
"Don't worry. Just glad you made it here in one piece. Professor's upstairs."
"Still awake?"
"Yeah. When old man Oak gets started on something, he doesn't know when to quit." We trekked upstairs. "So… How do you know him?"
"Friend of my father's. We met once a couple years back. Said if I ever decided to take on the Indigo League, that I should come here first."
"Have you worked with Pokémon before?"
"Dad's a Pokémon researcher too. I grew up around em'. And I already have my first." I tapped the sphere at my waist.
"Excellent. All you need is a Pokédex and you'll be good to go." We stopped. "And here we are."
The professor's personal library. The man himself still there, pacing back and forth. He looked caught up in his thoughts, scrawling on an old chalkboard. A sketch of the legendary birds.
"Professor." The old man turned and brandished a big smile. He crossed to the door, arms outstretched.
"John! You're here!"
