Now that is awesome CP. Looks very clean of which I can tell with have a nice run within the game. It really does bug me how david keeps trying to make people learn C++, to be honest not many people would care as they are just making a fan game for fun and to entertain others

News at last.

Over the past few days I have been developing a SUPER POWERFUL antilag for NM7 and it's finally complete. The game now runs at 40 FPS WITH 3D regardless of how many events are on the map (zero lag, nada, nix, whatever you'd like to say) so now the game runs with epic smoothness even under conditions that should make it extremely laggy. I'll have a video very soon to prove my "no lag" statements too.

Also, so I don't leave you guys hanging with just claims, I have begun work on the game corner map with enhanced 3D over the previous shots (and different tiles too) :

I am working on something that will take this 3D to the next level, something big that I cannot spoil just yet but for now you can enjoy the screenshots of the current engine

3D and indoors just doesn't seem to go well together. It almost looks as if its trying to turn itself into an Isometric view. If I were you, I would just stick to 3D outdoors and not indoors.

@> Soul.//Silver

Will look into that but I dunno yet because of the special thing I am working on, it should be able to make indoors look better and be in 3D...

---------------------------------------------------------

Antialiasing complete and no one would believe how hard it is to do it in NM7 (As you can see the edges are straight, not jagged) :

Although now it looks more 2D than 3D...or at least to me it does. But I am now able to create custom textures for 3D objects (props to Krän for inventing the algorithm a while ago, enhanced for better performance now) The screenshot doesn't depict anything really except for antialiasing though but I thought I'd note how some things may change

~ CP

EDIT: Old image seemed to be down, fixed.

That looks much better...but yeah, it doesn't really look 3D anymore.

heh heh a bit of an update at last.

I have been reworking a lot of MGC's methods for NM7 and I got to a pretty cool point where many of the tiles look almost like real 3D objects. (As demonstrated by the trees)

There's not a single piece of anti aliasing in any of those screens you know? Anyway, they still look good.

Actually there was, but with antialiasing it looks near completely 2D :

I posted this earlier and it did show up for a while, dunno why it isn't showing up today. (You can see it was, at one point, visible because of Soul.//Silver's post saying he saw it and it looked 2D) There are several reasons besides the 2D feel that I am thinking about coming up with a new idea for antialiasing...but so far that is the only one that seems to (kind of) work correctly.

Your game still lacks the visual attractiveness. Why are you making it so pixelated. Is it too hard to replicate just a normal DS resolution if you are aiming for the dual screen? If you cant do that then use the GBA resolution or anything, but this is just hurtful for the eyes. your bottom screen menu is also dumbly streched...it just makes it look bad. How about ripping the graphics from the roms properly if you can custom make your own?

The 3d effect isn't catching on to me. Your game needs visual effects.

A Game Made with RPG Maker XP.

Languages: Ruby and RGSS (Also a bunch RGSS2 is used)

Introduction? But of course!

Pokémon Origin is a game created by me and the development team based on Poccil's awesome Pokemon Essentials Starter Kit. The game itself features many unique abilities including Dual Screen and 3-Dimensional Map work along with other capabilities you won't find in most fangames.

Key features:

3D Maps

Yes it's true. Thanks to MGCaladtogel (for NeoMode7) Origin is now 3D and my modifications to ALL of the NeoMode7 scripts for Pkmn Essentials support and improvements in performance and calculations.

(Older)

Example of newer calculations (More 3D effects) :

Dual Screen

The game is Dual Screen like the NintendoDS (TM)...

Online Capabilities

Pokémon Origin features several self-scripted online features including:

- Mystery Gift
- Online Shopping (i.e. 1 Online PokeMart)

Changed array of HMs

Simple :D

HM01 - Cut - Cuts down trees
HM02 - Fly - Allows you to flying to other cities
HM03 - Surf - Surfs on water
HM04 - Strength - Moves (or pushes) boulders
HM05 - Defog - Clears up fog
HM06 - Earthquake - Delivers a booming quake to the ground to smash special breakable rocks and/or walls within 10 movement spaces.
HM07 - Waterfall - Climbs waterfalls
HM08 - Rock Climb - Climbs rockwall-like surfaces

Pokétch

The Pokétch makes a glorious return from Pokémon Platinum Version with new apps!

Regions

All 4 main regions exist in the game (Johto, Kanto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh) plus Orre.

Plots

Sinnoh's stories:

Spoiler:
Sinnoh's Freezing Story:
Spoiler:

Many Years ago, a Pokemon arrived in our world (Sinnoh), it ripped a dimensional hole on Mt. Coronet while entering, making sinnoh freezing cold while the hole hit the sinnoh region. The Pokémon was supposedly a Giratina, its cry was heard throughout sinnoh, but no one truthfully knew what it was. Dialga and Palkia seemed to have summoned it for but one reason; sinnoh's peace had disappeared, and the so called Giratina was supposed to fix the balance between humans. It roamed sinnoh for many years, until one day it vanished. No one knew where it went nor when the date it truely left sinnoh.

Spoiler:
Sinnoh's Current Story:
Spoiler:

Now, the climate has hit frozen again, and there have been rumors around sinnoh of the pokémon's return. No one knows if this is true, but team Galactic has been hiding something, possibly the Pokémon from the Sinnoh Freeze Report years ago? Hikers report the cry of the Pokémon coming from Mt. Coronet, but the Police have found nothing.

Spoiler:
Hero's Main Story:
Spoiler:

The Player has to fill up their Pokédex with data from Pokemon all over the world, bring down Team Galactic, AND solve to mystery of the Pokémon that was sent to sinnoh supposedly by Dialga and Palkia. With the freezing climate due to the unknown pokémon the players have to be in new outfits. Venturing through sinnoh will be a challenge this time because routes now have split directions, leading to what or where is currently unknown. The player will notice that the routes are longer, the cities got larger, and the people are getting stronger. Will the Pokémon be found? Will team Galactic succeed in capturing it? Will sinnoh remain freezing? This is all up to your choices.

Is this actually 3D like with models and textures, or is it something like the perspective mode in Pokemon Essentials...

What algorithms are you using for Antialiasing?

EDIT: What's interesting is that I am working on an OpenGL project to create a graphics engine that (sort of) recreates the effect in Pokemon Games.
EDIT2: I noticed some of your screenies, just to tell you that the indoors are NOT in 3D in the Pokemon games, it is looking strange the way you have done it. (Maybe it's just being unfamilier but w/e)

lol my first post on PC in ages. Excellent work, I am glad to see you improve the look of 3D engine every now and then. I see great potential with the scripts you are making, and I am not surprised if most fungames are made in 3D in a few years. Thank you CP, your breakthrough with RMXP 3D makes me believe that anything is possible so long as you have the talent and heart in it. Best luck with the future development of 3D engine, it is going to change the history of Pokemon fungames.

Hello fellow members,

Long time no see, eh? You may have (or not) noticed my absence here so I have good news about the absence. I've been developing an engine I am quite proud of now and it's gotten to a solid beta. I don't really know how to say it without bragging though but it's 3D (real 3D this time). I can go on and on in one post raving about it but then there would be sooooo many skeptics saying I'm lying or I photoshop my images (I don't) so I have decided to release a beta download to prove I have indeed created this 3D engine and the images are not photoshopped. I have created a download page located at :

http://www.collosalnetwork.net/Origin/DemoDownload/Pokemon Origin Demo.rar

However I do need to note some things about the demo :

- Because of the new encryption on Pkmn Origin the game takes ~60 seconds (should be a little less) to load before the actual window pops up. (Sorry but it's not immediate :p)
- I recommend that you put your computer on High Performance (otherwise the game lags a small amount of FPS)
- It is not a full-on play demo, the demo is 90% to prove the legitimacy of my engine; you won't find much to actually play.

Credits:
I used some base scripts but please note all of them were heavily modified (just inserting them into your game will not give you the same results as the demo)

MGCaladtogel - NeoMode7 + MGCCubes (Please know I did NOT use King Kadelfek's 3D engine, you'll see I clearly did not in the demo but rather this is a custom engine)
Fustel - BDR + BDR Tile (Originally RMVX)

*** Also I think I really also should thank Nintendo (Pokemon Company) for the inspiration of Pokemon: Black and White and they're 3D effects because this encouraged me to write the 3D engine in the demo. Also I'd like to thank you (the reader/readers) for downloading and playing the demo if you did Please don't comment about the 3D unless you played the demo, it should answer a lot of questions and remove most of your skeptic thoughts, but I'd be happy to answer questions about it within reason. (i.e. don't ask "can I have the engine?") Also remember that this is a beta engine so many things will improve over time.

~ CP

EDIT: It seems I've forgotten to note some of the things you should see:

- Redesigned Poketch (No buttons, rather the green screen contains touchable buttons, although they don't do anything in the demo) - The app in the demo is kinda glitchy too but the main focus was the 3D.
- 3D Depth and actual Textures
- Animated Titlescreen and Intro (albeit intro is very short)

@Venom12 and zigzags :

The demo does indeed run, however I did say in the post that it takes around 60 seconds to actually start (sorry :p I can't help the time) because it's using this new encryption so the rgssad file can't be cracked without something that can crack an exe file. One of my friends IRL (crazyhand) has downloaded the demo and was able to open it successfully.

The only thing that is required to run the demo is an RGSS RTP (which should come with RMXP) and a decent computer wouldn't be bad...it doesn't have to be a fancy computer to run the demo with either no lag or minor lag.

You can open it, I've been trying to say it takes around a minute to open the game window. It doesn't take longer than a minute to open if you click it once.

Possibly but I don't really think so. My friend, Crazyhand, was able to run Origin on his computer without a problem. However, for those who apparently can't run the game I'll post some screens below but please know that the 3D is best displayed in the RGSS Player because while you move you can actually see each side of the 3D object.

There is surprisingly very little lag, though the game ate all of my ram memory up Also your resolution is still not fixed, although the events and the map seems to be loaded in 1*1 pixel, your text clearly shows that it is the original essentials resolution (2*2), and that needs to be fixed. Also the map scrolling isn't smooth as I thought it would be. That's all the feedback I can give since there wasn't much within the demo...

Anyways it looks good, and seems to work well good job.

EDIT: Taking a second look, I've noticed that the passages are set wrong. You don't want to set the left and right sides of the tree to unpassable. Make them a higher priority so it looks like the original games.
