  • This sounds like a good implement to help boost your playtime and make you train postgame
Well you are dropped to level 50 so it's no that hard to train =)

I think this is a great feature, but it reminds me of Orre Colosseum in Gale of Darkness, which I was REALLY bad at. Not sure if I was just that bad, or if it was the AI, but I'm a little sketchy on if I'll be able to do good in it lol. :( But I suppose this gives me a great reason to raise my RNG'd Pokemon and put them to good use!
You are like the first one I saw that is actually proud of RNG abuse :D

And guys, if you really want a challenge, tak "Type Masters" challenge ;) Serebii did not mention it in PWT page but there's a challenge which is unlocked after beating all Leaders and you get the choice of 17 types and you of course can participate only with Pokémon of chosen type. I must say that trainers are very well prepared for your typing so it takes some time to beat them.
You get 2 BP for winning by the way.

  • ^Hmm good question, can we?

I wonder if Chili will get a Emboar if the others are getting the other two starters. If not they must not like Emboar...
Chili does indeed get Emboar as a member of his secondary team, replacing Magmortar (according to Serebii).

Also, I might be the only one who feels this way, but the retro Gym Leaders (Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh) look slightly out of place with 5th gen pokes. Just my opinion, but to me Unova pokemon don't suit them (e.g. Misty with Jellicent and Sabrina with Sigilyph).

Actually Chili's team is posted backwards, the items on the team with Emboar are the same as Cilan and Crest's Primary team. Magmorter replaces Emboar.

And I kinda disagree with a few of them, I can see Misty with Jelliscent. Its practically a giant Pringles floaty perfect for her pool. XD

Sigilyph for Sabrina makes sense too. Nazca lines are said to hold incredible power within like stonehenge and the other seven wonders, for an occult trainer like Sabrina its pretty well fitting.

Elesa with Stunfisk however is WTF worthy. It is no way an appealing Pokemon for a top class Model to have....

Blain with Random Rotom Heat. What?

Wattson with Washer Rotom?! What? THEN trades out for the Pompom Rabbit twins....LAME

All three Rock Gym Leaders have a Relicanth...WTH?! Much better choices than Relicanth.

Volkner has Fan Rotom and then Normal Rotom....Why? I know its electric but why two different forms and why Fan?

  • I think they picked fan because it's like wind power and Volkner's home town uses renewable energy (it's solar though but still) at least that's my take.
...well Relicanth is a live fossil and the rock gym leaders have some link to fossils though tbh they could've picked better fossil based Pokémon...
Also is it me or do a lot of trainers seem to have the bird fossil Pokémon?

Well Xander, I was kinda disappointed with most of the teams.

Cheren with a Castform? What were they thinking?

Tauros doesn't really suit Whitney since she mostly uses feminine-looking Pokemon. Well, she still has some feminine-looking Normal-types (Wigglytuff, Clefable, Blissey, Ambipom, Lopunny and the obvious Miltank)

Also, most of the Water, Fire and Grass specialists have a fully-evolved starter from their region on their team. Red has all the Kanto starters plus his obvious Pikachu. Maylene even has an Infernape.

And I totally agree on the whole Rock Gym Leader with Relicanth thing... there are much better Rock-types than that.

Another disappointment was all the Dragon and Ice Gym Leaders' two teams having the exact same Pokemon. Not to mention that all the Ghost Gym Leaders have both their teams with an almost identical lineup except one Pokemon.

I actually quite like the POkemon selection. none of them are super stereotypical, and each pretty much suit the trainer that owns them.

Castform being with Cheren is neat. Castform was made by humans, and with Cheren being obsessed with the pursuit of knowledge he pretty much fits being a Castform trainer.

Tauros may be a bit manly for Whitney, but then again, her anime counterpart is pretty butch herself, and Whitney finally learns how to toughen up a bit after you defeat her in HG/SS. Maybe her getting tough is the reason why she got a rough, gruff Tauros.

I quite like the Fire, Water, and Grass specialists having a starter from their hometown region. It's like an ode to their home, and almost as a little gesture that they too started with the three starters (though that may not be the case, it's still a cute gesture).

Plus, their aren't that many Dragon, Ice, or Ghost type Pokemon. It'd be hard for them to give each person a somewhat unique team without ALL of the teams being the exact same thing.

  • They sure do a good job with the movesets. They have a counter for everything. I really love the challenge in it.

Does anyone know if this is the best source for BP though? I only get about 1-2 each time, and those Choice items aren't cheap.

  • I'm glad to see the starters being used by the trainers, it's kind of sad though that none of the Johto starters appear for obvious reasons.
I love the Hoenn champs' teams too and am glad to see Cynthia's team mostly being the same as her old team.

Those movesets are insanely good. Like, this is probably the best I've seen ever. Hopefully the AI matches the moves because the potential skill these characters could have is RIDICULOUS. Like, it doesn't look like anyone will be very easy.

Even though the gym leaders don't have the same Pokemon in the previous versions, this feature will be really cool and will probably square this off to be the best Pokemon game yet!

  • can we use Legendary pokemon?
We cannot. I couldn't enter with Reshiram and Kyurem which I pretty expected but they did not allow Latias to enter as well.

Play World Leaders in Double/Triple/Rotation mode. In World Leaders and Champions's modes, you get BPs equal to this equation: 3 * number of your chosen Pokémon - number of your fainted Pokémon.
I suggested Double/Triple/Rotation because you choose 4 instead of 3 Pokémon.
And I must add that World Leaders are easier than the Region Leaders even though it's kinda weird :D
Or if you don't feel confident, have some BPs in Battle Subway and buy Choices there ;)

The AI DOES match the movesets... guys like Pryce are OVERPOWERED o.O

  • Oh okay, thanks :D

And the AI is very good. Only thing they still don't do is switch out unless they literally can't do a thing to you, but their moveset pools allow them do dish out something to ya. I also like how they have different sets of hold items too.

Hell. That just means these guys are going to be stupid strong. Which I like, actually. Hopefully Challenge Mode doesn't improve the AI, then I don't think I'd ever be able to beat them! -is a terrible competitive battler-
I do have to admit though, some of the Pokemon used by the Leaders are quite odd. Like, I have to admit Castform on Cheren is a bit out there, even though it is created by intelligence and whatnot.

All in all, I'm actually extremely happy they included this feature. It gives everyone who wanted rematches a chance to not only have a rematch against their favorite B2W2 Leader, but also the original BW Leaders as well. It pays a decent amount of attention to the nostalgia seekers in the sense that it brings back the Kanto, Johto, and even the Hoenn Gym League, and even upgrades each other their teams, while keeping their main Pokemon in tact.
