    Pokemon trading cards surfaced in 1996 after Nintendo distributed games based on the Japanese program for Gameboy and the cartoon was featured by Warner Brothers. Each Pokemon has its own features and powers. Humans are Pokemon trainers. They capture Pokemon to become Pokemon Masters. Pokemon is short for Pocket Monster.

    The Masters then use the Pokemon to dual against other masters. The match ends when a Pokemon faints. Pokemon captured the attention of young boys as the marketers predicted, but they were not prepared for the number of girls who became interested in the Pokemon mania. (continue...)
