Other Chat forum rules

Originally written by Ryotaro. Additions by Amachi, Chibi-chan and Aegis

Before posting or creating a thread, please take heed of the following rules. They are enforced in this area and have have been decided upon by the community staff. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in warnings and/or infractions being distributed.

Unless otherwise stated, the general [url-inline="showthread.php?t=54097"]PC rules[/url-inline] apply to this area.
  • This area is an off-topic area, it is only for threads that do not fit in other areas. Please post Pokémon-related threads in their respective areas.
  • Do not make a thread for the purpose of advertising a forum or website.
  • No "Funny Video" threads. These threads leave little room for discussion and are not to be posted unless a mature, intelligent discussion can come from it.
  • No leaving/returning topics.
  • No sexual discussion topics.
  • Stay on topic in all threads.
  • Do not post an "Ask a Question" thread. If you can find the answer by a search engine, there is no need to present it as a thread.
For ongoing threads such as the Pairing and Post Your Picture threads, please ensure that you read the first posts so you can follow the specific rules of the thread.

Area specific rules

  • Threads congratulating a member on certain achievements or birthdays go into the Celebrations sub-forum.
  • If you wish to post something but are unsure of whether or not it merits its own thread, please post in The Daily Chit-Chat. This is a thread for topics that don't necessarily merit their own threads but can have some relevant discussion come from them.

Member of the Month (MotM) specific rules

PC's local popularity contest. Member run, categories are allocated for members to be voted in, members vote by posting, and are tallied at the end of the month by the host, who posts the results for all to see.
  • Moderator permission is to be obtained prior to creating the thread.
  • It is the host's responsibility to tally the votes and publish the results within a suitable time frame.
After the first week, if the results aren't tallied and posted then 1 point will be issued for each week they aren't posted.
  • All questions are to be deemed suitable for the forum and are not to be insulting. They will be removed if deemed unsuitable.
  • Some creativity is to be desired in the creation of questions, just to add to the fun of it.
  • Excessive advertising (PM's, posts, etc.) of your MotM thread is not permitted. If this is the case, please direct this to the attention of the resident moderator.
  • Specific rules are up to the host of the contest, including how many times a member can be voted (in numerous categories) for in a specific vote.
  • Please vote in at least 5 categories to allow for a decent spread of votes.
For your best guide on hosting a MotM, look back at previous threads.

Chit-Chat thread specific rules

Originally written by Kura and Drummershuff.
  • No SPAM Posts.
Spam is "Stupid. Pointless. Annoying. Messages."
Don't make any off-topic or spam posts. If you wish to change the current subject, include it after a statement that relates to the topic at hand.
    --
  • No Leaving/ Welcome Posts.
You are not allowed to post in the chit-chat threads to just say "Hi, I'm here! What's up?" You can only include this if your message is already substantial enough that it carries the discussion. If you wish to let other members know you're leaving, make sure you include a statement that is relevant to the current topic. Short posts like "I'll be right back. Going to walk the dog." is pointless and considered spam.
    --
  • No Pointless Topic/Activity Posts.
Posts asking what everyone is talking about, or posts such as "This place is dead" or "This place is really active" or "What's up, guys?" are also considered pointless and not allowed. If you wish to know the current topic, read a few of the previous posts. Also, avoid directing your chat solely at one or two people. Make sure there's room for anyone to join in the discussion if they want to. Any personal conversations can be taken to alternate means of communication like PMs or instant messenger.
    --
  • No Flaming.
Do not make any offensive, disrespectful, or annoying posts towards another member. It can hurt people's feelings and start arguments. If you see a member making a post that is offensive to another member, quietly report it to the staff via the report button. (

    )
Nicknames are a possible way to flame. Do not call someone a name just for the sake of it, or in a teasing manner. This is only acceptable if the person is fine with that name and acknowledges that it is a joke.
    --
  • No Sex Topics.
Anything regarding sex, innuendo or generally mature themes of a sexual nature is strictly prohibited in the chit-chat threads. PokéCommunity is for people of all ages including younger children.
    --
Notes
  • Even if the chit-chat threads don't have a particular topic at hand, this doesn't give you the right to post pointless messages. However, this does allow you to start a completely new topic.
  • Any sort of random jokes or role-playing, such as *Whacks so-and-so with a [insert item here]* does not belong in the chit-chat forum.

Moderator Exceptions

Please note that while something may not be covered in the rules, it is up to the moderators of the area to make the final decision on locking a thread or other actions.

Any questions regarding these rules are to be directed to the (friendly) resident moderator, [url-inline="member.php?u=11092"]Chibi-chan[/url-inline], or the [url-inline="showgroups.php"]senior staff members[/url-inline].

Thank you,
